Pretty uneven approach, mostly talking about him and the very different upbringing he had. This skips over the equally important (though less interesting to kids) parts regarding politics, making it a little useless as a biography of a politician.

This is a bare bones biography for young readers. It gives no sources, but takes several incidents pretty directly rom Dreams From My Father. It covers all the bases, but was publsihed before the election. It is illustrated with both photos and watercolors.

My daughter saw this book in the store and wanted to buy it. I liked that it was a simple overview of his life and something that I could share with my nearly 6 year old. A good peak into this intriguing man's life.

This book includes maps, photos, and illustrations.

Activity: Good book to use to introduce students to presidential duties for a classroom presidential campaign.
Ayana Mishelle
This book talks about President Obama being of mixed culture. A great book for diversity and to teach students some history about our current president
