Nurse Nadine Gilbert likes working the night shift to avoid her disturbing dreams, but her mysterious new patient looks hauntingly familiar. Meryn knows he do...more

The Window Seat
When I first read The Goblin King, I saw a series that was a bit rough, but incredibly promising. There were some writing kinks the author needed to work through, but the story and characters were strong and I was very excited to see where this unique idea would go.

However, I think Husk made a tactical error. She took her characters out of the successful Shadowlands and ended the goblin curse in the first book. As a result, neither of the next two heroes had the same setting and the stories suff...more

I would LOVE to do a review for the whole trilogy of this series, because even though the books were individual stories, they continued on from one another and 'flowed' so well together.

4.5 stars - The first of the cursed band of warriors to turn fully goblin, Meryn surrendered to the lure of gold in order to dull the pain of the loss of his family. Now that the curse is broken and he is back in the real world, Meryn doesn't feel he deserves a second chance at life, until he meets Nadine, a woman who makes him want to take that chance to live and love again.

I really liked For the Love of a Goblin Warrior, the final book in Shona Husk's Goblin King trilogy. This story is just a...more

Review:
Let me mention that I have not read the first books of this series (by accident) since I did not realize that this was the third book BUT it made pretty much no difference and this book can be read standalone.
Meryn has been under a curse for about 2000 years that turned him into a goblin warrior and somehow the curse has been broken (you will find out) and now he is a human once more with the mind of a 2000 year old Cel...more

Meryn has spent thousands of years trapped in the Shadowlands as a goblin. He witnessed the death of his wife and children. Now he has been thrust back into the human realm with no warning. The only languages he knows are long dead. The world around him is nothing like he once knew. Nothing makes sense.

Nadine is a nurse at the hospital where police take the half-crazed sword-wielding Meryn when he is found on the street. Though he can't understand the words she is saying, Meryn can hear the kind...more

The third and possible final installment of the Shadowlands series was good and bad. Meryn is a complicated figure, and I loved that the entire book dealt with him adjusting to the mortal realm after 2,000 years as a Goblin. I also loved that he dealt with the loss of his wife and children, and did just brush them to the side as soon as he met Nadine. So many series have the hero easily adjusting to a new world, and instantly getting over the loss of love as soon as they meet the heroine. I love...more

I loved the first two books in this series. Hush has an amazing ability to weave a mesmerizing story with a magical dark fairytale feel to it. And she achieves that again in
For the Love of a Goblin
. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the first two because compared to the first two books this one doesn’t quite measure up. It is good, but the pacing of the story is a little awkward.

Meryn was the first of Roan’s men to go goblin and spent 2000 years as one. W...more

Maybe love does conquer all! Meryn, a Celtic warrior, lost to a curse for 2000 years that had turned him into a goblin warrior, finds himself, once again human and is tossed into the 21st century, lost, alone and being taken to a hospital emergency room by two police men. Unable to communicate with anyone, he is placed in the compassionate care of Nadine Gilbert, a nurse with an emotionally damaged past.

There is something that draws these two to each other. Both are hiding deep pains from their...more

This is my first time reading anything by Shona Husk, as well as anything goblin related and I really enjoy it. I now have a new outlook at the goblin race as well as a new appreciation, both something I never thought to happen. I started late in the series, but was fine with keeping up and following all that was happening from start to finish. That being said, this story can be read as a stand-alone without the reader being lost (awesome). I found the story to be very original and definitely on...more

Well this is the first one in this series where I actually recognised Perth in the descriptions. I enjoyed that about this one. I also enjoyed the poor tortured hero who basically had to remember how to be human. The coincidence of his lady love's mother being killed by goblins was a little hard to swallow but meh!

The writing was nicely done and it was a good wrap up to the adventures of the celtic warriors but even though I enjoyed each book very much I couldn't help feeling like something was...more

Husk drew me into the Shadowlands with Roan in The Goblin King and again with Dai in Kiss of a Goblin Prince. Now, she's done it again with Meryn, capturing my heart in this steamy novel.

