It’s hard to flirt when sequins are chafing your bits…

Injured pole dancer Matt Lovell meets attractive radiographer Sal when he’s in casualty for an x-ray. Trouble is, Matt’s firefighter outfit is pretty convincing, and the longer he keeps up the pretence the harder it will be to reveal the naked truth: that there’s nothing underneath his costume but a sequinned thong!

Matt Lovell ends up in the hospital emergency room with a broken foot. Once he sets eyes on Sal, the gorgeous radiographer, and his frog scrubs, Matt is determined to hide his profession as a pole dancer. Since he’s still in his firefighter’s costume, this shouldn’t prove to be too difficult.

Though Matt and Sal are very different, the chemistry between them was palpable from the start. Matt’s a little flighty, a little slutty, but he’s been around the block a few times and knows what he wants....more

Pole star is a short story, and is well written with good characthers that feel quite deep for a short story.

Matt is a stripper, known as pole star in his big strip in fireman uniform his hurt his foot so has to go to hospital.

Enter Sal the radiographer dressed in kids ward scrubs. Matt hopes his gaydar is working, because his cute.

They have some strange conversations which are really quite amusing.

There is a hot bedroom scene too. :)

Worth the read I found it quite heart warming.

Short but sweet. It is a British romance which took some getting used to the slang & different language for things at first but it didn't really take away from the main storyline all that much. I would rate it a 3 1/2 stars if able but the rating system doesn't work that way. The writing was good but not great or excellent but good enough to enjoy this read. The relationship was good between the two men but was mainly superficial. The sex scene was pretty hot. Some terms were more crude than...more

This humorous little story tells of our hero Matt, an expert on the pole, except tonight. He’s managed to damage his foot, and has been essentially dropped off at the emergency room by a friend and co-worker still in costume, that of a fireman. When a sexy x-ray tech takes him down for x-rays, he flirts up a storm. They seem to have a lot in common even if he’s not Matt’s type, and Matt’s not even sure the man is gay.

Matt is hilarious. He’s fli...more

This short, hot, sexy little story is just chock-full of naughty bits and grins and outright laughs that really illuminate Josephine Myles’ gift for creating characters who can charm their way right into your heart in record time.

Matt Lovell should get hazard pay. Really, who knew that pole dancing could lead to serious on-the-job injuries? Matt does now that he’s ended up in the emergency room with a broken foot, where he meets Sal, his radiographer/secret fan, and sparks ignite. Good thing Ma...more

This was not at all what I expected. A pole dancing stripper who hurts his foot and ends up in the emergency room in his firefighter costume and sequined thong? That practically screams PWP. What we get instead is SO cute and very funny.

Matt is the pole dancer, who meets the radiographer assistant, Sal, while Sal is wearing froggy scrubs. At the time, Matt is waiting for an x-ray and is considering what kind of undies Sal is wearing. “Probably something comfo...more

Short story that was cute. It didn't hold my attention 100%, as I did wander off a few times, but overall I did enjoy it. I liked some of the quirky moments, like the interesting pattern on the doctor's scrubs. That was cute. And as much as I want to say that they fell for each other too fast, I do have to realize that it is a short story, and therefore there isn't time to develop a relationship like in a full novel.

I did think it was amusing that Sal already knew who Matt was from his job, and...more

I love the cover.

Story was okay. I didn't understand a lot of the British slang/phrases so think I missed a lot of the jokes.

Also for me it'd would have been better if it was less slutty. Like I didn't need to know he liked to participate in Daisy chains. And I didnt care that his boss was getting a blowjob while he was talking to him on the phone.

And by the end you really don't know either character. All we see is them meet. A couple hours later they have sex. Then it skips an unknown amount...more

I know it's a free read
I know it has a MARVELOUS cover (even if the main character is red hair, and the model don't)
I know I should be grateful for this freebie, and I'm!!! THANKS FOR IT, YAY!

but... yeah meh. I didn't love the characters, and didn't laugh of their talking. And... it's ok, probably it's just not for me.

Try it :-) it's a short and free reading, and also very sensual romance. Maybe you will enjoy it more than I did

Loved it. A sexy, cute little read.

Stripper buggers ankle on stage, goes to A&E, meets cute, caring hospital bloke, flirts, gets a lift home, gets rooted and has a HFN.

