Lucy has sharpened the knife again for another erotic peep into Leila's world. As part of his taking over Leila's last three jobs Joseph has bought her service for the week long New York trip with the firm. Leila isn't sure how it will work, it means her colleagues will know she is with Joseph, but in his usual I Am Important way he sweeps aside any concerns and does what he pleases. Explanations to other people are not something he concerns himself with. Matt still carries a torch for Leila and is jealous of Joseph, her old call girl colleague Aiden arranges to come to New York too and there's some jealousy and back stabbing going on within the other protégées. So far all looks fine :) Joseph seems to know what Leila/Charlotte really wants and begins to push his darker desires onto her seeing how far she will go with them. Aiden befriends Matt – an unlikely partnership and not least because being bisexual Aiden would like to have sex with Straight and traditional Matt... Joseph and Leila decide to try to have a proper relationship but as always the path of true love never runs smooth, the knife bites sharply and wounds are formed.

Another sharp and biting novel that entrances, engages and appeals to the sensual, erotic side of our natures. Carefully written to show how Leila and Charlotte have been created Lucy gradually harmonises the two alter egos with Joseph's help. From being a tough harsh unfeeling boss we thought he was he shows a tender side to Leila although its hidden in what seems cruel dark sex but he knows just what she needs. . In this book there's heartbreak and betrayal, blackmail, erotic and sexual scenes, wedding but no funeral and with what I love best – the Happy Ending. I'm a sucker for that, can't take romance without a HEA.

Its around 275 pages for £3.93 in e-book version and well worth the money. Again Lucy only uses what words needed to make the story flow, no fluff and fillers here, just tough, gritty drama. There are what seems some very dark scenes, and some may find them too much but they are needed to carry the story through properly and we see just how they've come to be. Its another fabulous read that had me laughing at some scenes and then in tears at others. Real drama because we feel we know the characters so well have they been described.
Again I'm giving this 5 stars – and I’m picky about my ratings so this is genuine not one of those raves about something that doesn't deserve it. If Lucy goes on to write further novels I'll be first in the queue – she's clearly a very talented writer.

Leila is a lawyer in training who, to pay a family debt, became a whore in her off-time in Chairman of the Whored. She never knew how much she would enjoy the freedom that lifestyle gave her. In this newest installment, Leila has paid her debt and is out of business …or so she thought until someone decides to blackmail her and she almost loses everything…including her heart.

This is the second book in the series and the author does drop details to keep you up to speed, but I think you should consider reading the first story to fully understand and appreciate Leila and Joseph and their story. I have loved them both. With that said, this book didn’t disappoint with the twists and revelations and especially the smut. Although, I did find myself skimming some of the smut to get to the rest of the story – that is not a bad thing – the story is that good. There is, of course, some knife play with more blood than even Leila & Joseph were prepared for, a great F/F petting scene that would make a nun want to renounce her vows and a flogging scene that will keep you from sitting down for a week. The Prayer continued with the same characters we met in the first book and a few others that I hope get their “happily ever after” in the future. Aiden and Matt return and we are fully introduced to Elise and Kenji who show us that even goody-goody girls like to be bad sometimes.

Leila & Joseph don’t disappoint in their tangible desire for each other and even though Joseph is known as the “Chairman of the Whored” we learn that even the boss has his limits when it comes to his “lawyer”. It is an obvious love that even they don’t realize until they are too deep to be saved. Lucy Morgan did a great job of taking us to new places with Leila and Joseph and their now “out in the open” relationship. The competition for a place in the firm that Leila has worked so hard for is within reach and she is surprised to have it all – the job and the man. Like many women, she wonders if she truly deserves to be happy or not. Ms. Morgan uses references to Eve and the apple in Eden, Alice in Wonderland visuals and especially the wolf claiming its prey in her endeavor to help us relate with Leila. I would have to re-read some of these sections to be clear on her meaning, but they had a place in the dialogue so it wasn’t overly distracting. At this point, I am accustomed to Ms. Morgan’s writing style and British brogue so it worked well for me. When it comes to relating the images in her mind, Ms. Morgan is a becoming a master at giving you a full visual so you can see exactly what she sees without being overly descriptive…she just skips without warning sometimes in that inner dialogue.

I continued to love this character and completely related to her struggle of accepting the good in life. Leila is not ashamed of what she has done and is open with her love of her dark side with Joseph, but that doesn’t stop her questioning her decisions and her reasons as to why she likes this type of…yes, that scary 4-letter word…love. She has worked hard for what she has accomplished and she still doesn’t apologize for it, but just when she thinks she can relax and revel in this newfound bliss, someone tries to take it all away. To save those she loves from being tarnished by her past, Leila attempts to make right what someone else thinks was wrong. While you can be sure that your secrets will surely find you out, the truth will always set you free...especially with the Chairman on your side…

I highly recommend this book for those that like their cake and to eat it too…

This is not cookie cutter erotica. No dungeon play or dark dom guiding an initiate. Yes, boundaries are breached, breasts plundered, and transcendent orgasms are torn from between trembling thighs. Lots of orgasms. But in Chairman it's your brain that gets off best.

Lei-lei, what are you doing? Are you on drugs? Are you on an acid trip? We return to Leila's train wreck of a relationship with Joseph, Matt, Aidan and Charlie. Joseph is still her boss and his nickname is "Chairman of the Whore". Seriously, who dates a man known for whoring around and is proud of it? That would be Leila who is uniquely qualified as her alter-ego Charlotte, a high paid prostitute, er…escort.

I did tell myself I wouldn't read the follow up book to Leila's whoring ways because it was a hot mess. I'm glad I changed my mind because this book was better and the conclusion satisfied me. In this second installment, Leila is now dating Joseph. They are into a bit of edge play with some blood play. It's not really knife play because knife play doesn't usually involve blood. When there is actually blood dripping, then it is a bit more than just knife play.

