1.5 stars.

I started reading this book without having read the prequel Love like this and I can confidently say that the book stands on its own. However it would give a good background if you read the prequel but it's not mandatory at all.

The Good

This book has a very novel concept and packs in many genres and emotions. This is the story of Hope, a girl who lives on the streets. She is brave, innocent and holds out on her own. Until she meets James and her whole life changes in that one moment whe

Started strong, but I got confused in the end and it fizzled out in the end for me.

This book was very refreshing as the plot was just so original. Homeless woman saves rich man from death who then developed amnesia, then lives on the street shortly with her. The romance between James and Hope was really built from their very first meeting, and there was a gradual development of their relationship which really let the reader get to know them better. It was good catching up with Ethan and Nicole from Love Like This. Seeing how their marriage is so strong after their rocky start ...more

I just don't quite understand what the hell happened here. I mean seriously I was excited until about the 30% mark and then it went all the way down hill from there.. and of course you know I am going to explain.

First... yeah those "intimate scenes" made me laugh out loud.. seriously I would have just rathered them not been there at all... I think the thing that really made me laugh and when hope stated that he touched her "Gräfenberg spot" LMAO.... seriously? why not just say g-spot? oh and I

But she’s smart on the street. She keeps to herself, but she’s just there. A body without a soul and she’s going nowhere.

Then meet James from LOVE LIKE THIS .

He’s one of the bad characters that once the story

Hope is hopeless and homeless. She lives on the street and refuses to use her actual name, Hope. She goes by her father's name, Jona. Although we discover later that she possesses a GED, she reads on an elementary school level and has not been able to secure employment. She relies strictly on street smarts, which usually gets her through life. When she finds James in a dumpster with a bullet wound to the scalp, her better nature gets the best of her and she tries to help him. When his family fin ...more

Hope is Love was really hard for me to read and finish, I loved the idea of the story, truly. I read the synopsis and immediately signed up for this tour. Maybe it was the fact that Jona is homeless that bothered me, having been through the issue myself about three years ago, the memory is still fresh in my mind and the circumstances still an open wound in my heart. Perhaps it clouded my judgement and infected my enjoyment when reading the book.

Either way I had to push myself to finish the book

Overall Thoughts:
The concept of this plot was very original and novel which was why I was easily interested in it in the first place!

Hope is Love is about a woman named Hope who people call "Jona". Life is a day-to-day struggle for her, seeing as she lives on the hard streets of Detroit as a homeless person. One day, she's the sole witness to an attempted murder gone wrong...

A man named James ends up being dumped into a dumpster after someone tried to do away with him, and Jona/Hope has no choi

Hope/Jona is an interesting character who will draw the reader in within the first few chapters. Jona is living on the streets and though she has good sense, she needs something else. Her character will come off as resilient and strong, though she does display some vulnerability. Sometimes, her character may seem a little odd or "off," when she starts talking to or doing the deed with other characters. James' character is pretty hard to like, particularly when one learns of his past. He does com ...more

A Cinderella story or a variation on the Frog Prince, except it’s the princess. Jona, or Hope, ends up rescuing a man after he gets shot. He can’t remember anything, including who he is initially. When he starts to remember, he still doesn’t remember the day he was shot and he doesn’t tell anyone he’s remembering things.
Jona is a street person and she isn’t very happy to have ended up with this guy on her hands. Turns out she may not be what she seems however. Of course, the course of love doe

This book was very strange. This is a follow up to Love Like This but it seemed to be all over the place. There were a lot of grammatically errors and problems with the flow of sentences. There have been similar problems in her other self-published books. In those books I didn't notice but in this book it really messed up the story. Example: the main female character's name is Hope but everyone calls her Jona (after her father but without the "h"). James insist on calling her Hope because of the ...more

I really like Sylvia Hubbard's writin style. The way she makes her characters connect from her other books (The Hearts), and you get different point of views. The Hearts are one messed up family. I could just imagine what their family reunion would be like.
