First line of the story: “His kiss was slow. Deep. Erotic. Just like she had imagined repeatedly in her head, only this time it was real, and undoubtedly the hottest make-out session of her life.”

There is something about the characters in Diane Escalera’s stories that I can’t resist. Dangerous Desire was the first story I read of her, Cruz and Sienna held my attention captive all the way to the end and though Still Hot For You is a much shorter story, only 77 pages long, it was the same with Sha...more First line of the story: “His kiss was slow. There is something about the characters in Diane Escalera’s stories that I can’t resist. Dangerous Desire was the first story I read of her, Cruz and Sienna held my attention captive all the way to the end and though Still Hot For You is a much shorter story, only 77 pages long, it was the same with Shay and Dylan. I love these stories because the romance and the emotions of both heroine and hero come to live so vividly.

Shay and Dylan have a good life together; both are focused on their career. Shay has wrecked her happy marriage by demanding they have a baby as soon as possible, she should have known that Dylan does not respond well to demands. Her biological clock began to tick louder and louder when she turned 29 and she could not help herself. Now she knows better, she and Dylan have plenty of time to get pregnant, but their relationship has gone awry. It is time to fix their relationship so she and Dylan get their physical and emotional connection they once shared so easily back.

Dylan La Costa has his career and life mapped out, he works hard to achieve his goal and thought Shay felt the same way. So a baby does not fit in his carefully mapped out life for some years and now he finds himself estranged from his wife. How did that happen so fast? They are civil towards each other but that’s it, he truly misses Shay but has no clue how to turn the tide. When Shay starts her seduction he let himself be seduced, he wants his wife back.

Both Dylan and Shay are easy characters to like, it was love at first sight for them, but they come from very different backgrounds. Shay’s parents are rich; she never lacked for anything material wise but did not get a lot of attention or love from her parents. She is beautiful, strong and independent and worked hard for her career, her parents do not approve of Dylan because his parents are poor. Dylan’s family is not wealthy but they are close and affectionate. Dylan is the carpenter with faded jeans and a motorcycle (drool!), his masculinity radiates from the page; he is smart, ambitious, has his own construction company and is very much in love with his wife. He wants a better life for himself and Shay, but feels he is financially not secure enough to start a family yet. Sigh, falling in love with him was so easy!

Though the story is short it isn’t rushed or lacking depth, for me it felt like I was reading a chapter out of Shay and Dylan’s life. Their problems are easy to relate to, imo Shay and Dylan have been so focused on the future, grown so serious that they have forgotten how to have fun and live in the here and now. Shay wants to fix their relationship and commits herself to a booty camp, that may sound shallow but it gets them talking again about all kinds of stuff, the past, the present and the future. It is hilarious to see how every-day-life sometimes gets in the way of the romantic moments but it also made things believable and slowly they break free from their all-work-no-play-routine and find their way back to each other.

Though the storyline is simple, a couple trying to save their marriage, Shay and Dylan are not. Their attraction is obvious, that never was the problem, and therefore their sex is steamy and hot. Shay and Dylan are well-rounded characters with many layers and they have many Mars-Venus moments in Still Hot For You. I love it how Diane Escalera shows us how different Shay and Dylan think about certain things and have no clue how the other feels about it, their conversations are emotional and touching.

Diane Escalera’s writing is smooth and addictive, her characters amiable, hot and sensual. I found it refreshing to read about two characters who were already in a romantic relationship. Shay and Dylan’s journey to find their way back to one another is gripping, sensual and hot. Still Hot For You is an emotional, witty and sensual read; I loved it from start to finish!

In a desperate attempt to end this lack of communication phase between them, Shay turns up the heat by going back to the things they loved before things got too series and complacent. Shay adds adventure and fire back into their relationship by doing simple things that shows her appreciate for Dylan again.

I found that Shay was a very likeable character. She was strong and determined, learning what the problem was in their relationship and addressing that problem directly. I liked that in addition to the heat she brought back into the relationship, they also were successful in solving the problem that made them drift apart from one another.

