This is a really great collection of short stories about what young girls experience growing up in India. They're all written by Indian authors and each one offers a little perspective on what life is like for women of different social classes. For someone who's interested in learning more about India or about women's' rights in other countries this is a very good read.

My two favorite stories were "The Swing" and "A Doll For Rukmani." In "The Swing" a grandmother watches her granddaughter swing
i couldnt read the whole book, its so saddening.
