Absolutely loved this book! Couldn't put it down once I started reading it! Lily is an everyday girl until two days after her eighteenth birthday her life changes! The brother she loved her whole life went missing four years ago only to attack her at an attempt to take her life! It is the Prince Tharin steps in and rescues her, forever changing the course of her life! She finds out that Tharin is her betrothed, the son of one of many elf clans. I love Fairy books and this one delivered 100%!

I loved the binding. It was a rich story filled with many people that you grow to love and cheer for. I can't wait for the next book. Lily and Julie are strong females trying to keep up with all the new information and situations being thrown at them a mile a minute. I want more and an anxious to find out how they are going to deal with situations they are forced to deal with. The depth of the main characters including the cousins continues to be fleshed out so that you feel like you are meeting...more
I love this book! And I especially love the elves. The Binding is an urban fantasy that’s fast paced, full of action and has a great storyline. The author’s debut is a wonderfully written tale of young adult urban fantasy with fast pace actions, adventure and tender moments of first love.
It starts off innocently enough with a run in the park and ends with literally running to the border to stay ahead of danger and staying alive. The book starts off at a fast pace and stays that way until the en...more

"I make another mental note to myself. When Lily is happy, I'm happy. Got it."
I'm so glad I decided to read this. This is exactly the kind of book that I love to read, I got so caught up in the story that I wasn't looking for twist and turns, I was just along for the ride. There was a solid story line, action from the first few pages, strong characters, and a great writing style. Absolutely terrible. The plot needs some series structural work, the story needs to be revised and edited, the pace in the couples' relationship is going WAY too fast... oh boy, the list is endless. I hate how the author puts exclamation marks in practically every other sentance. Exclamation marks should not be used so easily; they should be revered. The characters in the story need a whole lot of development because they're too flimsy to be anything but a crap load of words strung together in a...more

The Binding took me by surprise; in all its formulaic and predictable familiarity, the story held me captive until the very last page. There were a few technical issues: a general lack of editing, and very FAST pacing. However, I was too caught up in the events of the story that I barely noticed.
What I liked:
1. No love triangle.
2. Effective, efficient shifts in DUAL POVs – with distinctive voices for both Tharin and Lily.

I am so excited about this series by Filloon! Her books are a fresh view in fantasy and her world building is unique and fun. The romance brings tension and warm fuzzies as the characters' feelings grow for one another without going too far for young adult readers. I love the creative look at this world of Velesi. There is action, adventure, character growth, plenty of laugh out loud moments, and of course, romance.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I love this book. From the beginning I found myself immersed in the story and couldn't put it down. Character development is very strong and I really enjoyed the book because I like the characters and how they evolve throughout the story. The heroine, Lilly, is humble, caring and although insecure, has an inner strength about her. I love her unassuming ways and the fact that she is true to her heart and is someone with ideals and values. The hero in the story is...more
I give this book 3.5 stars, which, considering the fact that I don't normally enjoy YA novels, is quite generous. It's not that I disliked the book, actually, I did enjoy it to be honest. It reminded me a bit of The Lord of the Rings with all the orcs, elves, trolls and other creatures featured throughout the book. Of course the story itself was completely different and original in and of itself.
What I liked most about this book is how easy it read, not in a lazy way, but more in a fluid way. I...more

I am not one to normally read books about elves or fairies. When I saw The Binding I had to check it out. The author doesn't write about tree dwelling fairies, no, elves are the star of the one. I don't know much about elves except that the keebler ones make some rocking cookies. :) The Binding is the beginning for Lily and Tharin. Lily is part elf and doesn't know it until her fiancé, since birth, saves her life one night. Tharin is none too happy to be saving Lily, but he always keeps his word...more
I discovered this book when I visited the author's Facebook page. The blurb had me immediately clicking on the link to Amazon and buying it - and I wasn't disappointed.
It's a fast-paced, action-packed fantasy ride with likeable heroines and heroes.
I'm not going to give much away about the story and plot line because they're a large part of the charm of this book.

So I started reading this book because of a recommendation my friend here on goodreads gave me and I so happy that I did.

Okay so I would really say 4.5 but alas good reads doesn't give me that option. And you the say why not 5 and to that I say the constant misunderstanding, misdirection, misguided oh he loves someone else and I'll just wait to tell her how I feel was about to drive me insane even as I finished this book at 12:22 am.

