An unmarried woman living in a house of men breeds hearsay and lore. If only the villagers knew the truth.

It’s not Jem Stonehouse’s marital status that brings unwanted strangers to town. Rather, it’s that she is the only female werewolf in existence — a prize to any pack.

Sean Holloway, the love of Jem’s life, has gone to great lengths to protect her. As a new attack become...more

* I received this ebook from the publisher as an ARC for an honest review*

This was a good little historical romance! I usually dont like reading historical romances but this one was okay...The first few chapters were slow to me and I was still trying to grasp the characters and what was happening. When I got to about 30% in the story started to pick up and I was anxious to feel out the storyline which was interesting but not entirely in some ways because it was sort of predictable.

Over all it...more

It's no surprise that I absolutely love this series, and the characters in it, so I wasn't shocked when I finally picked up my Kindle and started my copy of Eternal and devoured it. :D It wasn't very long, but it was amazing. I loved seeing what happened to the first Sean and Jem after they met and fell in love in Instinct, and in this one you see how their lives become woven together and why their love will be bound together for eternity.

After reading Eternal, I feel like I understand the backs...more

Eternal (Holloway Pack 0.5) is a prequel to the Holloway Pack series written by J.A. Belfield. I read this as a R2R with Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! As always, a special thank you to the mods and author for allowing me to participate.

The Review:
This was a sweet little novella about Jem and Sean, how they become married, and a little insight into what their lives were like in their past life, before the series book one, Darkness & Light. We get to see how Jem and Sean l...more

I always enjoy series where there is more than one kind of supernatural power overlapping, and in this book I enjoyed the interplay between Jem and her family, and the marriage ritual was very sweet.

I was disappointed in the limited use of Jem's werewolf nature - she often seemed to behave simply as a regular woman who happened to be a werewolf, rather than the wolf being a part of her even in her human form. We did start to see that a bit at the end, but it wasn't as integral to her character a...more

Before reading this book I thought that it was just a paranormal romance and I didn’t realise that it was also historical. I still liked it though which was a surprise considering that I usually hate historical romances. It shows how good this book is that despite it being in a genre that I normally don’t like I am still giving it four stars.

I loved this take on werewolf legends with our protagonist Jem being the only known female werewolf. As you would expect this leads to lots of tension, as...more

I was introduced to Sean and Jem’s story when J.A. Belfield’s debut novel Darkness & Light first came out. I have to say I loved it, a novel I’m sure I'll enjoy reading again in a few years. In the first novel we meet a Jem and Sean from the present, though their great love affair began over a century earlier—their souls permanently connected through a spell. I have to admit, though I loved Darkness & Light, it left me curious about the first couple, the original Jem and Sean.

Sean and Jem's love has only intensified as the years have passed, but recently Sean finds himself increasingly having to protect his mate from threats that wish to take her away. They invade his forest in the hopes of confirming Jem as the only female werewolf in known existence. Sean believes the answer in part is to keep Jem by his side forever with marriage as the first step. However, Jem struggles to believe he truly desires out of love to bind himself to her fully. In response, Jem retreat...more

I was given this book to read through the publisher and Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics R2R group for an honest review, thank you.

(view spoiler)[

First this is a very short story only about 87 pages on my NOOK. It’s told in first person through the eyes of Jem, the only female werewolf as far as anyone knows. I couldn’t identify with Jem, maybe because the story was written in first person, but I couldn’t get a good picture of what kind of person she was other than that she had to h

This novella was interesting, but in a good way! I didn't realized that it had a historical element to it until I started reading it and read to many historical romances :) But I devoured this novella! It was short and sweet :D

The characters were all lovable :) Sean and Jem's mom were probably my favorite characters. Sean was just adorable, with his over proctectiveness, but you have to admire that in a man. You could just tell that he loved Jem so much and the fact that he was a little afraid o...more

