Having won this book in the first reads drawing, I was excited to be able to read it and give my review. How pleased I was after reading the book. The author did a great job of defining the characters and telling a story. Brandy and Weston face the challenge of dealing with the death of their first child at birth. Rather than pull together as a married couple to try and help each other, they push each other away by seeking comfort in other people instead of each other. Brandy goes into a deep de...more
This is a sweet wonderful book, which can be read in less than a day. However, with it being a short read does not take away from the book. This book starts out with two main characters, which one of the main characters changes into a minor character, and another takes the main characters place.
I rooted for Brandy throughout this whole book. The author did an amazing job creating this character. Brandy goes through a painful experience that no parent should have to experience. The death of a chi...more

Moon Over Alcatraz was a bittersweet read, in terms of the emotions one feels while reading it. The novel is about a married couple (Brandy and Weston) who were looking forward to a new baby only to discover they can never share the joy of having that baby in their lives. The baby dies and leaves Brandy and Weston crushed and their marriage crumbling. Instead of helping each other through the painful process, they push each other away. Then a great job opportunity for Weston causes them to spend...more
Brandy Chambers sought one goal in her life to have her HEA, happily ever after. It’s her primary goal in Patricia Yager Delagrange’s novel Moon Over Alcatraz. Her HEA is destroyed when her husband of ten years, Weston Chambers and she cannot break through the defensive walls that divide them when she loses their baby. The two are consoled by others, but when Brandy’s indiscretion results in becoming pregnant with the other man’s baby, Weston leaves her and moves in with his new lover/co-worker...more
Brandy and Weston Chambers' world is turned upside down when their baby girl is three weeks early and dies during childbirth. Both of them were struggling and grieving the loss of their daughter, but Brandy felt an overwhelming guilt that it was her fault that their little girl died, and she pushed Weston away unable to accept the solace that he wanted to provide her. Feeling rejected, Weston accepts an out-of-town bridge building project in New York City that would take him away until the new y...more
Moon Over Alcatraz by Patricia Yager Delagrange
Patricia Yager Delagrange has written what I would say as an excellent women’s romance novel. Its heart wrenching at times and I will admit I shed a few tears. But it was one of those stories you cannot put down and I would say one of the better romance novels I’ve read in awhile. Patricia’s writing is excellent the words flowed seamlessly and her writing made you feel actual emotions when reading this story. I would compare her writing to someone l...more

Moon Over Alcatraz by Patricia Yager Delagrange was an emotional story to read.
It's heartbreaking story about a couple who lose their baby. The emotions and pain what the main characters go through is well written and captivating. It's a sad story where both have difficulties with dealing with loss and pain and how their journey takes them to third parts with the search for understanding, love and closure.

Both Brandy and Weston go through a heart wrenching ordeal when they lose their child at birth. Nothing could be worse than that. Both of them, in their grief, make a mistake and seek solace in other people instead of each other. I'm not usually one for reading books with infidelity in them. So, I was a little wary when I went into this book. After much thought, I decided that I did ultimately liked the book. While I don't condone what either of them did, I was happy to see them go their separat...more
I WON THIS BOOK FOR FREE THROUGH FIRST READS!!!!!!
I CRIED LITERALLY CRIED DURING THE ENTIRE STORY AND COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH A HORRIBLE THING HAPPENED TO BRANDY. THE STORY WAS BOTH EMOTIONAL AND FINDING TRUE LOVE WITHIN YOUR HIGH SCHOOL BEST FRIEND. PATRICIA PUT A LOT OF FOUCUS AND EMOTIONS IN HER WRITING AND THE STORY WAS REALLY GOOD. I WOULD BE DEVESTATED IF SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED TO ME.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ADULTS THAT ARE PLANNING TO HAVE A BABY OR HAS ONE IN THE WAY....more

This story was quite well written and extremely well edited. The storyline would be appealing to many women. The main character goes through experiences common to many in this day and age. I would classify it as romance with a touch of erotica. The sex scenes were not powerful. They focused more on 'rubbing his swollen member' type of wordage; I felt the 'sexual action' would draw the reader in better if accompanied by more emotion.
I loved this book. The characters felt so real that they could have been my next door neighbours. I could relate to the emotions and felt them as if they were my own as I read the book. I laughed, I cried and I got angry along with the main character. I have already told people about how much I love this book.
