I really am addicted to paranormal romances and so can't miss this one out.
Scent of White Rose..is definitely an interesting read ...it has it's own share of Secrets,Mysteries n Romance.
Christian is a vampire and meets Rose n they start loving each other...All he want is rose to join his clan n spend the eternity with her.

I read this book because of the Author Review on Paranormal Reads, and I must say I was not disappointed. This book had me from the first page.

The dynamic allows room for maddening speculation as to the villain’s identity and role, contemplating whether it be a various range of suspects. While growing to trust the author’s voice, the reader cannot decide which character to trust.

With every simple, amusing, and mysterious chapter title acting as a fantastic harbinger, even minute details contribute to the brilliant little mystery woven perfectly into this love story. Even the main character can surprise you, and brilliantly done at that. When believable ignorance can be a complete mask, the reader is merely left to hypothesize until the piece has been hungrily devoured.

This unique take on vampire lore will stand out amongst other books of its genre. The introduction of new concepts (such as biology, “drifting”, and clan-structure) is both much-needed and worthy of dramatic applause. Paired with a royally “OMG” ending and the exciting promise of a series, the thirst of YA readers called, and Scent of a White Rose answered. Sexy, fast-paced, enthralling, and clever – there is no excuse not to adore this book.

I recommend this for fans of Fate Fixed by Bonnie Erina Wheeler, The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine, The Chicagoland Vampries by Chloe Neill, and The Blood Coven Series by Mari Mancusi.

Highly recommended!

Rose and Christian are madly in love, sounds perfect doesn't it except for the fact that Rose is human and he is a vampire. This book is very different, there is no love triangle, no instant attraction (thank god) as these two have been in love for ages. But Christian isn't the only one with a secret, Rose has a few of her own that will put their love to the ultimate test and forever change their lives.

I was drawn into Rose and Christian's story from the first page. You won't find any sulking or brooding blood drinkers here, instead we are introduced to a new hierarchy of light and dark vampires who live among humans by concealing their identities, while following a code of ethics among them. Rose is a admirable heroine, even for her young years. She's had her share of tragedy and never lets that stop her from trying to live her life to the fullest. Rose is sweet, smart, outspoken and a character you can really identify with, I love her optimism and determination.

Christian, her love interest might look like a bad boy, but he's quite the gentleman and romantic. His love for Rose is pure and will stop at nothing to protect her, what more could you want in a hero? Christian is the perfect leading man, he's sexy, protective and loyal, he'll have you wrapped around his finger in no time with his chivalrous ways! Another character that really made an impression on me was the vampire Terrance. He's mysterious, dark and definitely a tortured hero who has lost his way but still has some good in him, I can't wait to learn more about his character in future books.

In Scent of a White Rose, Tish Thawer crafts a seductive vampire tale with her eloquent writing style and keen sense of romance that simply entrances! The story line of vampire guy falls in love with human girl might sound familiar, but don't let that deter you from getting your hands on this book. The author's take of the vampire myth is fresh, exciting and engaging. Scent of a White Rose has all the essential elements of a paranormal romance: a suspenseful plot that will keep you on edge, solid characters, a beautiful love story and a climactic ending that will leave you begging for more of Rose and Christian! A great beginning to a promising new series by a new and gifted author you won't want to miss.

Scent of a White Rose had an amazing storyline, one thing wrong with YA novels these days I feel is their predictability. I would say about 70% (maybe more) YA novels I read I can always figure out what is going to happen next, I know the authors try hard to make things suspenseful, and a mystery, but in all honesty a lot of them fail at it. This does not mean I don’t enjoy their books, I still do..but when I come across a book that kept me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails over what was going to happen next and left me literally shocked at times, you know it’s a good read.

The characters were all very likeable too, although I must say I wish I could’ve gotten to know some of the ‘not so main’ characters. I am hoping throughout the rest of the series we will learn more about them, as far as the main characters go I really liked them. Rose was a likeable girl, I loved how independent she was, and how she was figuring out things all on her own. Most heroines have help (a lot of help) putting the pieces together, but Rose mostly did it all on her own! It gave me tons of respect towards her as a character. Christian I loved, I thought he was well first off he sounded like he was really sexy, which is always a plus, he was very protective of Rose, and you could really tell he cared for her tremendously. I also liked seeing how much he cared for his ‘family’ (other vampires in the clan), most books focus a lot on the romance aspect of love, it was nice also seeing how much he and his clan cared for eachother, not just how he felt about Rose. I really did love Rose and Christian and a few of the other main charcters, but I think my favorite was Jillian, Roses best friend, and the only reason for her being my favorite is cause I feel I connect with her and out of all the characters she reminded me a lot of myself, which was nice! Overall though Tish has put together an awesome cast!

When it came to the romance I really loved how it was different than most YA books also, the point that Scent of a White Rose starts at, Rose and Christian have already been dating for a while. This was weird to me at first since normally YA novels start out with the girl is alone and then meets some mysterious guy blah blah (you all know how it goes), at first I didn’t like the fact that we didn’t get to really read about the process of Rose and Christian falling in love, but the more I got into the story the more I liked it, it was kind of nice skipping the beginning of their relationship, it was deff a new experience reading it, and yet another way Scent of a White Rose is a fresh new take in the YA world.

Overall, this book was such a great read. If you’re looking for a new paranormal romance read and one that is more on the mature end of YA with awesome characters, then look no further! Scent of a White Rose will have its readers on the edge of their seat, and leave them dying for book two!

