Just when I thought the Mr Dark series might loose its momentum and bore, it deliverd a rip-roaring fast paced story again. Doctor Doom is still on the scene. What he touchs turns to decay and Matt Cahill armed with a razor sharp axe has the ability to see those infected by Mr. Dark's evil energy.
K.Rad is what he wants to be known as, a killing machine trying to claim fame for himself. In reality he is Kevin Radowski a fired factory plant worker who is now even more full of rage and pent up on c

Matt Cahill, the living dead man, knew where he was headed next when he saw the highway billboard. Nitko Chemicals, the smiling head was rotting with maggots coming from vacant eye holes. Only he could see that, a result of his three months a frozen corpse after getting caught in an avalanche, only to come back to life when he thawed.

Ever since, he saw the coming evil in people's faces, the end result of someone-something?-he'd called Mr. Dark. An evil entity that had some sort of plan for Matt.

Book #8 in the series was a very quick read. An appearance by Mr. Dark again, but this time Matt is working at a plant that manufactures Fire and Ice cleaning solutions. The entire book is built around the 24 hour concept (from the TV show), but in less than 24 hours in this case (maybe 6?). A disgrutled employee goes "postal" at his place of employment, and then Mr. Dark steps in to make things more interesting. While I felt this book was something seen on TV or in movies before, it was a fresh ...more

The Dead Man series has taken place in some pretty crazy places through the series, so it only makes sense that Matt Cahill would wind up in Florida at some point. If the news has anything to say on the matter, that place is cray-zee.

And that's exactly what happens in the little town of Copperhead Springs when K-Rad, a disgruntled ex-employee for the Nitko industrial plant, sneaks his way onto the property while the bosses are away and commences killing his former co-workers. Enter Matt Cahill.

Matt is in Florida, where he has taken a job at a chemical plant, whose main products are cleaning agents called Fire and Ice. He decided to work there when he saw a billboard for the company showing a man with the typical face lesions and sores that he associates with evil, and he wants to find out what Mr. Dark has in mind for these people. It is his third day and so far he hasn’t seen anything – until, that is, he goes to the office building and finds some people murdered – and realizes that ...more

Continuing the episodic and almost scripted for TV feel of the previous Dead Man novellas, FIRE AND ICE (#8) author Jude Hardin pits series protagonist Matt Cahill against a determined and disgruntled employee at a chemicals plant in the midst of a killing spree. Mr. Dark has spun his deadly web, sinking his venomous teeth into Cahill’s love interest and K-Rad (killer) alike. Only Cahill has the power to stop this contained mayhem from spreading out to the broader community. FIRE AND ICE is a qu ...more

GREAT installment! I was so bummed after reading the last one. This one has more than made up for it. Great story that is consistent with the series. I loved the story of this one. An ex-employee goes into his old workplace and shoots it up and it is up to The Dead Man to make things right. Great. Now to eagerly await the next one

I like these stories a lot. This one would make a great standalone action film with a little filler thrown in. But then, the absence of filler is probably a huge part of my fondness for these stories.

Super fast-paced installment of the DEAD MAN series with Matt battling a rampaging killer (and the forces of Mr. Dark) at a southern chemical plant.

Another excellent episode in Matt Cahill's travels. Nothing here unexpected but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Probably the tightest story in the series to date. Only marred by an overly cruel murder.

One of the shortest yet of this series of short books. Another quick and fun read.
