Such a lovely book written about Kara's grandparents showing how their love grew through the letters written to each other while he was at war. I highly recommend this book.

Sorry to say, but this book was painfully bad. I finished it only because I wanted to give it a chance for redemption as I received a free copy through Goodreads giveaways, but I did some strong skimming after the first third of the book. The letters are uninteresting, repetitive, and I found the grandfather to be not particularly likable. I'm sure Ms. Martinelli's family appreciates this book, but I sure didn't.

Yikes.

Book idea is a nice gesture and probably very meaningful to the family...but as an outsider I had no appreciation for the work.
Kim
It was ok, but very slow read.
Katie
This was so sweet to read. it warmed my cold heart to read these letters.

“Darling it may be a long time before we see one another again. But I want you to know. Every time I’ve said I love you- I meant it. There’s no two ways about it. The crew was talking about what’s ahead of us, but we all agreed on one thing. We’re coming back.” 3 people liked it
“When I opened the box, I had to remove myself from whose handwriting it was that I was reading and whose story I was hearing. I had to, or I never would have made it past the first letter. If I stopped to think about my Grandpa writing to my Grandma, knowing how much he loved her and how many years he spent without her after her death, I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it through just one letter without an onslaught of tears. And it was Grandpa, a voice I knew so well. One that I miss terribly.” 2 people liked it
