This is book 2 in the Shadow Series. I’m a big fan of just jumping in the middle of the series. I don’t know why–No. Wait. I completely know why. I don’t like having to listen to backstory which is usually IN book 1′s. Yes. I like getting straight the heart of the plot, which is usually found comfortably wrapped in most book 2′s. Look at me being all snobby and stuff.

I’m sure that book 1 of this series is going to be great! The writing in book 2 was really awesome. It’s written in present tense....more

"Shadow Slayer" is Book 2 of Laura A. H. Elliott's Shadow Series and it does not disappoint. We First met Roxie in "Thirteen on Halloween" when she astral-projected to Planet Popular. Now she's a high school freshman just trying to fit in to the new environment of high school.

She still wants to go back to Planet Popular to discover the mystery of the map; but, it seems that all is not right on Planet Earth. Her friends are acting strange and her "perfect ten" boyfriend, Drew, is almost to good t...more

Shadow Slayer is the 2nd book in the series by author Laura A.H. Elliot.

We meet Roxie, a thirteen and a half year old girl who is entering her freshman year at Oakdale High School. Roxie just wants a boring year where she won’t have to worry about life and death, or obsess about peacock’s (popular girls) or popularity. What will await Roxie when she enters into this whole new world?

Soon after entering high school it seems like everyone is turning on Roxie, including her best friend Ally. Why is...more

I had so much fun reading this story. It was like I was starting high school all over again.

This story has action, but has romance all bundle so sweetly.
It would seem that Roxie has it all in the beginning, then it all changes. Her friends aren't what they used to be and things just seem different, but the one semi-constant is....Drew

Roxie is one unique girl, I have to give kudos to her character. I never would have pulled off being a freshman and managed "slayer" too.
She is my favorite by far....more

I received a free copy of this novel for my honest review. Shadow Slayer is book two of the Shadow series. The story opens on Roxie’s first day of High School, reminiscing about Hayden and their last few days before school starts. You can tell by the memory that she’s hoping they will get back to how they were on “Planet Popular”. She loses interest when she meets sixteen year old Drew, “a perfect ten”. Drew then asks her to the homecoming dance and she excitedly accepts. Hayden implies that Dre...more

MINI Review:

This series is such a good, quirky FUN read! I love all the characters and especially

Roxie... She is awesome :) What do you do when you find out your the Shadow Slayer? Well you must see how Roxie handles it ..

Drew... hottie and too good to be true? You will have to read and be the judge of that

There is action and some sweet sweet romance all together... Laura makes her teens "real" with the way they come across the page you will get sucked right into the world she has created for...more

The suspenseful and charming sequel to 13 on Halloween stands on its own too. I adore this series and watching the heroine grow into her own. Elliott's characters feel very real even when thrown into extraordinary circumstances. She does a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of a young teen. With a sort of Harry Potter appeal, I highly recommend this book for pre-teens, teens, and adults alike.

"Shadow Slayer" is a fun fast paced YA novel with tons of action. Laura pens her characters lovable and believable in the second book of the series. You really need to read the first book in the series "13 on Halloween" before this book or you will be a bit lost. Recommended for all YA readers.

This review is based on a complimentary copy which was provided for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel to 13 on Halloween. It was so magical, you know? I would describe it as a modern day Alice in Wonderland meets Sleepy Hollow. That was the kind of feeling it gave me. I felt like I was taking a ride on a magic roundabout as I was reading (I even read it as I walked the dogs!), I was completely hooked. I love books that are a little spooky weird (in a totally awesome way!), if you know what I mean. It was unlike anything I've ever read... which is one of the reaso...more

In the beginning pages of Shadow Slayer Roxie and her best friend are Ally are getting on the bus for their first day of high school. They are both extremely nervous and have no idea what to expect from the place they've dreamed about being in since they were little. While waiting on the bus they meet a new girl named Wanda. At school while Roxie sulks about having no classes with any of her friends Wanda invites her to try out for the school play. At first Roxie doesn't want anything to do wit...more

Shadow Slayer continues Roxanne's adventure with Planet Popular and her teen years. In this book, Roxanne is 14. Forget the peacocks. Forget about popular. Now, it's all about high school and......Drew. Drew is perfect, with his golden eyes, awesome personality, etc. In fact, he's so perfect, he doesn't even seem human. That's right. He's not.

When everyone around Roxanne become shadows, Roxanne learns that she is the only one who can save them. Or else the shadow would take up the world and rul...more

This is book 2 in Laura A.H. Elliott's series of YA novels and it was great! I recorded the audiobooks for both Book 1, "13 on Halloween" and "Shadow Slayer." I know the characters and story intimately and loved recording them. "Shadow Slayer" is a bit darker than the first book and is filled with romance, adventure, and intrigue. I highly recommend both novels and look forward to Laura's next novel.

I love writing about enchanted road trips, shadow worlds, and alien romance while eating lots of popcorn.