Being Aussie I appreciated the English language and slang - colour (not color), twat, buggered, nutsac, taking my kit off - it's the simple things.

I've read two of Josephine Myles stories now and they were different from one another while retaining her trademark colourful style and earthy, quirky characters. I intend to read m...more

Sweet and funny is a good combination in a short story, at least in my opinion, and this one has both elements in abundance. It is also more than a bit sexy all along and makes it to the "hot and passionate" stage before the end. The small twist was a nice surprise as well. And all this for free? Go and check it out for yourself.

Matt is a stripper, and a great one at that. When he sprains his ankle and ends up in the hospital, his grumpiness was so overdone it became funny. His inner dialog abou...more

Short, sweet and sexy. A humorous and entertaining bit of in between filler to pass an hour or less. Aaand it's freeeeee so why not?

This is an ideal length for a lunchtime read. A bright funny story about a young man who tries to deceive an attractive ambulance man that he is an actual fire fighter rather than an exotic dancer in a costume. I laughed a lot while reading it, felt a good deal of sympathy for Matt, the deceiver, and Sal the deceived.

It has had the unusual after effect that I can't see a fireman now without imagining he has sparkly underwear under all the fire retardant duds. :)

Well for a short story (and FREE!) this one is cheeky fun and light read. Matt is a "Pole Star" (a.k.a pole dancer) and Sal is a sexy radiographer. The frog-patterned scrubs and boxer alone are adorable. Both men are likeable and I totally love their chemistry. The ending gives a sense of naughtiness and I can imagine how the two enjoying their relationship.

This short story is a pleasant mix of mild erotica and light-hearted romance.
It is a bit on the light side, with hardly any depth of characterization, but it is well thought of, well written and professionally edited.
The two leads are cute and fun to be around.

I will not bring it to the desert island with me but I do not mind the time spent reading.
Chris
Excellent short and smutty m/m romance about a stripper who gets injured onstage and ends up in the emergency room in his firefighter costume, flirting with the cute radiographer. I had really good intentions of waiting until closer to the release date to read and review this one, but... I couldn't resist. :)

I really enjoyed this story. The injured main character, Matt Lovell, is sexy while also understandable vulnerable about his profession. The anticipation building up to the consummation of the actual sex-scene is hot, especially for a short-story. And the ending leaves the reader satisfied. I will gladly read other works by this author.

A short smutty read with humour.

They meet, they fuck, they move in together. It all happens very quickly but it's a short light read not to be taken too seriously.

We don't learn much about Matt except that he's a complete slut but Sal seems to like that..

I love a cute, uncomplicated couple! I also love seeing people in funny situations, and being caught with a twisted ankle in a fireman's uniform in front of a hot radiographer in frog scrubs and not knowing how to tell him that under the velcro-seamed suit there's only a sequined g-string is a pretty funny situation!

This is a cute story and I really liked Sal :)
Sarah
Loved great bit of this book. It's hilarious. Matt trying to be sexy and attractive while lying through his teeth about being a firefighter. Sal plays along but surprises matt in end. Really enjoyed the book. Liked it was a quickie and fit between big novels.
Andrea
A short but fun story about the night Matt and Sal met. It has humor, good likable characters and strong sexual chemistry. It's so well done that I forgot I was reading a novella. I would have gladly kept reading more.

Cute short story. Matt going to hospital in his fireman's uniform with sequinned underwear shows you can't judge a book by it 's cover, or in this case a 'fireman' by his uniform! Lots of humour and great character development given the short number of pages.
Alisa
This was cute. The Britishisms had me on a couple of things but I re-read those parts and then got the jist. It didnt take away from the story and actually, it kinda made it a little better ;)

Cute is the word for this story: Matt and Sal meet cute, look cute, and have cute conversations in their cute English accents. Also some sex. Nothing much happens but it was a fun short read.

English through and through, Josephine Myles is addicted to tea and busy cultivating a reputation for eccentricity. She writes gay erotica and romance, but finds the erotica keeps cuddling up to the romance, and the romance keeps corrupting the erotica. She blames her rebellious muse but he never listens to her anyway, no matter how much she threatens him with a big stick. She's beginning to suspe...more
