Paris is such a beautiful, and big city, you really do need to take your time exploring it. And slowly, like a turtle.

According to Nichole Robertson, the author of 'Paris in Color', walking with a pet turtle sets a slow pace in which to enjoy this beautiful city, and it was a fashionable thing to do in the 1800's.

Armchair travellers will love this photo book for it captures those slices of Paris that most people would just pass by or take for granted.

Unlike other travel books, Nichole has create...more

beautiful and simple extraction of pieces of the city in color, assembled in a polychrome narrative.
reflective of the wanderings of the flaneur, yes.
i want there to be information on the sites, the street corners, where the photos were taken, but that is maybe not practical for this type of book. it would make it something else.

My darling friend gave me this book for Christmas, and it's absolutely delightful. An American woman, living in Paris, began to take photographs of the beautiful colors of Paris for her personal use. Her friends encouraged her to publish them in this book. It's a beautiful return to the streets of Paris. Thanks, Heather.

An entirely visual collection of photos curated by color -- this is my kind of book! I only wish it was bigger! Spotted on the Chronicle Books web site -- a source for gorgeously designed books if ever there was one.

"Nothing sharpens your senses like a new address."

"Although we didn't know it at the time, we were cultivating what the French call flânerie. Like Baudelaire, the flâneur wanders the streets for exploratory pleasure with no destination to distract him from the city's curiosities. Ba...more

Beautiful photographs, and although the instagram effect seems a little cheap and overdone, it's still very nostalgic and whimsical. I've never thought to take concept photos based on colours, very inspirational, and something I'll have to try myself. Good coffee table book to own.

Bought this as a Christmas present for a friend with whom I traveled to Paris when we were in high school. Naturally, I had to look it over before I wrapped it. I've been following Nichole's blog for a while now, and always look forward to seeing more of her Paris photographs.

We received this book as a gift and I got all nostalgic looking through it last night. Other cities have charm and even beauty, but Paris has that je ne sais quoi. If you love Paris and photography, it's a fun book to look through!

I will dream for days of Paris in the colors presented here. The vibrancy was spectacular, and my only hesitation for giving five stars was simply the loss of identity of the city itself.

So many breathtaking photos! I'd love to have some of them for my art wall. I only wish it wasn't so fast to flip through

‘Nothing sharpens your senses like a new address. The streets were no longer an obstacle course to run. We walked for pleasure, with no agenda and no particular destination in mind. We noticed details, and took time to take them in. For recovering New Yorkers, nothing could have inspired us more.’ {Nichole Robertson}
