Three young boys on a collision course: Albert Sterne – isolated, driven and fiercely intellectual; Fletcher Ash – bright, dedicated and with a strong sense of justice; John Garrett – hurt, marginalised and determined to do to the world exactly what the world has done to him. The eleven short stories in this companion volume continue and expand on the lives of the characte...more

A second book to the series of The Definitive Albert J. Sterne; Albert J. Sterne- Future Bright, Past Imperfect is an interesting book combined with Albert’s past, in “The Rending of Cloth and Faith”, and relationship with Fletcher Ash, in “Truths”. In “Island”, the short story tells how he felt during his teenage years and explains how he got into forensic pathology.

In “Life Being What It Is…”, is the story of the past about John Garrett wi

I really enjoyed this companion volume to Albert's first story.

Reading about Fletcher and his family was a joy. Peter, Harley, Beth, Frances and Patrick seemed like real people to me and I became fully immersed in their lives. I felt as if I was right there with them.

It was hard to put my eReader down! I couldn’t wait to see what happened with Fletcher and Albert (even re-reading the first Albert along with this second book was compelling – compulsive, uncontrollable, irresistible ;-)).

I finished The Definitive Albert J. Sterne yesterday, and was feeling that craving for more that often hits after one reads a thoroughly enjoyable novel. I started this one right away, and was delighted to find that instead of being a set of entirely separate short stories, this book is more of a collection of scenes that mostly would have fit nicely within the scope of the first novel, but would have made it a less focused and much longer work. I loved being given more background and angles of...more

One of the first reviews I wrote for Reviews by Jessewave was the review for Julie Bozza's The Definitive Albert J. Sterne. So far, it's my only 5-star review and, if this was an independent book, the review for Future Bright, Past Imperfect would have been another. However, as the blurb says, this is a companion book to the novel and the readers will not be able to fully enjoy it without reading the novel first, so that fact was taken into account. That, by no means, diminishes the exc...more

I enjoyed learning what made both Albert and Fletcher tick; how they became the men they are. I liked Fletcher's family and their careful acceptance of Albert in Fletcher's life. I didn't like the idea of Fletcher being "broken in" by Xavier. Just repugnant.

A must read if you enjoyed the Albert J Sterne novel. It fills some missing scene and back stories from the original novel, as well as two delightful chapters about Albert and Fletcher's immediate future. For a more comprehensive review, please see Lady*M's review.

Omitted scenes and the epilogue to The Definitive Albert J. Sterne

Albert's and Fletcher's story wouldn't be complete without them. Not even John Garrett's.

I loved this book as much as "The Definite Albert J. Sterne". I'm so happy that I got to know the characters even better. I highly recommend reading both books.

I was born in England, and lived most of my life in Australia before returning to the UK a few years ago; my dual nationality means that I am often a bit too cheeky, but will always apologise for it.

I have been writing fiction for almost thirty years, mostly for the enjoyment of myself and my friends, but writing is my love and my vocation so of course that’s where my dreams and ambitions are.