The writing style of Ms. Morgan is different. There are flashbacks in the middle of a scene as well as inner dialogue during a scene between two characters. This is deliberate as even the other character mentions it in the story. Leila tends to zone out in the book which Joseph calls her on. The reader can sense Joseph's frustration. As a reader, I'm just as frustrated as Joseph. The random allusions to Alice in Wonderland did make me feel like I was on an acid trip. Even Joseph mentioned this oddity in Leila's non sequitur references. I think these types of tangent works better visually in movie or TV show. I recommend Ms. Morgan refrain from this type of style because it breaks up the flow of the story and tends to throw the reader out of the storyline. I also recommend better transitions between these scenes to smooth out the flow.

The struggle and conflict in this story was more realistic and I enjoyed it. I liked the blackmail theme and while I wanted to slap Leila upside the head, I guess I can forgive her since she is young and stupid. Her response is not how I would have done it, but then again, I don't have a big secret like she does. I would like to clarify that I'm not against prostitution or high paid call girls. I'm actually indifferent to this industry. What I take exception to is Leila's issue with it. The fact that she has to disassociate her time as an escort with a different personality is disturbing for me. I actually prefer Charlotte more than Leila. At least Charlotte is honest in her feelings and desires, even if she is merely a persona Leila slips on.

As far as the characters go, I am completely enamoured of Joseph. He is dominating and just so bloody HAWT. I'm not sure why the other characters in the book accuse him of being a prick. I like him just the way he is – ruthless at times. When he takes care of business, he does it so well. I think my favourite character is still Aidan. He's a blatant bisexual who is over the top and comfortable in his own skin. I love his self-confidence. He's not flawless but he's a perfect friend. Moving on to Charlie, why does he keep getting pulled into Leila's messes? I think he receives a bad rap. I like the pieces of Charlie we see. Finally, there is Matt. Matt, stop, just stop. I really don't like Matt. I am happy with his last gesture for Leila at the end, but it really didn't need to happen if he didn't initiate the events forcing Leila into the position of blackmail. Overall, I am much more engaged with the characters this second time around.

The conclusion to this story met my needs and I felt good as each issue was tied off and resolved. I admire how Joseph fixed everything. I lost more respect for Leila due to her amazing ability to make situations from worse to totally screwed up. I give this story a three and a half star. I recommend this story to kinky readers who enjoy conflict and a main character who finally realizes she needs to be comfortable with herself.(less)

After reading the first book in this series, Chairman of the Whored, this one was an auto-buy. Lucy V. Morgan created characters that are as fascinating as they are frustrating, then threw them into a tangled mess of emotions, sex, and love. Joseph’s lack of discretion starts tongues wagging and before long someone discovers all of Leila’s secrets. To protect the things she holds dear, they want her to give up everything that she cares about. But, will she be able to give up the Chairman of the Whored?
A couple of things to mention before I properly start this review. Don’t bother reading it if you haven’t read the first, it won’t make sense. Do read them both though as they are pretty excellent
This book contains knife play and sex with foreign objects so be warned
The female lead is a masochist; there is a lot of sex with pain.

You have been warned…….

Anyhow, in some ways I enjoyed this book far more than the first; I actually liked Joseph in this one which was bloody surprising. He didn’t mellow at all; in some ways he was an even bigger prick, but by God was he a presence. They were like two twisted peas in a pod and it was disturbing to read but is certainly engaging. In the review of the first one, I wrote I’d never read a book where I hated every character in it, but still enjoyed it. This one has a totally different feel and I actually liked all the major players. The first book is a tale of sexual games, and could only be classed as erotica, but I think this one has a twisted romance running throughout its core. The writing is very smooth but my only complaint is that at a couple of points in the book, I couldn’t work out what was going on. The writing is brimming with different descriptive techniques but sometimes they detracted from the happenings of the story; there was a scene where I think they were having anal sex but I honestly still can’t tell you if that was what was definitely going on!

Leila is more conflicted in this one. At some points, it was a little odd because there were constant references to the fact that Charlotte was a complete separate entity to Leila. It felt like a cop-out at certain points, an easy excuse to explain away some of her more dubious character traits. Then Joseph states something that made me blink and consider what was actually going on; Charlotte is created by Leila to explain away all the things that she desires that she feels she shouldn’t. It is Charlotte who likes being fucked with a shoe, it is Charlotte who likes the fact her lover has carved his name across her stomach with a bread-knife and it is Charlotte who likes to be watched during sex. The one thing I really liked about this book is the message that no matter how twisted your desires, as long as you don’t hurt or abuse others, there really is nothing wrong with them.

Joseph is an arse, but I can honestly say that he is an arse that grows on you. He seems to know what she needs, seems to know that no matter how twisted his desires, Leila matches them. Yes, the fact that he has forced her into this arrangement, and is effectively paying her, is inescapable, but I don’t know how either of them mistook what was going on between them as a simple business transaction. He marked her as his, he couldn’t bear her relationship with Matt and he tried to protect her. He has his revenge on someone in this book and the method he uses is twisted and absolutely fucking perfect; I adored it.

My favourite character in the first book was the Aiden and he remains so for the second one. His protectiveness of Leila is lovely and his general attitude was highly entertaining….I want him to find a HEA with a nice boy/girl! There were a host of new characters in this one and the majority of them were fun to read about!

This isn’t an easy read; it’s kinky, twisted and slightly shocking in places. It thrilled me, aroused me and kept me entertained. All the characters are flawed, and they make dubious decisions, but that’s one of the things I liked the most.(less)
