Javier has been away from the theatre for whole month and now he is back he find that his feelings for Lilah are just as strong as they were before he left.Not knowing what to do about it he walks into the theatre and is greeted with some bad news. One of the vampires has been attacked and the woman he craves so much is to blame for it.
When Javier goes to question Lilah but things dont go to plan and things start heating up between them. Meaning the both were in so much more trouble then they were before. Becoming one the two decide to go with how they feel and a big fight scene breaks out between Javier and Lilahs owner. Her owner wanting revenge for what had happened. Javier ends up killing her owner and they then have two face the head vampires for what has happened but things turn out well and the two end up with a happy future.

Over all view:
I'm so stuck for word for this one, the story was amazing, so not what I expected. I expected it to be good but not this good. It had be reading and reading because I didn't want to put it down. The story just flowed so easy and it had such a good story line. The scenes in the book where it tells you about whats happening on stage made my toes curl and strange things happen down below *wink*.
I have outlined the story here but believe me there is so much more to this story. The attraction between the two of them is totally toe curling and belly fluttering. The fight scene is so dramatic with other vampires getting dragged into things. I promise you if you get this book to read then you wont want to put it down. I mean its full of romance, action that has you edging to the edge of your seat with excitement and so many erotic sex scenes it will have you needing to change your panties. *wink*. 2.5 Stars. This was an impulse buy from a while back. It was short, far too short for what it cost. The story was decent; a vampire falls in love with another vampires bonded human servant, which makes her off limits to him. Lilah works in the Erotic Theatre of which Javier is part owner, and he can't keep his eyes (and eventually hands) off of her.

When I was asked if I’d like to read and review Covet, I said yes without knowing anything about the book. I was that sure the story would be fantastic because I love Felicity Heaton’s voice. I’m happy to say, Ms. Heaton did not disappoint.

Javier is one of several vampires that own and run the Vampirerotique—a theatre that offers wickedly erotic and sinfully pleasurable shows to other vampires.

Over the last two years he’s become captivated by Lilah, a human female that works in his theatre. Unfortunately, he can’t indulge in any of his numerous fantasies about her. She is owned by Lord Ashville, a very powerful Aristocrat vampire, and touching another vampire’s bonded human will cause that human immeasurable pain—and the penalty to the offending vampire is death.

Lilah and Javier’s attraction to each other becomes a tangible thing, and Javier commits the ultimate sin when he gives in to his desires and makes love to Lilah. Their connection is deeper and stronger than he imagined. Losing her, living without her is not an option. Javier will fight Lord Ashville for Lilah—to the death.

I loved this story. Any time an author can inject an emotional connection into an erotic scene, I’m hooked—I’m a body, heart and soul kinda gal. Covet had an interesting plot that moved the story forward while carrying the erotic elements.

Short stories aren’t usually my first choice for reading because there’s just not enough word count to build out the necessary elements for a good book. Covet mostly did. The story opened with Javier’s captivation with Lilah fully in place. So, other than his description of Lilah being beautiful, I had no real substance to ground his obsession with Lilah in.

Lilah became a more dimensional character once we learn of her protecting another human from a vampire in the club. Her concern for Javier after they’ve been together also shows her caring nature and personality.

My other problem was with Javier himself. He knew being with Lilah would cause her horrible pain, but he made sure he was a considerate lover by making Lilah orgasm. The reader knew Lilah wasn’t in pain, but Javier didn’t. So that made me think his character was a little insensitive in that he assumed he could pleasure her while she was in pain—which would mean Lilah was a masochist and we as the reader had none of that information.

Admittedly, I’m thinking pretty deep into the story and character development, but that’s what readers do. Especially when it’s an author we love and expect nothing but great novels from.

Did either of my issues detract from the story? A little, but not really in the grand scheme of things. I will absolutely read next novel in Ms. Heaton’s Erotic Vampire Theatre series. You should too!

In this world of vampires, there are also bonded humans who are 'owned' by individual vampires and therefore off limits to any other vampires though they can be loaned out to serve on occasion. The back drop for the story is a London theater that is owned by a four-some of vampires made up of two aristocratic vamp brothers and two elite vampires. The theater acts are designed to interest vampires so they are much darker and sensual than anything a human theater would offer. Each owner has their areas of responsibility. Javier's responsibility includes overseeing the human workers about the place. One worker has had his eye for the last two years, but she is forbidden fruit because she is owned by another vampire.

