Before I say anything about Marked, I would like to admit that I don't like werewolves as much as I like other paranormal creatures like vampires, witches, revenants or zombies. That being said, reading Marked totally changed my view of werewolves. They are nothing short of awesomeness and Marked showed me exactly how much!

Before I say anything about Marked, I would like to admit that I don't like werewolves as much as I like other paranormal creatures like vampires, witches, revenants or zombies. That being said, reading Marked totally changed my view of werewolves. They are nothing short of awesomeness and Marked showed me exactly how much!

I adore Tessa Morganton, she is the embodiment of impulsiveness, she likes the thrill of adrenaline running through her veins. But she doesn't know it yet. Life is pretty normal in the small town of Breckwater for Tessa. Well, apart from small occasional bursts of jealousy from her boyfriend, Sam and her weird dreams about werewolf bites. But then things literally take a turn for change as soon as Jace Fowler steps into the diner Tessa works at.

Jace is an excitingly mysterious character. He has the charming act perfected to a tee, but he is honest and somewhat troubled at the same time. Pretty complex, if you ask me. He is very full of himself at times and more confident than Tessa have ever been. The chemistry between Tessa and Jace is there from the first moment they meet which surprises Jace. Then he sees Tessa's birthmark. And he lives in the creepy house owned by his uncle.

The subplots in the book, such as the boyfriend Sam and the role of Tessa's parents and Jace's cousins were perfectly balanced. Sam is a difficult person to deal with and for Tessa he became a bad habit she found difficult to break out of. Tessa's mom, on the other hand, doesn't really like Jace. I couldn't figure out exactly why was that. Tessa's best friend, Rachel, is an easygoing character in the book who never really took things too seriously.

Marked is a fast-paced book and so there's always something happening in it. I like that in books and I managed to finish it in one sitting! I would highly recommend Marked to readers of young adult paranormal books. Changed will be releasing in June 2012 and I can't want for it to be released!(less)

This book is just the type of book i like to read.

It starts off a bit confusing with Tessa working in a small diner with her best friend Rachel, her very insucure boyfirend Sam sits at a nearby table and soon walks in Jace...

Tessa starts to date jace and breaks up with sam and soon she finds out what Jace is and what she has become.

There is a lot more to the story and i would userally write about it all, But with marked it just feels like the more of a surprise you get the better ! ;)

I enjoyed this book and I will most likely read the next book in the series. The author made it so that this book could almost be a stand alone, but we know that the story is only beginning. In all honesty there was nothing about the book that wowed me and made me want to continue reading it. So, I would say for me that it is average and that doesn't mean that the book is bad. heart flip-flop. Language is delivered with ease and focuses more on content than on particulars of structure. There is definitely a lyrical placement of words; I was tempted to speak them as I was reading because they would just roll right off. The book also has good pace, it glides you through all the events and minutae to arrive at a complete picture, and then it takes the picture further through yet another cycle of important minutae.

Oh, Jace. This character is so well created it made ME crush on him a little. He's all kinds of perfect, and yet so imperfect. "There was jus something about him that I couldn't resist." He was setting out to show her (Tessa) how she should be treated. He's even considerate to ask if she has any allergies to any of the ingredients he's using to cook for her.

I really love the maturity of this book. I was completely enthralled moment to moment. It is definitely a page turner. I especially love how Tessa describes her relationship to Sam as a bad habit, and how they're always the hardest to break. This book really took me by surprise. It more than exceeded my expectations. It is really a worthy read.

