So far, I'm not terribly impressed by the writing itself. The story is ok, I'm a bit more than half way through. The author needs a good editor, in my opinion. The book is way too long, lots of extraneous historical material that detracts from the story. First book I've read in a long time where I'm finding the the prose is getting in the way. All that being said, I want to find out "whodunit", so haven't given up.
