Fun and silly in places, when Amber's spirit, released by oncoming death, enters the body of the school's most popular, wealthy girl, and discovers that wealth and popularity weren't enough to stave off suicide. It's also very tense as Amber discovers dark secrets in Leah's family as she tries to return to her real body.

Amazing book to read. I am still smiling over the end. No I won't give any clues away but what a nice setup for the next book.

I liked the charcter Amber in this book she is a very caring person but she also has flaws like not knowing the right direction to take which causes all of her troubles. What I liked about Amber was even though she was in a rough situation she was still thinking of others. I also enjoyed the relationship she had with her friends, they each have flaws but these are teenage

Left or right? Amber's sense of direction is so bad that she can get lost in her own hometown, finding a cemetery that she never knew existed. And all in front of the girl she hopes will be her first management client. Amber's day goes from bad to even worse. When she finally makes it to the party, she hears a group of girls mocking her. And to cap off the entire dreadful day, she is hit by a mailtruck. When she heads toward the light, her grandmother and dog are there to greet her. Her grandmot ...more

When Amber has an out of body experience, she takes a wrong turn and ends up in the body of Leah, the richest, most popular girl in school. Now Amber has to get used to a new "somewhat" different family and a group of friends who she would never choose. How can Amber get back into her own body when she can't even convince anyone that she still exists?

This was not a terrible book, but it had many problems. One was that the characters were all "types." I'm so sick of reading teen books with the an

Recommends it for: everybody - this book is fun! Lots of laughs, cool and hip, and very touching...
Recommended to Mike by: I've known Linda Joy for years and have read many of her books.
I got a copy of this at the library last week. I know Linda and have read several of her terrific YA books, always right up-to-the-minute with the teen culture. This one is terrific: a dying girl wakes up still alive in the body of the high school's most popular girl who just committed suicide. Original!

Way to go, Linda! This book is a hoot. Lots of fun and very well-developed characters. Linda's command of the teen vernacular is right up to the minute and had me taking notes at time. A totally

Amber a non popular girl ends up having an out of body experience but when she returns to her body she ends up making a wrong turn into Leah's body the most popular girl in school that has just committed suicide.
I didn't think I would be interested in this type of book it seemed to goth for me, but the plot was really interesting. I will be reading the rest of the series.

The writing was atrocious. If you can get past that it has a lot of good things going for it. Writer provided us with outside the norm character choices and an interesting ending.

This book was a free download from Amazon, and I generally have relatively low expectations for those. It turns out to be a good book. Not great, but good. My biggest complaint is with the characters. The author spent more time describing their personality than showing through words or actions, which left most of the characters feeling one-dimensional and flimsy. The premise of the story, and subsequently the series, is intriguing, but the actual writing is rathe straight forward and lacking any ...more

I really loved this book. it's bout a teenage girl named amber. amber accidentally gets hit by a car and dies. well sort of. her soul was taken out of her body before it died, by her dead grandmother. her grandmother tells her to walk into the light but before you make that last step, turn ( right, left?). i cant remember which way she was told to turn, but she went in the wrong direction. supposedly Leah Montgomery, the most popular girl at school died the same time from suicide. when amber took ...more

My Thoughts:

Unsettling. Chaotic. Humorous.

Poor Amber tries so hard to be helpful and upbeat, but when her lousy sense of directions gets her into one bind after another, sometimes it’s hard for her to find the bright side of the situation. Then she’s hit by a mail truck and really put to the test when she takes a wrong turn… again… and ends up in the body of the most popular girl in school. What she learns about Leah Montgomery is disturbing and upsetting, not to mention the fact that she really

I'm not sure how to rate this. In the end I liked it, but at the same time I felt like a HUGE part of the story was just ignored and never answered. I will post a more thorough review after I ponder on it for a while.... for now it is getting 2.5 stars.

I pondered, here's what I thought:

Determination and a go-get-'em attitude are things that Amber Borden has always had. So what if most of her advice comes from self-help books, it's how you use it that counts and Amber has her sights set on becoming a famous talent agent. Even though her social status is hovering somewhere near the bottom of the ladder she is determined to not let this get to her and climb her way to the top. Her efforts begin to pay off when she somehow snags herself an invitation to a party at the house of Jes ...more

Judulnya agak horror gimana gitu yaaaa…. Hahahaha…

A nerd g

Girl Dead Walking completely astonished me. Based off of the summary I was a little put off of how clichéd it sounded. But once a friend of mine read and reviewed it, I just had to read this book!

What I loved was the transition scenes. The way how they switched was realistic, well as realistic as one can get with switching bodies. Everyone has off moments, and heading in the wrong direction is something that everyone has been bound to do. And the fact that Linda created a scenario before the big

At first, I promised that I won't read any novel these two weeks because of shit assignments. But then, I betrayed my own promise and read this novel 'till 1 a.m. this early morning! *it makes me realize I really can't live without reading!* :D

Dead girl walking was a pretty interesting book.
The story was really original.
And I really liked the idea of body switching with Amber and Leah.

This novel was about a seventeen year old girl named Amber Borden who tragically got hit by a mail truck. Than she meets her dead grandmother and her dog cola. By returning to her body, she accidentally went in the wrong direction and landed in her school's most popular girl, Leah Montgomery. Now, she had no idea what to do and nobody would

Karena itu betapa girangnya ketika akhirnya ia memperoleh undangan pesta dari Jessica Bradley – sahabat dekat Leah Montgomery, cewek terpopuler di Halsey, meski ia harus memakai alasan men ...more

Picked this up as a quick read during a hospital stay this week and found it quite well written. The premis of the story is familiar, but totally written in a unique way.
Amber is a girl with no sense of direction, big dreams and triplet sisters who are a bother. Example: on the way to a posh party with new commer Trinidad she turns wrong and ends up in an old graveyard. Later that day she is run over by a mailtruck just as she reads a letter offering her a full scholarship to a prestigious univ

I think I could say a lot of what I didn't like about this book, but that just seems a little mean-maybe it just really wasn't for me. Mainly, the characters seemed shallow to me-both in actual personality and development-the main character more than anyone else, actually, but since the reader is stuck with her, it's hard to overlook. The love story is flat and awful. Let me explain a tiny bit of plot:

Unpopular girl (Amber) has near-death experience, but whens she comes back, ends up in the wron

I feel like the switching body trope has come up a lot in teen lit, but that isn't altogether surprising. Every teen feels awkward and unhappy at some point, and there's such a grass-is-greener feeling when your life seems so terrible.

I picked this up because the Kindle version was free on Amazon, and I wasn't incredibly impressed. The writing seemed weirdly wooden at times, the plot had some weirdo holes, and the timeline wasn't as tight as I would have wanted. The characters were intriguing, b

I thought this book was absolutely amazing! The author really knows how to write, and how to get a person hooked. I can't wait to read her next book in the series, Dead Girl Dancing!!!

This book is basically about the main character, Amber Borden, dying. She gets sucked into this afterlife thing by get Grammy Greta, and Cola, her child-hood dog. Her Grammy tells her that she can get back to her own body; if she takes a right at the light. But, Amber being bad with directions takes a left.
