A Patchwork Christmas Collection is a wonderful book to curl up to for the holidays. It includes many of my favourite authors, Judith Miller, Nancy Moser and Stephanie Grace Whitson.

Seems Like Love by Judith Miller is about Karla Stuke of the Amana Colonies in 1890. Karla's faith in men was destroyed when her fiancee dumped her for another woman. She had been making a wedding quilt, oblivious to the fact that her intended had found someone else. When Frank Lehner returns to Amana he is delighted...more

Christmas is in the air with this collection of holiday-themed novels, accompanied by quilt-making and baking. Judith Miller, Nancy Moser, and Stephanie Grace Whitson bring three unique stories to readers in "A Patchwork Christmas." Despite their differences, all three novellas felt melancholy until concluding with a happy ending. It is often difficult for me to develop connections to the characters in short stories, which proved to be the case in this collection.

Sometimes it can be hard to find the time to read a really great Christmas story because so often we are too busy that reading a large novel be difficult. In A Patchwork Christmas by Judith Miller, Nancy Moser, and Stephanie Grace Whitson, the reader will be delighted to find three beautifully written short stories that give the reader the impression of reading a full length novel. Each is different and based in the historical late 1800's. This book is perfect for those of you wanting a taste of...more

"A Patchwork Christmas" is an enjoyable collection of three Christmas stories from Victorian-era America, with an added bonus of sewing patterns and cookie recipes included at the end of each story. Sewing patterns are from various unique pieces mentioned in the stories: homestead rose mittens, four patch doll quilt, and crazy quilt ornaments.

In A Patchwork Christmas Collection, we have three Christmas stories in one beautiful book, from three very well know, gifted authors. And not only do we get three wonderful stories to read, this book gives a few bonuses. After each story, there are mouthwatering recipes that you’ve read about in the stories. And that’s not all. Seems Like Love is the first of the three novellas in A Patchwork Christmas. Karla works in a small hotel and happens to be a talented quilter. One afternoon while working on a quilt that she must finish as quickly as possible a guest arrives and catches her off guard. It's her childhood friend, Frank. She is very aware of how attractive he is but her heart was broken when her fiance dumped her and married someone else. She feels plain and unwanted by any man. This is the story of how he comes t...more

4 STARS This three complete stories that draw your emotions. One thing I like are at the end of the novels have reciepes, patterns and bookclub questions. Those extras are a nice bonus to the books. Seams Like Love by Judith Miller is about a religion I have never heard about called Inspirationists. Karla Stuke was working at her family business the hotel in Iowa when a new quest comes into register. It's Frank Lehner a old child friend of hers. He has been away to become a pharmacist. Frank is g...more

Three authors team up in their new book, “A Patchwork Christmas Collection” published by Barbour Publishing Inc. to give us three Historical Romances during the 1800′s.

From the back cover: Three women each patch together unexpected love

It is the late Victorian-era America, a time when women marry for convenience as often as they marry for love. When passion seems a distant hope, how delightful it is that God surprises three young women with second-chance love just in time for the holidays…

"A Patchwork Christmas Collection" by Judith Miller, Nancy Moser and Stephanie

Grace Whitson were three wonderful historical Christmas stories. These three authors were able to present stories and in the end the reader is treated with a bonus... with recipes and even a craft pattern that you can make that relates to something in the that par...more

All three of these short stories were based in the 1800's.

Judith Miller's, Seems Like Love, was a sweet story of second chances. Frank Lehner shows up at the towns hotel where Karla is working. Is the attraction still there after all these years? A great story.

Stephanie Whitson did a very good job in A Patchwork Love. Molly, Jane and Peter found togetherness as a family. I would have liked to see a conjugation of their story. Of all three this one was my favorite.

Nancy Moser's, The Bridal Qui...more

Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.
Another of the barbour novellas. I found this to be a good read. Loved the 3 totally different stories from 3 totally different walks of life. In the first book we are in the Amana colonies and see there way of life. The second a poor widow is travelling to the city in hopes of marrying a man she has been writing too and the third is a socialite who's has been sheltered from the harsher side of life and is being groomed to marry well. Each story is so diffe...more

I liked the 3 different stories in this book. Each story is unique and entertaining. I thought the authors all wrote with their individual style and this made each story enjoyable. The setting for these stories is the late 1800’s during the holiday season. Each story has discussion questions at the end in case you want to read this book with a group.

I liked that the stories were not your typical romance. They had circumstance that could reflect a real life incident. The first story is about a gi...more

The stories got better with each one. The last story was wonderful-- just what I like for a Christmas story. That one I would love to have made into a full length novel and continue the story.
Lily
The second story was very cute but did not read the first and the last one as the topics did not appeal to me...nothing to do with the writers
Sharon Galligar-Chance

All three of these stories are heartwarming and full of romance and fun. Additional recipes, plus quilt and knitting patterns, make this book a wonderful experience to read or to give as a gift.

Will try this one again next Christmas Season. It just didn't grab me in the beginning. I would give it another try though. Sometimes it just isn't the right moment to get into a new book and that was probably the case here. So try it and see what you think. The authors are well known and I love many of their other books.
