This book chronicles the struggles to preserve battlefield land at Manassas,VA. The struggle of commercial development vs historic heritage is shocking. While some battlefields have had better experiences preserving grounds and gaining support, Manassas park officials and interested stakeholders have fought tough battles against Marriott, a local development firm, Disney, and some concerned local residents who were apprehensive about battlefield expansion. A history of the threats to the boundary of Manassas National Battlefield Park...particulary interesting if you live nearby (and wonder why 29 and 234 still go right through the middle). You may expect it to be all about Disney, but that only gets half a chapter.
