Eleven Minutes: Exclusive Tie-In Story (Fracture #0.5)
by
Megan Miranda (Goodreads Author)
Fracture is told from Delaney's perspective, and if you've read the first two chapters, you know that she falls through the ice in chapter one, and she wakes up 6 days later. And what happens in between—well, that's Decker's story.
This is the story of those eleven minutes, and the six days that follow, from his perspective. Because while it must be terrifying to be trappe...more

Eleven Minutes is everything I was hoping for and more. So much more. Being inside Decker's mind when Delaney falls into the cold water was too much. A tear might have fallen, or two, I won't deny nor confirm. I just fell in love with Decker's character in Fractured. He is so kind, and strong, and brave. He is the boy next door without being cheesy (and seriously hot).

In general, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this proliferation of tie-in stories for popular series. In theory, it could be awesome, especially since a lot of them are free on Amazon or other sites. I definitely am not a fan when they cost 3 dollars and are about fifteen pages long. Anyway, the problem is that, in my limited experience, they don't really add anything to the overall story. They're just a way for the author to gain more money and/or readers. So, I guess, I only like them if...more
Told from Decker's pov, this 28 page story tells what happened the moment Delaney stood, fell, and got pulled out of the ice.
It shows the strong bond that Decker has for Delaney and also makes you wonder if he feels 'more' than he's letting on.
I enjoyed this pre-quel but I kind of wish there was a little more.
Like, when he was making out with that girl. It's not mentioned.

Fracture is a fascinating book. It would be all too easy to pigeonhole it as paranormal, but in actuality it is a medical thriller, and that (for this reviewer) is a welcome first in YA. Miranda has a medical background and has clearly done additional research. From the moment Delany wakes from her coma, the details of her condition, reaction and rehabilitation are both real and frightening. At it’s core, the story explores how little we know about the human brain and posits that many things may...more
Eleven Minutes is told from Decker’s perspective, and it is a tie-in to
Fracture
. It is always nice to be able to read what happens from another character’s perspective, especially if that character is Decker. I adored him in
Fracture
, and I enjoyed learning more about him and getting his take on things. The story encompasses the eleven minutes Delaney was under the ice and the subsequent days she spent in a coma. Decker is desperate for Delaney to wake up, and he spends most of the time feeli...more

I loved Megan Miranda's debut novel, Fracture, so I was excited to learn of Eleven Minutes: Exclusive Tie-In Story, a 28 page ebook that is currently only available through the Fracture Facebook fan page. Review Taken From The Pewter Wolf
I have been meaning to read Fracture for a while and, I promise you, I will read it in a month or two! So, when I saw this (and all you have to do to get a copy is tweet or facebook message FOR FREE!), then I was going to read this as... well... it's free. Lame excuse, but still... anything to get good stories read!
So, we know the vague outline of Fracture. Delaney fell through the ice of an ice-covered lake and woke up 6 days later. She was under the ice for 11...more

Heartbreaking. This short story fills in the 6 days that Delany was in a coma, from Decker's point of veiw. It shows his varous stages of guilt, hope and dispair. You can feel how much he loves her (even though he doesnt realize it himself yet) and it breaks your heart.
I would have liked for the scene where she woke up to be included. But it leaves off when he runs down the hallway. Also the bit where Tara turns up to distract him wasnt included. Maybe this is some sort of way of saying that he...more

Eleven Minutes elaborates on the events just before and after Delaney’s fall on thin ice, all from Decker’s perspective. I have already read Fracture, but this short story allowed me to appreciate more Decker’s role in rescuing Delaney.
Decker is a mess. I thought this when I read the first page of the story, packed with mentions of death. This stands in comparison to Decker’s sweet memories of Delaney. As he tunes out the rest of the world, Decker believes that, even if he is waiting for Delane...more

I absolutely loved Fracture and I have to confess to having a bit of a crush on Decker so I was excited when I found out about Eleven Minutes, a free short story told from his perspective. Decker tells his version of what happened during the eleven minutes that Delaney spent underwater and the six days that she spent in a coma after being rescued. Although this is a short story it is an emotional read and one that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

After reading Fracture and finding out that there was this short story, I knew I had to read it. I LOVED IT!! I love that it was from Decker's point of view. I love that it counts the minutes that Delaney is submerged and tells what is happening outside the frozen lake. I love that we got to hear Decker's thoughts through all of this. The only thing that I thought was missing was when Decker and Tara are in the elevator, I would have liked to know how that conversation happened. Oh well it was s...more
I think I might give this 4-1/2 stars. I really, really liked this look into Decker's experience.
You already know what this is about: what Decker went through when Delaney fell in the lake and the six days that followed. One of my favorite quotes in Fracture was when he tells her that he would have traded anyone, everyone for her. I loved that part of this novella: his actual thought process of who he'd be willing to give up if he could just have Delaney back.

