I've wondered about this publication for YEARS. It's offices are located in PDX and quite a few of the bookstores I frequent sell copies of it. It is published four times a year and I checked out the "Beauty" issue at a local library. I am so glad I did! The fiction, essays, and poetry are all stellar. I like TIN HOUSE. This issue had a good selection of fiction entries including ones by Michel Houellebecq and Maggie Shipstead which I enjoyed very much. This edition was okay. I think that the danger of writing about something like beauty, which, sadly, has become a true cliche in our society is that it can become very heavy-handed or predictable.

There were a few stories in this edition that were really great, though. And there were others that were not so great. I found myself skimming through some things, my eyes glazing over. While others seemed too short to me because all I wanted to do was keep reading.

So it was a bit of a mixed bag.

Great as usual. I breezed through it so fast that I forgot to enter into Goodreads. I really look forward to these. They never fail to please.