OH all the 'lines' Jace throws at her (yes, we're back to Jace... it's like another Edward Cullen). Smitten yet slightly feeling the cliche moment. "You look beautiful." "You could do better." "I'll show you how you should be treated." "Nothing compared to the alluring effect you have on me." He definitely had a sultry and hypnotic tone about him. His boldness takes you by surprise and renders you speechless, it's what's mesmerizing about him. Jace is definitely an arrogant character. But he is terribly romantic. He kept leaving her these flowers on her windshield.
"Days passed without seeing Jace again, but every night I worked, I found another rose attached to my windshield. On the nights I didn't work, I'd find one the next afternoon, once school had let out, beneath my windshield wiper blad. None of them ever had a note besides the first, but I didn't need ont to know who'd left them."
Oh and then to top it off he comes by with two yellow roses, one for all the tears he had made her shed, and the other for asking for her forgiveness.
HA! I have to mention this tid-bit, because I know someone exactly like this. He doesn't have a cell-phone. That's cool! I love his reasoning for why he doesn't have one. "Because... once a person gets one, it's like it rules their whole life or something. Think about it. People feel naked if they leave the thing at home. Oh, and the whole text messaging thing - very impersonal. Besides, if I want to talk to you I'll find you, because there's never a time when I just want to talk to you. I want to see you, too. I like seeing your expressions and gazing into your beautiful eyes. It's all more intimate."
This is a great adventure, full of suspence and surprises, all the way to the end. The ending is probably the best of it all. "You've always been marked for change," is what Jace says to Tessa towards the end. I think I froze a little when I read that. But he is a little selfish, besides being arrogant and egotistical. He says to her, "Have you ever felt so lost inside, like you don't know yourself and you're not sure if you ever will? That's how I felt every day... but that feeling went away the day I first saw you. It was like something inside of me sparked to life and I knew if I were to ever let you go that little spark would die out again." Some how even though Tessa is the main character, Jace definitely took over the story for me. I want to be smitten by him, but also hate him, and then be smitten by him again.

Really, a very well written book. I'm glad I got the chance to read this book. I've also posted an excerpt to give people an idea what they are in for with this book. Check it out (less)

I found this werewolf story interesting, as it followed the traditional take on the werewolf myth. The idea that they turn into wolves during the night of a full moon.I haven’t read a story in a long time that actually followed the myth. It was a draw that made me love and enjoy the book.

Things start getting weird when she beings to have nightmares after an encounter with what she thought was a wolf in the woods. As she starts to get to know Jace, more people he knows start to drop by unannounced causing trouble for Tessa and her releationship with Jace. She always thought she was a normal, everyday girl until she met Jace and her life gets turned upside down.

This story takes place in Breckwater, a town in the USA. It’s a small town with just a Walmart and a bowling alley. It's the kind of town were there's not much to do, so people have parties to break up the monotony. A majority of the story takes place either at the diner where Tessa works, or at Jace's or Tessa's house.

Tessa is your average, everyday teenager. She has a job, and parents her care for her enough to give her a curfew to follow, because if not then she would actually get grounded. I was glad that she broke up with her boyfriend Sam after seeing how he treated her. He didn’t seem to trust her at all and Jace treats her a lot better then Sam did. After that Tessa spent almost everyday with Jace and even when she was grounded they found a way to see each other. I found their interactions between each other to be cute, since you can see how much they care for each other. Near the ending though, after what Jace did to her, I probably would have taken more time before forgiving him. She was too forgiving. I understand that she loved him, but he just turned her life upside down without asking or telling her anything. In my perspective, she should have been scared and angry at him, but then I’m also glad they somehow worked things out at the end. She trusts him enough to know he wouldn’t leave her.

Jace seems like a sweet guy when you meet him. He’s nice to Tessa, caring and doing anything for her. He even does sweet things like leave yellow roses (her favorite flower) for her when they couldn’t spend time together. He does have his scary side, like when he started to beat Sam, not stopping at all. This caused Tessa to become afraid of him for a while, but she does end up forgiving him. What I don't like about him was the fact that he turned Tessa into a werewolf without talking to her first or warning her. If it would me, I would have never forgiven him for doing something that life changing to me.

Tessa's and Jace's friends make up the cast of secondary characters. Rachel is Tessa’s best friend, taking Tessa to all the best parties. She’s there for Tessa when she needs her, and she also works at the diner where Tessa works. As I mentioned earlier, Sam is Tessa's ex-boyfriend, and I’m glad he’s an ex after the way he treated Tessa. He didn't trust her, and everytime she went near a guy he thought she was flirting with him. He was just overly jealous and possessive character . Lastly, you have Jace’s friends from Ohio. Jace describes them as Jenna being a friend, Gravin is an arrogant ass and Shelby is his ex-girlfriend. They aren’t in the story long, but enough for Shelby to start things up between Jace and Tessa.

