The sexy cover and the intriguing blurb are what captured my attention, but once I started to read, great writing style, intriguing concept, but sadly, lacking characters.

I was expecting better character development. Robin was too whiny, an attribute that really grates me in female protagonists. For the age that the characters were suppose to be, they seemed too immature. I was left feeling like the surface was scratched, never being led deeper. For me, the proper emotions were missing or in th
If I Can’t Have You by Lauren Hammond was such an addicting read from the very start. I must say that the cover drew me to the book originally, but when I read the blurb I was completely hooked. I can never resist two brothers fighting over a girl. There is just something about it that is so forbidden and wrong and just exciting.

In If I Can’t Have You, fifteen year old Robin nearly drowns during her summer vacation in Paradise. Just when she thinks she’s about to die, a handsome lifeguard, Drake

Sexy, Sweet and Irresistible - Fun YA Romance

I bought this book not expecting to love it as much as I did. It was a very hot read for a YA and I was completely enthralled by the story.

Robin has wanted Drake for years after he rescued her from drowning in the ocean on her family vacation when she was a young teen. Drake, a sexy local lifeguard, never showed much interest other than friendship. Robin comes back to Paradise a curvy beautiful 18-year old woman and catches not only Drake's attention,

The blurb had me all excited, I love a good love triangle. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would.
There is so much unnecessary drama in this I can't even begin to explain.

Robin is a real drama queen. Her lack of self confidence was annoying as hell. She constantly puts herself down how she's just plain and average but for some reason two guys are fighting over her and it baffles her. There is no real development to her character. The way she goes on and on how Drake hurt her
Oh my God. I so didn't want this book to end. I kept squealing like a little girl even when i was finished with the book. I still am. i couldn't agree more with the choice she made, actually she didn't really have a choice because you can't tell your heart who to love, but still, i would have done the same. Every time i think about their relationship i get overwhelmed with happiness and excitement. And the ending. Oh the ending was-for lack of a better word-HOT. I will never look at a library th ...more

This book was a breath of fresh air. I absolutely loved Robin's best friend, Whitney. Whitney was so genuinely sweet and concerned about Robin and I think that's rare in a friendship. This book ended exactly the way I wanted it to I just wish it had been longer or we would have had a glimpse into the future. There wasn't as much character development as I would have liked to have seen but the story was so good that it wasn't that big of a deal. I would definitely read this again and recommend it ...more
It was sweet and funny. Loved it. It was something fresh compared to my usual paranormal activity. I might have to check out the authors other works. I loved how she had Robin express her feelings, I found myself laughing out loud at some of her descriptions. Great read!!
I just want to thank Lauren for her books:)i loved "If i can't have you",i have to say that at first i hoped that the book will have another end,but then everything changed...Their love for each other is beautiful and one of a kind! And the ending made me cry, tears of happiness:)

This is one hot romance novel! The characters are so realistic and the emotions are intense. Plus, you have two totally hot guys. What's not to love? You'll be right there with Robin as her obsession and her new love interest collide with a bang!

This was an okay read. Not awful but not spectacular. It was a fast pace read & it had a decent story idea but in the end it just fell a little too flat. I think my biggest hang up was that I never really felt invested in the characters or the story. I felt like there was just too much glossing over the details. One minute we were in love with one boy without much reasoning behind that love & then suddenly we were in love with a different brother with even less explanation. Also there wa ...more
This book had a promising start, but I felt that towards the end it didn’t have anything that set it apart. There wasn’t really any character development, and I found it kind of jumped around too much. It was still an entertaining read, it just wasn’t a book I would necessarily recommend because it didn’t really leave me wanting more or completely satisfied (which is a strange dichotomy I know). I think this was due to the fact that I didn’t really understand how Robin & Elliot actually got ...more

You cant argue with that cover. And that blurb just demands that you read this book. Who am I to say no? :)

It was hot. Brilliantly written, I loved how everything was described and how things are compared which I found so fun and imagitive and certainly different and it was so easy to follow and to imagine and the love triangle was certainly fun to read. There were a few really noticable spelling mistakes or wrong words used which would pull me out of my reading as I'd be reading the