In this third installment of the Shadowlands trilogy, my sympathy went to the lost, lonely, tormented Meryn. After centuries of being trapped in the Shadowlands, existing as little more than a beast, fighting hunger and nightmarish creatures just to survive, Meryn suddenly finds himself thrust into the 21st cent...more

Book 3 in the Series follows Meryn, cousin to the Goblin King who turned Goblin just after being cursed a thousand years ago after witnessing the demise of his wife and children.
No one knew that when the curse broke it would turn Meryn back into a human and trap him in the Shadowlands and leave him at the mercy of the Goblins he's been fighting side by side with.

After realising Meryn had been saved alongside them Dai used his enhancing magical abilities to rescue his cousin before it was too la...more

This is a romance novel with just a hint of PN. It can be a standalone but it may be for your benefit to read the first two to understand and follow this one better. Meryn, our hero, is dragged from the Shadowlands into the Fixed Realm not by choice and for a while he feels all he has to hold onto is Nadine, a beautiful nurse that sees past his dirty clothes and language disabilities. He feels he will not be worthy of her love nor worthy to face his king until he proves he is a man again after h...more

This book felt light and easy, even with the darkness in it. It was a romance about two people being saved by each other.

Meryn used to be a Goblin who stole gold and killed. Now he is back int he real world, 2000 years later. He is lost, but he is smart. He mourns in family, and the darkness of the Goblin hangs over him. But he is a nice guy, a man who just want to live again..if there was something to live for.

Nadine is a nurse who have nightmares (yes goblins there too). He father is in jail f...more

You see some very strange things when you work in an Emergency Room, but Nadine was NOT planning on a hunk with grey all over him who spoke Latin for Heaven’s sake! There was a good reason for the grey as it turns out, is because the hunk just arrived back in the ”Fixed Realm” from the Shadowlands where he had been for the last several Milleniums. When he was last on Earth, the Romans were running around with swords. And his whole family was butchered.
Meryn was afraid. He, the General of the Gob...more

Quick & Dirty: Intriguing story about two people overcoming their emotional shortcomings – with just a hint of the paranormal.

Opening Sentence: What was it about the full moon that turned the emergency room into an overfull level of Hell?

For the Love of a Goblin Warrior continues the story of a group of Celtic warriors who are cursed by a Druid priest to slowly become gold-loving goblins while they live out their long existence is the bleak Shadowlands. They spend two thousand years trying to find a way to break the curse before they completely turn into goblins. These books are character-driven romances with fairy tales and goblins.

The goblin warrior in the title is Meryn, a warrior whose loss of wife and children before his ey...more

For the Love of a Goblin Warrior is the third book in the Shadowlands series by author Shona Husk. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, it should still be no problem to follow along. While I recommend you read the previous books, it is not necessary to read them first. The main characters are Meryn and Nadine.

While this book was good and kept me reading straight through until the end, it wasn't a book that I would say I fell in love with. The story was a little choppy at times...more

For the Love of a Goblin Warrior could be read as a stand alone as this installment mainly takes place in the modern world, with the Shadowlands only occasionally intruding, but I think the previous two novels, The Goblin King and Kiss of the Goblin Prince provide some contextual depth for the story.

Once a Celtic warrior, Meryn was banished to the Shadowlands for his loyalty to his King. After being forced to witness the murder of his wife and children by the Roman legion, Meryn was unable to fi...more

We pick this book up right where I assume that book 2 left off. I didn’t actually finish book 2, so I am not entirely positive this is the case, but that is what it seems to be. Meryn has just come to the Fixed Realm and is extremely confused after being a Goblin in the Shadowlands for 2000 years. He is in the hospital after police picked him up waving a sword around, he speaks no English and has no idea what is going on. Nadine is called in because she speaks several languages, but none of whic...more

