I love the poky little puppy. It was one of my favorites as a child. It can be interactive with younger students - have them count the puppies along with the book. The poky little puppy also has a little independent streak in him. It is short and won't take too much time to read to the class or would be a great book for beginning readers.

This is one of my son's favorite Little Golden Book stories. He used to laugh every time I read about the puppy feeling "frisky". I think The Poky Little Puppy series is especially appealing to little boys.

The poky little puppy wakes up late as usual with his adventures leading him out
to play in the snow.
Illustrations in this book look like they are from the 1970's even
though the book was copyright in 1982.
This book however, is a must have if you are a fan of the delightful
Poky Little Puppy. Which I am!

There isn't much of a story here. The one puppy who is late doesn't receive consequences for being tardy. If there are no consequences, then he has no reason to modify his behavior. So, it seems like this book (and I think this is part of a series) cherishes laziness.

I'll pass.