Overall
If you like the popular tale of werewolves, you will love this book. I found it to be a great read. (less)

I read Marked and Changed back to back so it is going to be a little bit hard for me to distinguish between the two books but I will do my best. It helps that there is a very clear turning point between the two. Let's start with that. I LOVED that Marked did not end with a cliff-hanger. It ended in the perfect spot in my opinion- something big had happened a few chapters back and Tessa was just starting to deal with the reprecussions. I’ll be honest, my expectations going into this book weren’t high. I thought it would be a quick read while I was waiting for another book to come out. I wasn’t even sure if I’d finish it. But, boy was I wrong! I REALLY enjoyed it. It’s not a book full of action, or high drama, its character based. So, marked....
I read it in a few hours, its the 4th book I started in one day, but the only one I made to the end...having said that, I'm not sure i'll read the next book...it's not that Marked was bad....it was just very passive....very low key, non exciting....only a couple steps away from boring....nothing even happens till well past the 50% mark. I love werewolf books and i loved reading this too.
Tessa is normal teenager with friends,family and school but then she meets jace and her life becomes more interesting and also dangerous only she doesn't know it.Yet.
Breaking with Sam,Becoming close to Jace,Facing Jace's ex,And coping his secrets are just a start and when she faces the most dangerous stuff which she wants to avoid as her dreams shows makes her life upturned.

I loved this book!!! The book really had me going. I stayed up a whole SCHOOL NIGHT just to finish it. Though my parents didn't like that I was crabby in the morning, the book was worth it. My favorite character is Jace. I mean he's a werewolf, hot and also he's super awesome and kind and he cares a lot. When I saw that the second book had come out I almost screamed. Waaaaay better than The Mayfair Moon which I read before this. Sam was a controlling dickwad, BFF Rachael was the perfect antithesis for good girl Tess, and Jace....well I have few words for you Jace. I really liked the Tessa and her reactions are true and that of a strong woman. She gets that Jace has been unfair, sneaky and underhanded but she accepts that she wants him and moves past it. I just cant get over how selfish Jace is...... he took her choices away

Marked was a good start to a new YA werewolf series. It was wonderfully paced and consistent the whole way till the end! I had no desire to sit the book down at any point.

The main character is Tessa a seventeen year old with a jerk of a boyfriend. She soon wises up and replaces him with Jace. She doesn't know it but Jace is a werewolf. We follow along as Tessa and Jace's relationship continues to grow.

I really don't understand why this book is so underrated, maybe more people need to read it? Regardless, I really liked the story. I got into it immediately. I appreciate that the main characters didn't immediately start the I love you's despite the instant connection. I don't think I found anything about it that i didn't like. I am, however, sad that it ended so ubruptly. I look forward to reading book 2!

I was pleasantly surprised by these books and really enjoyed them. I devoured them in just a few short days, and I was definitely sad to say goodbye to that world. (It's a duology, so sadly no more Tessa and Jace for me.)

It's definitely YA and a little "schooly," but Tessa was a great main character. It took a while for the paranormal stuff to kick in (about 75% into the first book), but it really took off after that point. Definitely a fun read for me.

Would have been four stars but I could not stand that she just got over what was done to her at the end of the book. Umm, no! Someone takes away my choice about how the rest of my life will turn out when its not absolutely necessary to do so that way and I don't think I would be so easy to forgive and forget.

Okay, I really liked the characters,especially JACE! (how can you not love someone named Jace, hmmm?) and the story line was great. At times it seemed a little rushed, but it wasn't enough to make me dislike anything, now I just have to wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

I really like this story, I am a huge fan of werewolves/vampire stories. This is well written and catches your interest right away.

Just a couple things, not a fan of cheating and the story was not very long. I did download book 2 as soon as I finished though :)