The good thing about the characters in this book is that they aren’t bitter, nor do they fully blame the other for the distance they both caused in their relationship. It was interesting to see how Ms. Escalera put these two strong characters together and made them work for their relationship. The fact that they are willing to hash things out between themselves makes me love this book even more!

In addition to the great building of trust and emotion is the fact that Dylan is super hot. I just adore Diane Escalera’s heroes! She has a knack for creating heroes that you can’t help but drool over. Dylan is the perfect blend of bad boy and charming gentleman, making me wish that he was real so I can snatch him for myself.
Needless to say, this short story packed a lot of heat! It was sexy and teasing, giving just the right amount of sizzle to keep readers wanting more.

STILL HOT FOR YOU is passionate and sizzling, an engaging, beautiful story of two people who got the lucky chance to fall in love twice.

My curiosity was peaked. I wondered if perhaps you’d offer up an interesting tale of a couple dealing with the stress of trying to have a baby or with the stress that comes when, in a committed relationship, one person’s vision for a shared future isn’t the same as the other’s. I should have paid more attention to the fact that your blurb used the word “booty” twice in less than two paragraphs. Your book is mostly about the varied ways Shay and Dylan have sex in their upscale house. It wasn’t very interesting or, to me, erotic.

I, like you (according to your biography), am married with kids. Like your heroine, Shay, I was once twenty-nine and hell-bent on having a baby. I mention my own experience because I found Shay’s desire to have a baby pretty normal. I think many couples, after several years together, do begin to think about having kids. (About 75% of American women have had at least one child.) And let’s be honest, the older a woman is, the less easy it is for her to conceive. (Fertility starts to decline for women from about the age of 30, dropping down more steeply from the age of 35.) So, to me, Shay’s desire seemed pretty sane.

That’s not to say I didn’t empathize with Dylan’s lack of interest in a baby. He’s dug himself out of poverty, works really hard, and isn’t sure he’s financially ready to take on the responsibility of a child. Kids are expensive—in 2011, the average cost for raising a kid in the USA from birth to 18 (this excludes college) was just under $200,000. Having a baby is a life changer.

This was a good novella to read in one sitting. Shay and Dylan have grown apart after five years of marriage and her strong desire to have a child that Dylan isn't ready for. Shay has made it her priority to get them back to the great sex and close communications they had earlier in their marriage. I really enjoyed Still Hot For You! First off, I love Latin men…oh boy do I love them. I love the way they slip hot words in another language into conversations. I love their tanned chests and tight abs. I LOVE THEM. Dylan was no exception. The depth of his character was more then what I had expected. He had real, concrete reasons for not wanting to start a family right now. Reasons I am sure many men find themselves contemplating . Dylan didn’t think they were financially stable and he felt insecure because Shay’s dad never thought he was good enough for his daughter. So in trying to prove himself worthy, kept putting off having a family.
Shay decided she wanted a baby when she hit the dreaded 29th birthday and heard her biological clock ticking for the first time. This is just something women deal with. By the time we are 30 we are expected to have hit our milestones. Marriage. Job. Baby. No it’s not broadcast but its a silent understanding amongst women. So when Shay hit that she went slightly crazy and demanded that they have a baby right then and there. Probably not the smartest way to broach the subject, but hey, women can be a little crazy.
Together Dylan and Shay are hot hot hot! Escalera does a great job of making the characters so human. Real problems, real solutions and all done with a lot of heart! Her sensual writing ability was showcased with this one and she did a great job of combining sex with story arcs. This is a short novella so you can read it in one sitting but yet not feel as if you are missing anything because of the length. I found the intent behind the Booty Camp to be fine, if not a little ambitious for real life. If only all marital problems could be solved by lots of great sex. I find in real life the sex is usually wonderful but real people don’t follow it with deep emotional conversations LOL. I think in that respect though I found it slightly unbelievable.
I recommend readers that want something heartfelt but might not have a lot of time check out Still Hot For You! Also, this one is a bit spicy, so be prepared for the spark
