I've read a lot of baseball books and at this point picking new ones is mostly about finding a new angle towards the game. Since this book sells itself primarily as just that, it was an easy pickup. The first chapter was remarkably academic - I never took sociology at college, but I'd bet that this would have qualified as an easy but legitimate reading in a freshman course covering the idea of "subculture".
