Sometimes, Jack on his own can be a lot of fun. I didn't really get that from this one. Sure he has his serious side but I felt that a lot of his personality was missing here. He's usually so much larger than life but we never really got to experience that here. The plot wasn't terrible but it could have used some work and a bit more mystery. This was essentially a series of useless flashbacks and a walk across town and down to the basement.
Very enjoyable as always. The thing I love about torchwood books is that they are so atmospheric. They simply share the same universe. The touchwood world has so much history that it make them so satisfying for a long time reader. The only negatives to this story is that gay themes do spoil it a bit. The "how I cam...more

We've got grey humanoid aliens in great health. A society where eating healthy is divine, no alchohol or drugs, and talk of Jack Harkness(played by John Barrowman)possibly being an Angel. Unfortunately, while Jack was telling the closeted cop that being gay was not a sin, and he wasn't an abomination, ending the story with Jack possibly being a representation of Jesus; Jack falters in maintaining balance. Joseph Lidster ends up promoting drinking, via Jack, while onscreen, Jack has always been a...more
The story explored wonderful themes of madness, depression and religion. Great story and really really well read.