Lilah was forced into her bond and by all rights hates the vampire world, what goes on at the theater and most of all she hates the vampire who took her out of her old life. The one exception is the vampire who is in charge of her work crew. She has been attracted to Javier for two years.

A circumstance at the theater brings them both together and they allow themselves to enjoy the moment. The stolen moment will have wide repercussions because Lilah's master will sense that another vampire has touched her and that will bring punishment down on Javier and on her. But after two years of pining, they throw caution to the wind and go for it.

I found this introductory story to a new series incredibly hot. The plot kept my interest wondering how Javier and Lilah would get around the issue of the vampire law regarding bonded humans, but the big scenes were really about those two letting go the restraints in one passionate encounter after another.
It was a novella so there wasn't much time to delve too deeply into character development, but it wasn't lacking either which was good.

On a side note, I must say that I get the fascination with one of the vampire theater owners, Snow, that I've been reading so much about. I look forward to his story in the series, but I think the other theater vamps will provide good hero material too.

This would appeal to those who enjoy steamy vampire stories.(less)

Lilah was made a slave by him against her will and she loathes him. But, to upset him, would be detrimental to the theater. Javier along with his good friend Callum and two other more powerful vampires own and run Vampirerotique – a place for the elite and aristocrat vampires to come watch erotic performances. Lilah was sent to the theater by Lord Ashville to work. Javier has been gone the past month at his sister’s wedding celebrations. Somewhat obsessed with her, on his return he is very eager to see her and make sure all is well with her.

When he learns Lilah stepped in on behalf of another woman and hit the lead actor in the nose, he is impressed and knows there is no way he can keep his hands off her since he has been gone for weeks. Regardless that there will be a death sentence on his head, he knows he must seduce her this night. Little does he know, Lilah is hoping for the same thing.

Tori recommend this erotic paranormal romance novella for March, and I’m always on the lookout for good erotic books. I really enjoyed this one for several reasons. First of all, I really felt a connection and chemistry between Javier and Lilah. From page one, there is this strong intensity that never lets up. Because there is the rule that they aren’t allowed to touch each other, their sexual tension is about ready to burst after lusting after each other for two years.

When they finally come together (and Lilah doesn’t experience intense pain – something that is explained later in the book) the erotic scenes are done really well. What I liked is that Javier is a pretty dirty fella – but there comes a time when Lilah starts the dirty talk in bed that actually pushes Javier out of his comfortable zone. Lilah is definitely not a shy heroine, and I really liked the sexual side of her.

The vampires in this world are dark. They are ranked by class – with the aristocrats (those with only purebloods) leading the pack, followed by the elites (those with a small amount of human blood) and then the commoners. On stage at Vampirerotique, the vampire actors perform very erotic acts, bringing in humans to create a bloodlust frenzy at the end. It is Callum’s job (owner and friend of Javier) to bring in these humans. Lilah makes the observation that no matter your rank, by the end of the show, aristocrats and commoners are all salivating with blood lust. Although Javier has redeeming qualities, this behavior on stage is just part of vampire life and is not apologized for. It gave the world a darker, violent edge that I liked. (It also carries over to book two.)

The reason for Lilah not having intense pain worked out okay for me, although I did expect a little more hesitation from Javier before he puts his hands all over her. I liked how it works out though at the end.

For an erotic novella, this one worked quite well for me.

While there are some supporting characters who briefly make an appearance, this story revolves around the main characters of Javier and Lilah, but like any good paranormal romance, there's also a villain who tries to break the happy couple apart. With a unique plot and some of the most erotic scenes I've read (and I've read my fair share of them!), Covet is not for the shy but definitely for the smut lover. The cover is most definitely hot and I was drawn to this read from the start. The world building takes up very little space and is well intertwined with the story with a promising plot. By giving this a 3* I feel like I am being a bit generous - it probably deserves 2.5*, but ... half* bonus for vampires! :)

Summary:

Javier is one of 4 owners of an erotic/vampire theatre. I was completely in love with Ms. Heaton’s writing style and ability to bring me into the scenes. Every emotion that Javier & Lilah felt, I felt and was able to connect that much more to them & the story. Her vivid imagery of the world, settings & characters brought the book to life and made it burn. The character development was superb and left me wanting to know much more about the secondary characters introduced – SNOW!!!! This was a quick read. I was drawn to Javier. He was intriguing & charismatic & also loyal for a vampire. ;) Head of the Theatre Vampirerotique.