Ok, I was pleasantly surprised by this book :) Sure, it was full of cliches about how the young girl falls for the older guy, and after she turns into a gorgeous creature he realizes he likes her too etc etc etc BUT life would be one boring & never ending disaster without these cliches!! :) I am a sucker for romance, happy endings and a beautiful under-dog named Elliot who had my vote the moment he hit Robin on the head with a door handle :) This book had me swooning in all the right places, ...more
I really liked this book. Unlike other stories I could relate to Robin and Whit, having strict parents myself (totally sucks sometimes!)and an 'attention whore' friend.
Whit kept Robin from falling apart (thankfully), over dramatic characters who do nothing but whine and pity themselves frustrate me.
Well done Lauren, look forward to reading another of your books :)

Short and sweet story. Kind of fast paced compared to what I'm used to... but maybe that's 'cause it was a page turner? Pretty cliche and predictable, but cute and enjoyable nonetheless.

I really appreciated Whitney as a best friend--it's so easy for YA novels to write about a mediocre heroine who is always annoyingly out shined by the gorgeous best friend, but Whitney definitely genuinely cared for Robin.

No spoilers about which brother Robin ends up with, but.... my huge problem with th
Cute read i enjoyed it. I liked reading about summer romance. Robin is a character i can relate to cause my parents were strict but im happy with the end result. good book
Uggghhhh.....another story wherein a virgin college girl acts like a slut. Robin, robin, robin you annoy me to death! Make up your mind girl! I mean brothers? Come on!
i read this in 1 sitting, without a bathroom break, lol.
Nice,sweet,hot story.
A bit of spelling errors, but it didn't bother a lot, while the story was good.
Adorable, quick, mature adult read. I shouldn't say adorable.... what's the right word??? Scorching? Yes, let's go with that!! Review to come.

Elliot you are my man! (I need a clone of you). Drake really pissed me off, but he only has himself to blame. Another great read by Lauren.

Oh my goodness. First the cover is so hot, then I read the description. This is so up my alley!!!! Fun!
That one star is for me. For being able to finish this so called book even if I really really hated it. The characters has no personalities especially Drake! What's wrong with him? He's like bi polar or something and why the heck is he always glaring? I also can't understand his relationship with Elliot. If they are not close siblings then why the hell did Ellioy chose to spend his summer with him?

Seriously the author seems like she just write randomly whatever situation pops out of her head. S

This novel is a one-shot I bought in kindle version. I was curious because the premise sounds good but somehow I'm not really convinced now that I read it.

Overall, the idea is quite classic, which is expected in this kind of contemporary romance but I think it's too flat. Maybe it's harsh but I never bought this supposedly love triangle. I quickly knew what would happen and how - which is also kind of weird when you're reading - and I was never surprised.

If I Can't Have You was a cute, light read with sweet characters and an enjoyable storyline. At times, the story was a little predictable to me, but it wasn't so much that it made me wish I wasn't reading the book. For instance, I had a feeling almost immediately that Drake wasn't going to be "the one" for Robin. He was just built up a little bit too much in Robin's mind as being the perfect guy. I knew something just wasn't going to go right there. There were times that I wished Robin had been ...more

Honestly, don't waste your time with this book. I was so excited going into it. The storyline is interesting and though it starts off great slowly it unwinds until I wanted my .99 cents back or to reach inside my kindle and strangle these characters.

Everything seemed to annoy me with this book. Robin has developed an insane hero-worship crush on Drake who rescued her from drowning when she was a young teen. Now its years later and she's 18 getting ready for college and hoping Drake will finally

“Sometimes love can happen in the blink of an eye. So fast that you barely notice it at first. It flickers like a tiny spark before roaring into a raging bonfire. And then it finally reaches that point you’re covered in flames. I’ve been that way for a while. I feel like I’ve been burning forever.” 20 likes
“Love is a lot like humanity, neither one is perfect. I’d spent years obsessing over perfection. I’d spent years living inside a bubble thinking that perfection equals love, but it doesn’t. It’s not love unless it’s messy and wild and flawed because nothing real is perfect.” 9 likes