I received a copy of Eternal from the Read to Review group on Goodreads, so thanks to the author and mods for making this available. I really need to pay more attention to the books I agree to read, I read the blurb on this one, saw werewolves and pretty much stopped there. While the main characters are werewolves, the prequel is more of a historical romance which needless to say is not really my thing. I know it's a prequel to Darkness and Light and that may be more to my taste as it takes plac...more

While realizing afterwards that the story of Jem and Sean's first meeting and how she became a werewolf was contained in another prequel to this series, I still was able to follow along with their story just fine. I enjoyed the mixture of paranormal with historical in this particular novel, and really enjoyed the side characters. Jem's mother and sister were wonderful as they pushed for the wedding to be both human and mystical and the unusual...more

Let me first say that, I haven't read any of the other novels in the series, but I figured since this was a prequel, no problem. After reading Eternal, I'd suggest reading Darkness & Light first. I'm not a fan of historical reads. I think I would have enjoyed this more if not for that. However, the author does a great job capturing the essense of the time period. The stor...more

MY REVIEW

What can I say, I love the Holloway Pack Series. This one is more aimed for adults as there are a few steamy scenes included in this novella. In this novella we learn more of the romantic tale of the original Sean Holloway and Jem Stonehouse's story. It has it's amusing parts where Sean is scared of Jem's mother, but has to be brave and ask permission to marry Jem. Though the way Sean ...er proposes is not the best....he soon puts the misunderstanding right with Jem. They have two ceremo...more

Eternal is the fabulous prequel story in J.A. Belfield's Holloway Pack Series. It expounds on certain parts of Jem Stonehouse and Sean Holloway's history alluded to in the first novel, Darkness & Light. Jem, Sean, and Jessica are the only familiar names in Eternal. What gives? Set in a different time period, Eternal portrays the past in which Jem and Sean are bound to each other for eternity.

Opening with a steamy scene, Eternal packs a lot of romance in...more

Etneral was a quick read. I do think that this book was to give readers of Darkness & Light (Holloway Pack, #1) a idea of how the characters come together! So I will be reading the next book! To find out more!

That being said.. I really liked the book! it was a historical romance which I enjoy! The character were great and loveable.. Jemm and Sean come along way through the short story! Sean was great you knew how he felt about Jemm. I like how Jemm stood her ground, although I would have li...more

Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
This was my first venture into the Holloway pack series and it was highly enjoyable, although I was a bit lost initially. I read it quickly and am now eager to read the rest to see how these two fair throughout time eternal. The wedding ceremony that binds them permanently thru a spell was a nice twist and a great way to mix the genres.
The whole concept of Jem as the only female werewolf is very interesting. Great way to amp up the tension as she...more

I read Darkness and Light, the first novel in the Holloway Pack series, so I was really interested to see what this prequel novella had in store for me. I was not the least bit disappointed.

In this short, we meet the original Sean and Jem (circa 1800's). If you read Darkness and Light, you understand what that means. I really enjoyed getting a look at the beginning of the Sean/Jem saga, and seeing how that first pair managed to "make it".

I love the Sean in this one and how adorably gruff he is....more

I received a free copy of this novella from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second prequel novella in the Holloway Pack series. I recently read Instinct and thought it was great. I received this one for review and I liked it so much that I've purchased Darkness and Light to continue on with the series.

For a prequel, the characters and plot are very well developed. I loved seeing even more into Sean's and Jem's relationship and their marriage. As with Instinc...more

If you are looking for a very quick read, then this is a book for you. Although quite enjoyable, I did however find the book to be lacking in storyline but this may be due to it being a 30 min read.
We are brought into the wedding plans of two shifters,Sean and Jem as they battle the local town's gossip and an encrouching stranger. Sean is a character you can immediately like as he is a strong Alpha with a need and want to protect his mate. Jem was a human before she was turned and now has to suf...more

Love, love, LOVED this prequel. Eternal is a beautiful paranormal-romance/historical fiction. I think it was beautifully executed and will make you drool for more. Jem and Sean are perfect together and have a really cute relationship that every girl dreams of having. The other characters that Belfield created are also all very well done and don't blend in with the background, they stand out. Even though Eternal is a prequel I feel like it wasn't too short and told the story it needed to tell per...more