First in a new teen fantasy series, The Binding by L. Filloon takes readers from the world of an orphaned American teen to the boundaries of a mystical realm of elves where her destiny waits. The story’s told through the eyes of eighteen-year-old Lily and her Sidthe prince Tharin, with different chapters switching point of view. Both characters suffer the same teen angst, despite their different backgrounds and ages, and no-one’s ever sure what anyone else feels, or willing to state their own po...more
I gotta say I loved this book but I am a bit mad. I thought this book was a singular novel only to find out getting close to the end that it is first in a series. That aside the book was well written and kept me turning pages from the beginning. Lily is strong but lost after losing the only family she knew her brother but while running in the park she sees her brother and he is trying to kill her. A mysterious strangers saves her at the last minute. Tharin is protecting Lily just to marry her I...more
I loved The Binding! Lily is attacked right after her 18th birthday by her brother that has been missing for 4 years. She is saved by an elf prince, Tharin, who claims to be her bethrothed. Lily learns that she is an elf princess and the only way to save her people from civil war is to go through with the wedding. The thing is, it's going to be a tough trip to the elven land, Velesi, because now that word has spread about the princess coming out of hiding everyone is looking for her. Lily tells...more
The Binding is a paranormal story about Vulcans...er um sorry I mean elves. I enjoyed reading about Tharin and Lily. Though we spend half of the book with Tharin in denial about his feelings about Lily, he finally comes to terms with it. Ah what would a story be without some type of inner struggle. I did like that it was not love at first sight, we got to see them develop feelings for each other. It was refreshing to see. I enjoyed the fight scenes and of course the tension between Tolan and Jul...more
I loved this book it's the first in a series about Lily Michaels whose a princess elf and doesn't know it yet. She was raised by her brother Lucas until he disappears on his 18th birthday. They find themselves collecting Lily's friend Julia whose been beaten by her family. They also find evil elves and other beings trying to kill the Prince Tharin...more
Overall Thoughts:
This was the first book that I read about elves, so I didn't really know what to expect, and I'm pleasantly surprised with what I found!
The Binding is about 18 year old Lily Michaels, who is ambushed on her eighteenth birthday by no one other than her own brother who has been missing for the past four years! Then, enters Prince Tharin Lunar! The mysterious stranger interferes and saves her life. Once the two meet, Lily's life is forever changed. Prince Tharin explains to her tha...more

My thoughts
Wasn't expecting much from this book as I bought it for free on Amazon but it was about elves and I'm just loving that genre right about now. Anyways all I can say about this is it was EFFING AWESOME! I grew to love all the characters especially Lily and her best friend Julia. I wasn't too fond of Tharin because he just annoyed me with the way he acted and stuff (don't want to give anything away). This is a definite page turne...more

Book Review – The Binding by L Filloon
This is a reasonable book that I liked. The characters are great and you can identify with the four main characters very well. The plot is interesting, it involves a sidhe prince who has to bring his human/sidhe princess back to his realm and marry her to avert a clan war. Lily has been brought up human and knows nothing of hr inheritance or her hidden gifts. They doo not hit it off very well to start with but the development of their relationship is very we...more

I liked it. I like Tharin and I really like Julia. I am not a big fan of Lily, but I don't hate her either. She is just a little too weepy for me to think of her as this strong woman like the book wants you to think she is. I also liked that the love triangle fell to Tharin and him being in love with someone else. But I have a feeling that Kalis is going to be a lot of fun in the next book. I'm looking forward to her.

If there is one thing I love that doesn’t get much exposure is elves. I absolutely loved elves so when I found out this book was about elves I was super excited!
The plot is really fast-paced and when I started the book I didn’t really enjoy it all that much. However, the more I read the less I could pull myself away from the book and I found myself really liking the book by the end.

L. Filloon, the auther of this book, contacted me via my mailbox on Goodreads giving me a code to purchase "The Binding" for free. That hasn't happened to me before, so needless to say, I was excited, lol. But it also made me really nervous- what if I didn't like it? Then I'd feel guilty, yet still obligated to write a review. And I hate writing negative reviews, which is why I hardly ever do.
Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about! You've read the premise, so I will just say that "The Binding"...more

I am a very romance/fantasy kinda girl and this book was perfect me. It was another one of those i can not put it down. i was like just one more chapter and i'll got to bed...10 chapters and 3 cups of coffee later im still awake. I loved the fact that in the beginning Tharin hated her because of the whole marriage thing but towards the end he finally figured out he loved her. Two days after her birthday Lilly is running in the park (she does this every year for her birthday) but this time she wa...more
99¢ on Amazon Kindle! Amazing deal for a really good book. I usually don't like books about elves, ogres, and other mythical crap. They come off as ridiculous and cheesy to me. However, this book proved to be the exception. The action and adventure came together nicely, not to mention the romance aspect was great. Can't wait for the second book.

L. Filloon was born in Leone, American Samoa. At a young age her family relocated to Hawaii and settled on Oahu. In 1977, her father once again relocated the family, this time to San Diego, eventually making National City, California their home. Although she started writing during her junior high school years, it wasn't until late 2011 that she self-published her first book, The Binding; the first...more

“When I'm not with Kalis the things I missed about her are all physical. I know that now. I miss her smile, her eyes, her hair, her touch. She's tall and lithe and has a body that turns all the men's heads in Velesi. With Lily, even with her small stature, she towers over the rest of us, because of her heart and her love for Lucas and Julia.”