After reading Fracture (which I gave five stars, it was awesome), I got my eyes on this exclusive Tie-In Story, 'Eleven Minutes'.
I think because I loved Fracture, I had very high hopes on this one too. I was hoping for some surprising moments, but honestly: we didn't get them.
Eleven Minutes was good, sure it was. But something was missing. I had the feeling while reading it, that I already knew what happened in the eleven minutes. There was nothing new.

Oh, this was depressing. But still, so good. I love Decker. And I am so happy with 26 pages from his POV :) Even though they are sad. So sad. This short story describes what Decker went through in those eleven minutes and six days. It is heartbreaking. But I am also glad I read it. <3
I'm hoping Megan will write more outtakes from Fracture. What I want the most is a few happy future takes. That takes place after Fracture. I just want some more romance, and some happy times :)

I absolutely loved this short little story! I adored Fracture, and I especially adored the friendship between Delaney and Decker, so getting to read about her accident from his point of view was wonderful.

Okay, so I haven't read Fracture but it popped up on my feed, and then I noticed this short story as well, and saw that it was available to read for free online. (Click the facebook link!) So I decided to do that and OHMYGOSH I want to read Fracture, like, yesterday. I LOVED the writing in this and am quite fascinated in the brief part of the tale it told, it definitely whet my appetite for more :)
The "pay with a tweet" thing is a nice idea but an enormous pain to conquer despite MULTIPLE attempts <.< This short better be good...
Definitely good. Had me feeling the desperation and the urgency Decker was feeling. Loved that it was so much how he was thinking...direct thoughts, not "I felt [insert emotion here]"...again with the urgency and desperation and guilt...

This is a short story covering Decker's POV during Delaney's drowning and days spent in a coma. It is powerful stuff for 28 pages... I really can't recommend it enough!!
Decker spends much of this inner monologue considering what it feels like to drown, and it is very involving. He also reflects on what was, and what is... which is heartbreaking as he stubbornly refuses to give up hope while everyone else around him gradually starts trying to say goodbye to Delaney.

Decker I love you!!!!! You've totally just made my boyfirnd list. I could feel his pain, his panic, his complete fear and sadness and also his overwhelming guilt. I had a problem with Fracture but this short story was awesome. I wish the whole book would be from his point of view. I loved all 28 pages of it and wish it were longer. Loved it!!!!
4.5 stars on this one.
It was so interesting to read Decker's experience of when Delaney fell through the ice and how the following six days flowed. The way Miranda writes this was gripping. Obviously we didn't get any of that in the original story because it focuses on things from Delaney's perspective but I am so glad this was written. It is clear Decker feels responsible and although there was a sense of this in Fracture, it is the focus of this story.

Having read Fracture, I know what's going to happen but hearing it from Decker's POV? Totally different. My heart was breaking, absolutely breaking while reading this. Knowing what comes doesn't make a difference. I love Decker and getting to see those days of when Delaney was in a coma was amazing. My only issue? It was too damn short.
I've read it twice and my heart broke each time. I just wanted to give Decker a hug. He deserves a hug.

huh. this one was interesting. a little short story based off of Megan Miranda's Fracture. Well, not really based off of since it's Decker's story when Delaney slipped into a coma after being in the water for eleven minutes. I've read and enjoyed Fracture, but it was interesting to see what happened during the six days Delaney was in her coma. I'd recommend to those who are intrigued by Miranda's writing style and Fracture.
11 Minutes is told from Decker's POV about what happened in those 11 minutes that Delaney drowned on Falcon Lake in Fracture. I loved all the flashbacks that popped into Decker's mind when he saw Delaney drowning because you got to see how their friendship was like. It was short, sweet, and I wished there was more from Decker's POV.
A short review for a short story.
My overall opinion: it was good. Nothing new, nothing unexpected, but good. It's always interesting to see the story (especially the parts untold) from the points of view of other characters. All in all, not earth-shattering, but most definitely a good dose of satisfaction for Decker fans.

This is a companion story for FRACTURE. It's in the POV of Decker, so we get to find out what he went through when his best friend Delaney dies for eleven minutes.
It's full of raw emotion, his personal guilt, and is totally heartbreaking. It was sad, but I really enjoyed this well-written short.
Can't wait to read more from this author.

A short e-book tie in I was given this week eleven minutes is an interesting additional read if you've read fracture. I enjoyed it and the perspective it gave to the story that I had already enjoyed and a character I loved. I think might love him a little bit more now! Really recommended if you enjoyed fracture.
This was a very good, very detailed and well-written short story - I was impressed by the completeness of it. It also doesn't hurt that it's from Decker's perspective and I loved him in
Fracture
. Short but sweet and not without emotion, Eleven Minutes is a look into another viewpoint for the first events from the full-length novel - and an interesting one for fans who want more of Megan Miranda's debut.