I liked this one a lot more than the other novella. It answered all the questions I had at the end of the first one, like what happened to Sean's brother, why was he Alpha now and the binding ceremony. I really loved how Jem came into her own in thei short story and how Sean won the hearts of Jem's mother and sister. Now all we need is a short about what present Jem was constantly seeing in her dreams when Sean bites her. It is their second time together so it would be cool to see how that time...more

I think I would have enjoyed this better had I read the first book before the prequel. I didn't manage to connect with the characters, and I found the story inconsequential. Asking myself, "What is the reason behind this?"

I like Sean, he is a strong alpha male with a need to protect his woman, but the temper of a just-lit stick of dynamite! Lol. He's very broody, but easily likable. What I didn't like was that, him being the alpha, his word is law, correct? Well, it doesn't always seem that way...more
Lee Anne - Give me a Good Romance
JA Belfield's introductory story to the Holloway Pack was a great beginning.

Jem is an amazing heroine. She's full of life and seems to have accepted her fate. She's also not afraid to stand up to Sean, the alpha and her mate. She does this in a way that does not put herself in too much unnecessary harm.

Sean is the typical alpha male. He barks orders and expects them to be obeyed. Yet, when his mate doesn't obey them, he lets it go, to a point. I mean, we all know that women rule even if the man...more

I enjoyed this books as much as Instinct. I liked seeing more of Jem and Seans past. Also in Book 2 the character keep referring to some events and we actually get to see these events as they happen in this book.

This short story is narrated by Jem and it is longer than Instinct. Also this story takes place 3 years after Instinct. Luckily this is mentioned in the book, so there is no confusion, but before I started this book I thought it would take place sooner after Instinct than 3 years. The st...more

The Holloway Pack quickly found a place on my must read list after Darkness and Light and Ms. Belfield’s latest pack installment, Eternal, does not disappoint. I was so excited to receive this as an ARC from the publisher; I could not put it down!

I was the very lucky recipient of an ARC copy of Eternal and devoured it immediately on its arrival travel sickness be damned and wow it was.... it was..... well let’s just say I had to put the AC on and felt somewhat guilty about reading it a meter away from the babies in the back of the car, what an opener!

But seriously Eternal picks up 3 years on from Instinct Jem is firmly entrenched in the pack and the gossipers are in full flow extolling the tale of the unmarried woman living with a group...more

Eternal is a werewolf story with a historical feel to it. That is not my usual type of book. Usualy I struggle to stay interested in historicals or anything resembling them. The fact that I not only read this, but stayed interested the whole way through is a strong testament to how well written it is. J.A. Belfield has a knack for bringing her characters to life. I loved the way they spoke and could easily imagine hearing their voices.

Did I mention that this book is about werewolves? Sean Holl...more

I love, love, love the Holloway Pack! They are fast becoming my all time favorite wolf pack, and that's saying something! And now with Eternal ... wow, just wow. This book is so full of romance and action and suspense ...yes, I know it's a novella, but still... it's got it all.

The story opens up hot and steamy. Belfield wastes no time letting us know how passionately in love Jem and Sean are. I love that!!! I also love...more

I love the Holloway Pack. I love Jem, Sean, Ethan, Nate, Connor, Kyle, Dan and Josh. Oh yes. Yes. Yes, I do.

So, let me tell you about Eternal.

This is prequel #2 (which means story number .5) in the Holloway pack series. It comes after Instinct and before Darkness & Light, yet I read Darkness & Light ages ago. So what’s up with all these prequels? Well … all these awesome novels have stories within the history. And some authors, like J.A. Belfield have taken the time to write about what h...more

One day, a character and scene popped into J. A. Belfield’s head, and she started controlling the little people inside her imagination, as though she were the puppet master and they her toys. Questions arose: What would happen if …? How would they react if …? Who would they meet if …? Before she knew it, a singular scene had become an entire movie. The characters she controlled began to hold conve...more
