Wow the emotions ran deep in this on y'all.
Honestly I was surprised a lot in this! Especially with Caleb and Hunter. And then the tid bits Cassie finds out about herself of Hunter, Caleb, and her own dad!
In the beginning I was shocked at how drawn into the story I was. How would you feel if you controlled other's fate but not your own? That was what Cassie had to deal with.
Ahhh Cassie (or Cassandra). At first I really liked her. Until her relationship with Hunter started. Honestly every time the...more
I was luckily enough to win a print copy of this book in a contest. It's cover is gorgeous and totally grabbed my attention. The beginning of the book was a bit hard to follow and was a little to overly descriptive about some of it's details. But once you get a few chapters in it started to flow as you start finding out a more about the major characters, and I have to say LJ kept me guessing. Every time I thought I had what was going on figured out she threw me for a loop all the way through to...more

Guardian of Fate had me hooked within the first few lines. The steady pace of the novel kept me turning pages, and the ending left me right where it should: anxious for the second in the series. Demons and seekers, guardians and angels, heaven and hell - this urban fantasy explores places beyond this world with ease and finesse. Great read. Seekers of Fate - here I come. *The romance is intense; those seeking clean romance may want to do a bit of skimming.*
This was a good read with a lot of twists and turns. The premise of a Guardian of Fate, someone that can actually protect you from an untimely death, is very clever.
I craved more of the storyline of the Guardian's actual job. To hear some more heartfelt stories of how Cassandra saves innocent people. I have a feeling there will be a second book and I hope to read more about Cassandra, Hunter and Caleb.
Beware that there is some sex in this book and it made me blush! At first I would have pegged...more

I wasn't blown away but I thought Guardian of Fate was an overall enjoyable book.
The Good
I was drawn into this story straight away. Cassandra has had a rocky life. It is her responsibility to save the souls of people in her visions from the damnation of hell. But all of a sudden her visions are going haywire and two mystery men try to insert themselves into Cassie's life. One of those men, Hunter, has been a fixture in her dreams for years...more

Guardian of Fate #1 has a good premise, a "Guardian" who has visions that allows her to intervene to save people from dying at the hands of demons. But there's not a lot of that in the story. The book is a paranormal romance, which is to say it's half paranormal stuff and half romance stuff. The romance bit doesn't feel all that romantic, and includes some explicit but well-written sex scenes.
I also felt that the romance parts were a bit repetitive, especially in the middle of the book. I probab...more

In her premiere novel, Kentowski delivers a thrilling joyride, dropping us in the middle of the millennia old battle between good and evil. Her creation of strong yet mysterious characters, lends credence to her detailed work on this novel. Kentowski guides us through the fictional world with a skillful hand, keeping the story anchored to reality but also taking us beyond the limitation of our own minds. The story is meaty and character driven, full of angst, regret, passion, and suspense. The a...more
At the age of 16 Cassandra Cosgrove found out she was a Guardian of Fate, which is a person who has visions of apparent deaths of humans caused by the shadows, she is then to go to the person's aid and save them. Guardians are human foot soldiers for heaven, in a sense, to ward off the shadows from completing their mission and bring the unsuspecting soul to Hell. In her early 20s she has a new vision and something just doesn't seem right about it, Cassie still goes to save the woman in her dream...more
The beginning of this book scared me a little bit. For a small fraction of time, it started to read like Twilight. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but an authors worst fear is that their book will resemble another's too closely. After a short time though, this book was pleasantly surprising.
The author tells a story of a woman (Cassandra) who has two men come into her life by what seems like coincidence. It doesn't take very long to realize that is completely not true. The two men have impl...more

Guardians, angels and demons, oh my!
I love stories that deal with the concept of good and evil...in the literal sense. Are demons real? Are angels real? Are we humans caught somewhere between the two fighting factions?
L.J. Kentowski has created a world in which all of these questions are answered. For the most part, I was intrigued. How could Cassie Cosgrove, a young woman chosen to be a guardian, protect humanity with such limited life experience?
And I think, therein, lies my biggest problem wi...more

