The story of the night Aiden was born has never been told, until now. Fleeing the Hunters, Kevan and Shannon O'Reilly find their way to Spruce Knoll Colorado, assuming they'll be safe in America. Their unborn son is special, even for a druid, or a channeler as the American's like to call their kind. But why the Hunters, people who are sworn to keep their kind safe, are ...more

I came across the Channeler’s Series through Christine Fonseca’s blog and it immediately caught my attention. So when I saw that the Prequel to the series was available for free on Smashwords, I downloaded it.

The first thing that caught my attention was the name “Born of Fire” and it made me curious. The amazing book cover managed to only increase my interest in the series. I mean – look at it – isn’t it gorgeous? By the time I was done reading the summary of the book and little bit about the se

I've wanted to tell the story of what happened to Aiden's parents, and why, for a long time now. Finally, I get to in this novella.

This book is a short story split into two halves. The first half tells the story of Shannon and Kevan, a pair of warrior druids from Ireland. Shannon is heavily pregnant, and Kevan is worried that someone wants to harm the baby, as there is a prophecy surrounding him. Shannon and Kevan pack their car and try to leave before they are found, but are chased and run off the road, and then killed, as Shannon is givi

This was a fun, action-packed look into Aiden's birth and a dream sequence from his teens years. There were a couple editing oopsies but nothing that stopped the story. I would love to give less stars for being so short. I wanted more. I love Aiden in Heather McCorkle's Channeler series. As I say all this I realize that his life might not be easy to write about as his home-life isn't much of one. Dreaming might be better than the reality in his case. I think this should be added to the larger ...more

This story certainly had me interested from page one and I liked the idea of warrior druids as I had not read a book about them before. Although only a novella, it was enough of an introduction for me to know that I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out what happens to Aiden who even at birth had the gift of healing. How tragic to lose his parents as he was just coming into the world. Who were the couple who killed his parents and stole him away and for what purpose? Why are ...more

While reading TSSK, I always wondered about what happened to Aiden's family. There was so much anger, distrust, mystery at the family who took care of him after his family's death that it made me wonder. Born of Fire explains so much. It also gave me a better understanding of Aiden and his unique ability. It is almost felt like right from birth, Aiden knew what his destiny was and was ready to fulfill it even while he was still in his mother's womb. Thank you Heather McCorkle for writing more on ...more

I won this as part of the goodreads giveaways. There is only one problem I could find with this book: it wasn't long enough. I am dying to find out what happens next. Though short, it was beautifully written with a great storyline. A bit unbelievable, but isn't that the fun part? If there is more books like this you can bet that I will read them.

I really loved this story and was unable to put it down, even spending my entire shower afterwards thinking on it. This is exactly why I love looking through Kindle's free section. It introduces you to sagas, series, and authors you may have otherwise never come across. I've since bought the other two novels in the series and can't wait to get into them!!!

The book cover is beautiful! my favorite colors!
Aiden was born with unique powers and his parents went to great lengths to save him from any harm but what happend to them was horrible.
I was shocked to read about Aidens horrific upbringing after his parents died.
Outstanding book overall!

I was exposed to Heather's writing with her short Story in Winter Wonders Anthology, so I went looking for her other books, and lo and behold, Born Of Fire which is the prequel to her Channeler series was free on Amazon! I snatched it up and read it in one sitting.

Short and incredibly wonderful.
Just took speechless.
I loved it!

Okay, at first I was afraid to read it, because... Well, the book looks so beautiful and beautiful things inside may be ugly, but I was wrong. I fell in love. I fell in love with the author of this. Her writing style and all the other things that I've probably already forgetten, but this whole story drew me in and I can't wait to get the first book to read.

Also, I believe that I think about it, like forever now, especiall

This is a short novella that is a prequel to The Secret of Spruce Knoll: A Channeler Novel. I have the novel but have yet to read it, figuring that one should probably start at the beginning when possible. Although doing it this way I don't know who the characters are yet, I do know that I already care about the character now and want to read the novel to find out what happens to him next!

This novella is very well written. It did a great job of showcasing the authors writing style and gave the r

This is the prequel to the Channeler series. It is the story of the events surrounding Aiden's birth. Born of Fire is very short and is intended only as an introduction into the series, not as a stand-alone novella at all.

It is just long enough to pique a reader's interest and leaves you hanging at the end, wondering what the hell happens next?

For readers looking for a stand-alone story, move on because this will only piss you off.

For readers looking to discover a new series, this is

This is a very short introduction to the Channeler series, but it packs a lot of action and necessary scenes to make the reader understand where the Channeler's main character Aiden is coming from. Aiden's parents Kevan and Shannon thought they were safe in Colorado from the Hunters that are after them. But it's not that easy to keep away from forces that are hungry for power- especially for a rare power that their yet unborn son Aiden has. A prophecy of doom marks Aiden as a key to salvation, ...more

So back to 'Born of Fire'. I re-read it because I love it that much. I'm not really into fantasy much, but I'm also a dreamer. I love color vibe thing going on. And in a small amount of time there was so much suspense. Having a baby and being in a car chase. That's all I'm saying, you should read it.

Exciting from the first paragraph. Special auras and Irish lore with real human concerns and emotions that tug at your center - especially if you are a mother or father. Can't wait to start more in the series.

Good book especially in the beginning. I did start to lose interest once Aiden was older and he was in his dream. I'm hoping the next book will hold my attention more. Good effort, but just missing a little something that I just CAN'T put my finger on.
