Mikey’s at a turning point in his life. He’s finished school and has a few weeks of summer left before he has to leave for College, but he’s not too happy to be following the path expected of him by his parents, rather than forge his own way in life. It’s also a time when Mikey is coming the realisation that girls aren’t really doing it for him, something that is forced to the front of his mind when he meets Nick who runs the bumper car r

Warning: this short story does NOT have an HEA or even HFN. But it also doesn't have a sad ending ...

The story is basically a moment in the life of 18-year-old, Mikey, whose encounter with Nick who works on the traveling fair one summer, changes his decision about what he wants to do in his life. Nick helps Mikey to open his eyes, that Mikey needs to 'chase his own dream' so that he will not wonder at the could have been.

Yes, there are kisses (and a telling of making love, but it's kept off-page

A solid, well-paced short story, sensitively written, especially in the way the author portrays teenage hopes, dreams and angst. A heart-warming tale of two young guys from completely different backgrounds and lifestyles brought together by a chance encounter that nevertheless brings about one of those life-changing, profound connections so rarely found and yet so precious.

I really enjoyed this...solid writing, and although (like the other reviewer here says) there isn't a HEA/HFN ending, I liked it. I'd say it's an open ending, leaving you to just make up what you think happens next. But yes, I wouldn't mind a sequel either!

Just a short story, but very sweet and tender. Mikey is only 18 years old and with a bright future in front of him, problem is, he doesn’t like that future. Mikey has always lived in a small town, has never had the chance to experiment outside the edge of his “family”, he doesn’t know if he is gay or straight simply since he has never met anyone who has stirred something in him. But then the fair comes into town, and with it Nick, 20 years old and “experienced”; now Nick is not very different ...more

Hello fellow readers and writers! I'm originally from the UK but currently living in and loving the USA. I have been reading and attempting to write m/m stories for around three years. It's a not so new guilty pleasure. I used to work in finance but am currently a stay at home mom to two young children under the age of four, so free time doesn't come along that often. When it does, writing about ...more