This is the first book in a series of 3 (the other two have not yet been released) of L.J. Kentowski’s Fate series. This book was a very strong, excellent start that paranormal romance and fantasy romance readers will find intriguing. Excitement, seduction, suspense and two extremely hot and definitely mysterious men are only some examples of what readers have to look forward to. Imagine trying to go to school and work and live a normal life, when at a moment's notice (or vision's notice) you have to drop everything and run off to save a complete stranger. That is the life of Cassandra ever since she she was 16 and found out she was a Guardian. Demons roam the earth, causing innocent victims to die in horrible accidents and sending their souls to be enslaved in Hell. Guardians have visions of the accidents just before they happen, allowing them the chance to save the vic...more
When I first started this book I was unsure of it. The beginning is a little slow and reads like Twilight almost. (Not that it's a bad thing, I am just sick of authors putting their twist on it hoping to make money!) However, I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The main character is a very strong woman and gets increasingly stronger as the book goes on. Demons and angels are the main characters in this book too. That was a beautiful little twist for me. I have read so much about witches and...more

Book Synopsis
Fear of death is all too common. Visions of it chill the bones and skip heartbeats. Seeing it coming and knowing only you can rescue the soul of the victim from the fiery bowels of hell…that’s downright life-altering.
Cassandra Cosgrove’s life was altered at the age of sixteen when she found out that it was her responsibility to save the lives, and ultimately the souls, of innocent victims targeted by Hell’s demons. As impossible as it seemed at first, she was able to live a fairly...more

This is definitely one of those books where you spend a lot of the book trying to figure out what the heck is going on and who exactly is the good guy and who is the bad guy. That alone kept me reading this book for a long time....I couldn't figure out what was going on and was definitely intrigued.
On her 16th birthday, Cassie found out that she's a Guardian of Fate. She can see when people are about to wrongly die and can change that fate. But suddenly her visions are changin...more

Guardians of Fate is a seriously addicting page-turner of a story and should not be overlooked!
The story is exciting, the characters are witty and charming and let's not forget... down right sexy! GOF will keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting with anticipation to see what happens next.

L.J. Kentowski did a fabulous job writing this book. It was an absolutely great read and different from most of the things I have read, which was very refreshing. When I would think I had things figured out they would change, which lead me to keep reading to see were things were now going. Those I thought I would hate ended up being the ones I loved the most by the end of the book. I really liked Cassie, as I thought she handled things well as they unraveled but wish she would have used the str...more
Supposedly, this is the first of three in a series. There are no titles yet for the next two.

She normally sees shadows near the one destined to die, but this time there weren't any; just a man with almost glowing blue eyes. She has no one except her mother to talk to about her failure; no one can else is to know about...more

This book reached out and grabbed me from the opening pages and never let go. I read it in two sittings. Surprising, because overall I tend to favor third person POV when I read a book. It could be the voice of the central character, Cassandra Cosgrove, a 'Guardian of Fate' who finds it her responsibility to save souls from Hell, or it could be the author's high-octane flow for the story that made it hard to put down. Either way, the pacing was fast and the characters intriguing, especially the...more
This book was a phenomenal start to a series. I can really see a lot of promise in the books that will come after this one. The characters of Cassandra, Caleb and Hunter were all well illustrated and excellently formed. Ms. Kentowski’s writing was very fluid and was so good you don’t realize your done the book till your reach her cliff hanger of an ending. As an avid paranormal romance reader I read a lot of similar books. What really stood out for me with this book was the interactions between...more

If you read fantasy to participate, however vicariously, in the battle of good against evil, you'll love the adventure. “There was no doubt in my mind that the man next to me was the same one who had been in my visions for the last six years. He was real, and he was at Luke's buying a whiskey? I almost felt cheated. For so long, I wondered what this vision was all about, feeling that it held some deeper meaning I would someday grasp. Yet, here I was at some seedy bar and the man in my dreams shows up and orders a whiskey. Now what? Save him from dying of inebriation?”