Meryn is now my favorite goblin....I thought for sure Dai had it all in the Kiss of a Goblin Prince , damn if Meryn didn't steal my heart!
Meryn as a character has it all that any woman wants in a lost puppy....shows up lost and lonely..then turns loyal and true. Not to mention that he is really cute!
He really had me when he tried to survive without the help of his family afraid that his past would equal betrayal in this new world as well. It wasn't until he really needed the help that he accepte...more

For the Love of a Goblin Warrior by Shona Husk is a solid romance novel, that even with two preceding books in a series that I have not read, I did not feel lost or left behind while reading. It is currently scheduled for release on January 1 2013. Nadine Gilbert is a nurse that has had a rough life. Her mother was killed when she was a young child, and her father convicted of the murder even though there was no body. As an adult, she has a good life, although she is still more than a little afr...more

I was unsure about this book I will confess.

I absolutely loved The Goblin King, the first book in this series, but Kiss of the Goblin Prince, book two, was quite a disappointment. Still: the most interesting parts of book two were those about Meryn, so I decided to give For the Love of a Goblin Warrior a try.

And it's so good!!!

I fell totally in love with Meryn. He's deliciously gruff, both strong and vulnerable and he has a beard. (Which he does cut short, but doesn't shave off entirely. Yes, ye...more

Nadine has always been told the stories of the Goblin King. As an adult she has nightmares about the Shadowlands, ever since her father supposedly killed her mother.

Meryn has been given a second chance, no longer a goblin he is once again human and not sure if he wants to be a warrior for his king. He will protect Nadine the woman who makes him want to feel again, after losing all he ever loved. He has to adjust to this new world and fight the Shadows that followed him.

For 2000 years, Meryn has been under a curse that turned him into a goblin warrior. But then, miraculously, the curse has been broken. Second chances are hard to come by, but Nadine may just be his.
This is a hauntingly beautiful tale of second chances and true love. This series continues to amaze me with its beautiful settings and engrossing characters. Meryn longs to make Nadine his and make a future together, but his tragic past could cause a rift between them that may never be breeched. The story was heartwarming and highly engaging. There were some great action scenes and a good number of sweet moments between Meryn and Nad...more

Alright, this is an interesting pairing - the H is a reformed goblin, the h was orphaned by goblins. Yeahhhhh... So when we last saw Meryn - at the end of the previous book - he was like... a wild animal... sortof. He spoke 2 languages - Latin and his native DeClangese (or however you spell it). Needless to say, 21st century Australia was a mite confusing.

So the h, in response to her mother's disappearance and her father's subsequent imprisonment for murder (because how do you explain that you d...more

FOR THE LOVE OF A GOBLIN WARRIOR is a novel with an interesting twist for the paranormal genre with great characters and plenty of drama. The third installment of the Shadowlands series is a great romance!

Lost and confused, he fights to find his way in this world completely unknown to him. He convinces himself that all hope is gone and his soul is tarnished until he meets hi...more

Shona Husk's latest novel, For the love of a Goblin Warrior (Shadowlands #3) was a brilliant piece of writing. Stories about Goblins aren't usually the books I grab, but i'm glad I did this time as it didn't disappoint.

Nadine is a 26 year old nurse trying to lead a normal life after finding out her father has been released from jail after serving a 20 year prison sentence for the murder of her mother where she was sole witness. Nadine can’t remember a single detail about the event, but she has...more

For the love of a Goblin Warrior is book three in the wonderful journey Shona Husk has been guiding us upon. The path the characters travel is one of redemption and second chances. Of forgiveness, not only of others but of oneself. It is a detailed twist of dreams and nightmares of what was and what could be. While this was an exceptional story I seriously recommend that you read the first two books The Goblin King and Kiss of the Goblin Prince first. Ideally this is a stand alone story but the...more

Shona Husk lives in Western Australia at the edge of the Indian Ocean. Blessed with a lively imagination she spent most of her childhood making up stories. As an adult she discovered romance novels and hasn’t looked back. Drawing on history and myth, she writes about heroes who are armed and dangerous but have a heart of gold—sometimes literally.

With stories ranging from sensual to scorching, she...more
