I have come to the conclusion that alternate points of view between two main characters can be an invaluable literary device. I loved seeing things from Kallen's perspective--it made him so much more relatable, and I ended up loving him so much more than I already did!
Recommended so long as you have already read the first book in the series.

I've a different review posted for Book#8.
But from 1-7, this series is just awesome.

Xandra is coming of age and learns a whole new world and about herself.
She deals with many challenges and comes off as any teenager - a bit confused, a bit arrogant, chastened by elders and at times rebellious.

Kallen is the character that shines in this series.
He is powerful but his power is easily overshadowed by the more powerful Xand

Whilst this book is the same story as "True of Blood", it gives you Kallen's perspective and insights into what he is feeling about meeting Xandra and having to abandon his home for that of the Cowan World. I enjoyed being able to understand the motivations behind some of the things Kallen did making him more endearing as initially he was not that lovable but he did grow on me. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

I have loved every book in this series and this one was no exception. It was an interesting take on the first book in the series. I loved seeing things from kallen's point of view. I can't wait for the next book in this great series. Hope it comes out soon.

Wow, I liked Kallen's version too!
It made me see things through Kallen's point of view. But I can't say it made me like him more. I mean, I ended up liking him in both books, but I think I liked him even less in the beginning in this version especially because I could see what was on his mind. He acted like a real jerk often times.

I'm afraid this wasn't as good as the first book. While it is interesting to see how Kallen viewed different things that happened in "True of Blood" it isn't really necessary to read this book. It is kind of repetitive.

to see Kallen's side of the story is very eye opening. To know that from day one he was uneasy about what is going on. Plus he is into Xander from the moment he layed and eye one her
