Read my review of Pyxis - http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
The thing is, I read Pyxis almost a year ago. The magic of the first time just wasn't there anymore when I tried to re-read it, and although I thought I was still eager for the sequel, I really did not have that feeling of anxious anticipation for Book 2 as I did right after I first read Pyxis.
To add fuel to fire, I had expected much entertaining cuteness similar to the previous book in this series, Pyxis. I really enjoyed how Py...more

Alight: The Peril Review on K-Books
There are no words to explain just how excited I was when KC emailed this book to me. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of the first book in this series Pyxis last year and I completely devoured it! I loved every single second of it and have been dying to get my hands on the second book in this series for soooo long. And finally I have it! And I devoured this one even more quickly than teh first one I think. I just could not put this book down. I loved every...more

What an amazing sequel Alight turned out to be!! Going into Alight I was a little worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations after having loved book one Pyxis so much, but now I can easily say Alight was AMAZING! I would even go as far as to saying I loved Alight more than Pyxis!
K.C. Neal has easily become one of my favorite authors, her writing in Pyxis was incredible, and I feel it only got better in Alight. All the sceneries of the fog, the cove, the bottles, the nets, the field everythi...more

Not losing any steam, Alight picks up shortly after the events in Pyxis. Readers are immediately thrust back into the chaotic world of Corinne, Angeline, and Mason. I felt like a prodigal daughter returning home, I didn’t realize how much I truly missed these charismatic characters until I began lingering over their every word. Once again, Neal has delivered a phenomenal body of work;...more

Last year when I finished reading Pyxis , I couldn't wait to get my hands on Alight. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and I was eager to get back into the world of Corinne, Mason and Angeline. I expected Alight to be full of thrill, action, humor and a heart pounding romance as Pyxis had in it. While I did enjoy the story, action, humor and the adventures, the plot that would keep you guessing till the end and the romance that would have an air of expectancy in it was just not there. Whil...more
Alight picks up right where Pyxis left off. Corrine now knows who the second guardian is and the emotional roller coaster that ensues is marvelous! While her bond has grown deeper with Mason, the appearance of the mysterious Zane throws quite a kink into the story. As Corrine struggles to unify her pyramidal union she discovers her enemy is growing stronger and wants to take everything from her. I loved how when it came down to the biggest fight, the last person Corrine ever expected to help her...more
It's been over a year since I read the first Pyxis book, The Discovery, which was easily one of my favourite reads of 2011. The cliffhanger had me waiting with bated breath for Alight – what was going to happen to Corinne, Mason, and Angeline now? And who would this other guardian be? My expectations were high.
Unfortunately, Alight has that middle-syndrome; where the novel acts as a bridge to the beginning and end of a series, causing the plot to slow down (something Catching Fire by Suzanne Col...more

I've read Pyxis in a lightning speed and enjoyed it beyong means. It was a beatifully crafted book and I am grateful that I get to read it. Now, we have Alight. Second book of the series by Neal and this one didn't disappoint either.
Alight picks up from where Pyxis left off and Neal didn't stop to take a breather since the action blasted off from the very first page. The ending of Pyxis was cliffhanger enough to make me salivate for Alight and after reading it, I cannot praise Neal enough. Both...more

Alight drops you right back where we left off at the end of Pyxis. Corrine is back as the center of her pyramidal union. She tries to be strong, but struggles with the weight of her responsibilities as the others look to her for guidance. Her bestie, Angeline, has accepted her fate, and enjoys being a part of something important. Though Mason and Corrine grew close in Pyxis, they are still trying to figure out how they belong to each other outside of magic. Dorothy is back as Corrine’s aunt and...more
Alight: The Peril, the second installment in the Pyxis series, picks up from where the first book left off. The overall story wasn’t what I had expected, but it was a lot more thrilling than the first book.
In Alight, Corinne has to fight evil forces when a string of mysterious illness strikes Tapestry. But before that, she has to figure out who her second Guardian is to complete the Tapestry Pyramidal Union. And along the way, she discovers that they aren’t the only Union ever exists. Whereas Py...more

'Alight' is the second book in the Pyxis series, which follows the main character, Corinne, as she continues to learn about her role as the Pyxis and what her abilities are. When Corinne finally learns the identity of the second Guardian, she has to figure out a way to play nice or risk everything. While she's trying to make peace, her nemesis unleashes a horrible illness against Corinne's friends. Unable to cope, she flees to the dream world where she meets Zane, who changes her life forever. Thank you author, K.C. Neal for providing this e-book for review. I thoroughly enjoyed Pyxis (*coughs* especially Mason *coughs*) and have been really looking forward to being, "Alighted". ;)
Alight picks up where Pyxis left off and does not disappoint! Corrine is charged with honing her skills, navigating her feelings for Mason and finishing up her Sophomore year all while waiting for the other Guardian to reveal him or herself. (No pressure or anything.) She doesn't have to wait long for other...more

I really loved Pyxis, so I was looking forward to getting back into this world that K.C. Neal has created for us. I quickly got reacquainted with the characters and easily fell back into the story. I had forgotten how much I loved Angeline, Corrine, and Mason. This dives right back into things and progresses to give us new dangers and threats. Also along with that are some complications that Corrine and the rest of her Union must deal with. Everything seems to be working against them, but as a U...more
I found this series interesting enough to keep reading, but not a complicated plot by any means- I believe this is for a younger age group than I usually read (I read a lot of teen fantasy, but that can encompass a big difference in the maturity of the intended reader). Anyway it was refreshing to have a different fantasy- no werewolves and vampires, just some mysterious magical potions that can influence behavior. I was a little put off that the author felt the need to go with the teen cliche o...more
As far as second books go, Alight: Peril (Pyxis book 2) was absolutely amazing! Having gotten to know all of the main characters is book one, I was ready for some action in this book and definitely was not disappointed! Every turn of the page brought something new, whether it was a new fight, the nearness of the Summer Solstice, or seeing Zane, the hot Aussie Shield. *swoon* A very well-written, fast paced novel that leaves me breathless for the next book.

Most of K.C. Neal's days are filled with some combination of writing, reading, gardening, working, and watching stuff on Netflix with her husband and their maltipoo, Oscar. She has an irrational fixation with L.A., and during occasional trips there she pretends her life is more glamorous than it really is ("Entourage" is her guilty pleasure). She likes to surf and hang out on sandy beaches, especi...more
