Shelves: yuck, did-not-finish
I don't usually put put books down this early, I like to give them 50%. But I couldn't take it any more. The books synopsis indicates there's a mystery about Elaina's Mother. But there hasn't been any thing other than hand drawn maps stashed in the library. And those felt like a mechanism to get the character where the author wanted them. There were 3 "E" names in this book which confused me. There is Elaina the human who sees through Elvish glamor, Ellis the love interest Solar Elf, Emile the f ...more

The book was ok for a starter, needs a lot of editing though. I would actually give it 31/2 stars
Elaina is living in the small town of Yellow Springs in her mothers old house. While looking through
her mothers stuff she finds a series of maps. Using them to navigate her way around the forest that
surrounds the town she meets Ellis who she's not suppose to be able to see. He's a Solar Elf and is glamored, but Elaina sees right through it. Ellis is smitten and wants Elaina for himself. Elaina is gi

I loved Surprisingly Supernatural because of all of the surprises at every turn. Surprisingly it has a fresh tone through out, uplifting and happy, even with all the disasters and challenges the author throws at the characters. Fresh and creative are the first words that come to mind when I think about this book. I highly recommend Surprisingly Supernatural.

It was an interesting story idea but unfortunately executed rather poorly. There were multiple grammatical errors, mostly a lot of missing woulds and hads. Other then that I found the characters rather predictable and a little flat. Elaina in particular seemed to annoy me the most. I felt she was contradicting herself often. Saying she had no money to buy groceries but then buying coffee and calling out of work. She would blush non stop then say she was not someone who blushed. she was just very ...more

I want more of the story! I can't wait to see what develops from Elaina's character. I would not normally read this type of genre but each page made me each turning the page. The details of what is going on is in such depth that you will have a very clear image of each of the characters. I really want to go to Yellow Springs and see the elves walking around! Anyone that has ever been to Yellow Springs knows that they might really be there. Thanks Sara!

3.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this story. The plot was unusual and imaginative and left a taste of mystery. I loved the female character and her take no prisoners attitude but was frustrated by her inability to make a decisive choice between men.

At first I thought I wasn't going to like this book. I started reading it and is was slow at first, but then it pulled me in. When I finished it I was hoping there was a sequel.
