This is nearly as good as a graphic novel gets, and belongs on a shelf of mahogany, illuminated by a crystalline meteor that emits the golden light of a newborn star. Absolutely perfect story that had the potential to be so much more.

Nick Fury the spy of spies has lived a twisty turny shadowed life as the director of SHIELD. Now deposed by HAMMER after the events of Secret Invasion he is training a group of warriors and putting together teams to do the work that he's been doing his whole life THE RIGHT THING. Twists, and turns, betrayal, death it's all in a day's work for that one eyed man after all you can sleep when you're dead.

Somewhat weak opening (Bendis), good early on, great in the middle, solid ending. Borders on four stars but really only fully earns three.

It’s no small thing to die and be born again.

After a certain amount of time you get tired of wasting talent. Of being part of a fraudulent profession — or actually being a fraud. And, most importantly, not living the life you are capable of having.

I remember the first night I went out with my wife. It was raining, she was beautiful… it was a normal, ordinary, intentionally uneventful, date. But at...more
