With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. Huge thanks to Julianna Helms for loaning me her ARC. Everybody go and give Julianna a cyber hug right now. GO.

So today I was standing around in the kitchen in my underwear frosting cupcakes, and as I stared vacantly out of the window over the sink, I wondered, "What if I looked up and there was a zombie standing out there?"

I frequently wonder this. Call me crazy, but when I finally peel myself away from my manuscript at about 3:30 in the morning and I let the dog out one last time, I bristle an...more

Progidy, the second novel in the Legend-trilogy, proved to me what I already knew; THIS SERIES IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES!

Its just... freakin outta this world.

It was great to be reunited with Day and June again after so long. I believe Legend was the very first ARC I ever read, before I even knew what an ARC was (I won it) so it's a bit special to me. I easily found my way back into this story even after so long; a feat in of itself considering my lack of memory (it's scary how much I forget by the time a sequel releases). Prodigy lives up to its predecessor, maybe even surpassing it with the incredible progress in the world development--which was som...more

Well, well, well. Here I am yet again eating my words. A year ago, when I read Legend, I complained about the world building. Mind you, I did think it was a fast-paced, exciting read, but it felt incomplete as a dystopian novel because I couldn't fully visualize how the society fit into the world as a whole. By the end, I was left with so many questions about how everything functioned. I felt like Marie Lu was purposefully keeping secrets from me just to string me along...more

^My thoughts on having to wait a whole year for the next book. I've been so pleasantly surprised by my long-awaited January sequels, first Through the Ever Night, then Everbound... and now Prodigy has come in and turned a series I was on the fence about into one where I anxiously obsess over what will happen in the next installment. Marie Lu really focuses on developing her characters here, whilst still exploring the politics of her dystopian society and introducing one really evil twist to thi...more

Prodigy was one of my most anticipated sequels of 2013. Unfortunately, it might be one of the most disappointing reads of the year as well, for the following reasons:

1. The beginning bored me to death. The recap was lacking and I felt lost reading the story for a very long time. Also, the first half was unbearably slow. I kept skimming through large chunks of the narration in hopes that the pace would eventually pick up but it took over 50% for the action to really get going.

2. The...more

Not only do we have a brilliant sequel here, and one that effortlessly avoids second book syndrome, but Marie Lu also proves just how far she has progressed as a writer since the release of Legend. Prodigy is better - the world-building is sharper, more precise, the characters are perfectly developed and their relationships are wonderfully polished. The improvement is impressive, and with that, we have an excellent follow-up to the first instalment and an exciting continuation of June a...more

It's been over a year since I read Legend, the first novel in the trilogy. Legend was no doubt my favorite dystopian and one of my favorite books last year! I loved everything about it, and I eagerly anticipated the release of the sequel. Now having finally read Prodigy...

Unfortunately, it didn't do it for me the way the first book did. It was a much more different reading experience for me. While Legend was engaging and had me hooked f...more

“We're in this together, right?" he whispers. "You and me? You want to be here, yeah?" There's guilt in his questions. "Yes," I reply. "I chose this." Day pulls me close enough for our noses to touch. "I love you.”

I'm not gonna lie, though, I wish they kept the old title, Patriot. It sounds a lot more badass than Prodigy, in my opinion.

I'm pretty much excited about this book. I hope the publication date comes sooner than expected. <3

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO STILL HASN'T READ IT YET..
I hope the author answers the ff questions in this book:
- Was it really Thomas who murdered Metias? Or was it somebody else?
- Who's the girl that Day met in the sewer? Or did I misunderstood that it was Tess.
- What mutations happened to Day?
- Any potential love triangle parts?
- What would happen to June now that she betrayed the Republic?

OMFG. I'm lost for words. Just...

What? Why? Everything is okay then boom... Day -? June?

Why Marie Lu? Why do you torture us?

Okay, I'm okay now...

Right, down to business. Usually, I find, the second book in a series is often the worst but Marie Lu, again you have blown away my expectations.
So basically Prodigy takes place right after Legend. Day and June are together and are traveling to Vegas to make contact with the Patriots. The Elector Primo has died, so his son, Anden has taken over. When t...more

Oh, my, gosh!!!! I must have more!!! It can’t end here!!!

Simply one of the best books I have read in 2012/2013…. It gave me tears joy, tears of sadness and anger. It had everything I could have asked for as the sequel to Legend.

The story carried on with our two rebel hero’s, June & Day. Following their journey through the republic and the dangers and peril they face from the republic senate.

At the end I was seriously having a struggle to put the book down, I was even late for my wedding dre...more

LOVED IT!

What an AMAZING story!
It’s a bit unusual for me to like more the second book in a series, but as much as I liked Legend it will never compare with this lovely book… Because, you see, Prodigy is simply (and amazingly) good: great characters, strong world building, a lot more action and an amount of suspense that might kill you just a bit. Not to mention some sweet moments that might melt you like ice-cream on a sunny day.

Take care of your heart when you’ll read this book, as it is heart...more

Let's just put it like this. If you read Legend and liked/loved it, you are going to love Prodigy, and if you read Legend and sort of thought it was okay then let me tell you YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE PRODIGY. There is just no way around it, this book is so hard not to love. Its even hard to find a fault in it, because to tell you the truth I think it has none. Everything, from the deliciously flawed characters to the magnificently crafted story line, is amazing. I do not regret one second spent in...more

This book's cover is gorgeous.I love the color scheme, and basically just everything about it. (S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, anyone?) It fits the novel's mood so perfectly.

Upon opening this book, I found myself confronted with something awesome: half the text is in blue. I don't know why I love this so much. But how do I get my book printed in colors? You'd think it would be hard to read, but it actually isn't.

When I read Legend, I didn't care for June as much as Day. I liked her well enough, but for me,...more

After eternity, I swallow hard. I will not cry. Love is illogical, love has consequences-- I did this to myself, and I should be able to take itSo take it June. I am the one who should be sorry.

Day runs a hand through his hair, opens his mouth to say something, and closes it again. I can tell there's another part of this whole scenario that he is not telling me, but I don't press it.

I hang on to him like he'll disappear if I let go, like I'll be left alone in this dark room, standing in the

Warning: May contain spoilers for the first book. (And for this one too, although I'll at least spoiler-tag those.)

I read this just about a month ago and honestly, I've forgotten most of it by now. Part of that is my fault for putting off reviews for so long, but I think the book itself is also partly to blame. It was one of those books that after I read it I was like, "Oh, that was pretty all right." But it had kind of a bad … aftertaste, after a while. That is, after a while it just kind of fa...more

Yeah! I finally got my hands on this book!! I waited forever for this one to come out. Since this one is one of the first 2013's most anticipated waits, I can't believe it came so fast! ;) <333

The Cover:
To me, the cover looks like it's worn out and got dirty and everything. If you look closely at the hardcover cover, you'll notice. Good thing is that my friend can't ever say I ruined her cover since she got her book like that. Omg. LOL.

Read this review on my blog! --> Prodigy by Marie Lu

I really wasn’t sure what direction Marie Lu would take in Prodigy, but it’s safe to say I wasn’t expecting to be punched in the gut at the end.

I really didn’t want to start by talking about the ending of this book, but it will not leave me! I had a feeling there had to be something HUGE coming when I was nearing the end, otherwise we probably could’ve wrapped up the series here. Not that everything is resolved, but there is some semblance o...more

Day má ovš...more
