3.5 stars. This is the story of two men, Cody and Sam, who have a working relationship. Cody is the foreman of a construction company in Las Vegas and Sam has his own stone business specializing in marble and travertine. Cody has never been attracted to a man before, but over the last 6 months, he cannot ignore his reaction and attraction to Sam. He discovers that Sam is gay or at least dates men by accident when he is looking for something on Sam's computer and sees a profile for a ideal date o...more
My Review:
I loved this novella. What a fabulously romantic story. I liked that this book wasn't all about the conflicting emotions that Cody is going through...although he does have them. I liked that he was 40 years old and is mature enough to accept that his feelings for Sam are just the way things are. No, he's never been drawn to a man before, but that's only because he never met Sam before.

Want is the first book I’ve read by Ann Mayburn and it definitely won’t be my last! I enjoyed every minute of this sweet and sexy short story, and I hated to see it come to an end. Since the blurb does a great job at explaining what the book is about, I’m not going to rehash it, but I will say that both heroes are very likeable sexy men who really lived and breathed off of the written page.

Cody McPherson never questioned his sexuality. For Heaven’s sake, he was married at one time, but when Sam showed up on Cody’s construction site with a delivery of marble and travertine that thought was quickly dashed. They became fast friends, but each man sensed a deeper connection. When Cody finds a minimized file to “1Night Stand”, an online dating service on Sam’s computer, he can’t tear his eyes away. Sam’s interests read like an autobiography of Cody….mutual attraction.

WANT was such a satisfying read. I always love reading Ann’s writing. Eloquent and easy-to-read, she makes her books so easy to devour.
Construction foreman Cody McPherson has always had a thing for Sam Denham, but has done nothing about it. Until now...
When he finds out that Sam has signed up for a dating service looking for a man that fits his description, Cody takes this as a sign and opportunity to make his move.As they are paired up on this blind date, Sam soon rea...more

This is my first m/m story by this author and let me tell you, it won’t be my last! The story is pretty short, but it certainly packs a lot…Cody is very uncertain of his feelings for Sam, especially because they are working together. They get set up by the infamous 1 Night Stand services, they are both hesitant at the beginning but you can tell they really care for each other, they are so sweet and tender with each other but they also have a ‘bedsheets going up in flames’ kind of night. Get read...more
This short story is almost pure erotica, hot from page one and with far more sex than plot. But it also has a very nice touch of emotion and the characters of Sam and Cody are clearly more than just fuck-buddies. Well, they have been friends before they discover they’re hot for each other. Now that they have discovered sex, they are still friends, and that’s part of what makes them such an adorable couple.

When you grab a 1 Night Stand story, you usually get a short read with likable characters, lots of sex and a HFN.
So, imagine me happy dancing around when I read that amazingly sweet epilogue, and realized even that's not the end of Cody & Sam's story! Yay!
Love, love, LOVE IT!
3.5 stars because there was definitely a lot of confusion with his/he/him... I often had to go back and reread a part, just to figure out who's doing/saying/thinking what. Other than that, it's just a lovely, hot story!

Reviewed by Posie: I've had this story uploaded on my e reader for awhile and it took me ages to finish it. I kept going back to it, reading a bit at a time.
I did like both characters, but the insta love was so darned fast! They went from zero to sixty in no time.
There is a lot of sex and I found the plot thin. This wasn't an enjoyable read for me.

As part of the 1 Night Stand Series, I pretty much expected this book to move fast to the sex between the characters. Oh Gosh, Cody and Sam were so sweet. I loved them together. One confident and the other hesitant. Loved the tension buildup to explosion. What happens in the epilogue was surprising and I'm excited to hear that the author plans on a future release featuring these two characters.
Never really read this series before or anything by Ann Mayburn, I think the story charms me with the epilogue. Without that epilogue, this will get a lesser rating. What can I say, I'm a sucker for ... ((view spoiler)). The whole (short) story is basically one night of lovemaking. If you're good for that, than this one for you ... at least both men are likeable
1.5 star. So-so short m/m about a straight construction foreman who's been lusting after one of the stonemasons working for him. Via the 1 Night Stand service, he manages to arrange a blind date with the man. The pronoun confusion in this one was painful - I really couldn't figure out who was doing what to whom most of the time.
Ann Mayburn’s WANT is one of the hottest short stories I’ve ever read. There is more sex packed into a these pages than most novels. But she’s also managed to provide a great GFY plot and characters to fall in love with.

This novella is short and sweet. Cody is not gay but he just might be for Sam.. After lusting after Sam, one day Cody sees that Sam has entered himself into a one night stand group and the type of guy sounds just like him. So Cody manipulates into being Sam's one night stand, that becomes much more than that.
Aw! I enjoyed this. Sweet, short, simple. What's not to like? Loved that blow job! Loved the characters, and the ending was very satisfying. A nice, feel-good read.
Sexy short about friends to lovers.
I had some trouble following who was who during some parts of the book.

This was a good romance story about two strong men. I liked both Cody and Sam as individuals and as a couple. The short story was not too heavy on the sex or angst. It just had a nice warm flow to it.