The main character, Rose, is a girl next door, with nothing special. I really liked this character because she reminded me when I was fighting with my parents (when I was a teen!) LOL

As soon as I started to read Scent of a White Rose, I realise that the main character (Rose) was living one of the most difficult moment of her life! She had a normal past with her family and now everything was different and it's probably really hard to take. I think when you read about someone who is living a hard time; you get attached to this character. You hope that everything will get better and then we meet the mysterious and handsome Christian. Wow I saw the picture of Christian on the Rose Trilogy blog and I totally agree with the choice of man! Plus he's so concern about Rose! But my fav picture was the one of DAX: OH MY GOD (nothing else to say).

All the sensual scenes were really driving me crazy! They were well written and I totally buy them, when I read them! I wanted to feel Christian hands all over me instead of Rose! I really like the style of this author: the fact that each character have they own paragraph to express they thought, was a great idea! I love to see who is feeling what or which conversation can be taken differently. Every character was great to know about, they were well described and I love to know them past and how they meet each other!

I was pretty interested by the originality of the history (legends and myths) around the vampires in this book. Tish Thawer mix the original vampire tale : with the blood sucking, enthralling people, bite marks but she created a new kind of vampire that still sleep when the sun is up high but developed new abilities and got Sire and Consort.

Surprising ending, all this time, I thought about how it could end and I never see this one (until a few chapters with a lot of in!) coming! I love to be blown away, by the machiavelique mind of the author! Tish Thawer knows how to get the reader to keep reading!

The book cover is amazing! Look at that face, which can resist that! If I was a guy I would fall for this one! Just gorgeous!

The only thing I thought was kind of hard to believe was the fact that they (Rose and Christian) almost never see each other: even in the story, they only get together if Rose goes to the club where Christian is working. I wanted to read more about them together! And BTW I didn't want this book to ending, when I saw 186 pages, I was thinking: Oh Gosh, if I like this book I will read it in a minute! Tish Thawer is definitely an author to keep an eye on! Great debut novel: I'm eager to read the second book!

This has only been my second Vampire series.I thoroughly enjoyed Scent of a White Rose. It was real page turner. Dialog was really good. The plot was truly kept me on the edge , coming back at every opportunity to read as much as I can before my daily duties tore me away. I'm a little surprised how many people have four or five stars for this book. Frankly I found it boring and drawn out. With so many POVs it made each scene seem longer than necesary. Thawer's writing keeps a steady pace that I personally enjoyed, and her characters have you relating to them as if they were your friends. She gave me background and got me involved but didn't let that slow down her plot in my opinion.

While Rose became a character I was rooting for, I'll admit to liking Christian and his "family" much more. Their stories and history were exciting and touching all at the same time. I would have liked more details into each of his "family" members but I'm optimistic that with this being the first book, the later installments will provide the information I'm looking for. And in the meantime I've found myself invested in their futures, so to speak. Thawer managed what I thought was an impossible feat. She was able to put yet another new spin on the age old vampire tale. With so many different vampire young adult books on the shelves these days I'm not sure where the creativity stems from, but her world was definitely not one I'd call a carbon copy of the others I've read and become familiar with. She made it her own and in turn made me an instant fan.

Rose and Christian and all their friends and family are faced with a unique situation that had me tense, anxious, and gripping my seat until the very last page. I'll admit that while the ending wasn't entirely predictable, I was hoping for one that was slightly different. She left her readers with a cliffhanger of course, what else would she do with two more books in the trilogy scheduled to come out, but my nerves and the romantic side of me was still crossing my fingers that a few of the loose ends would have been tied up. Oh well, I'm the reader, not the author so I'll just have to wait until the second installment, Blood of a Red Rose comes out in May 2012. That makes for a long countdown but I'm hoping a few teasers might come out in the meantime to keep my nerves in check.(less)

Bold move number two: Using multiple first person narratives.

At first I thought it was just going to be first person - Rose, but then we switched to Christian, then someone else and someone else... By the end there were maybe 5 or 6 characters getting a turn. This is definitely unusual for the genre and not something I have experienced before. For me, it made things a little disjointed and stopped me from getting attached to any one "voice" as it was constantly changing. But it did serve to give you a wider view of events than the limiting single voice would have.

And finally, bold move number three: To have the hero and heroine of the piece already in a relationship prior to us joining the story.

As you'll see from the blurb we are following Rose and Christian, who, at the time of the start of this story, have already been together for around 9 months. I'm not 100% sure how I felt about this aspect. I kind of like seeing the love interests meet for the first time. We got a relaying of events so I do know how they met, but I would have liked to have seen it in real time. I think this would have helped me form a stronger connection to the pair.

Overall, I found this an interesting start to the trilogy and a quick and easy read. The second book, Blood of a Red Rose is due for release on May 8th 2012, and the final instalment, Death of a Black Rose, on September 18th 2012.

When I learned that Tish Thawer’s novel, Scent of a White Rose, was being released, I wanted to do more than just invite her to make my blog a stop on her tour – I desired the pleasure of being able to drift away into her unique paranormal world with an ARC copy of my own to escape into! So, with my boys at school and hubby at work, (my afternoon free from distraction), I pulled out my new fleece blanket, favorite fuzzy socks, and a cup of gingerbread coffee and curled up by the fire with my Kindle Fire. Within moments of the very first chapter, I was swept into Thawer’s paranormal romance that was filled with suspense and bits of mystery, creepy antagonists and sexy vampires – all much to my liking!

This book had all of the elements I enjoy in a young adult paranormal romance.

1) The characters are multidimensional and interesting. Although there were times I wanted to chastise Rose for having the language of a truck driver or smack her Dad for being blind and controlling – the flaws Thawer crafted in her characters make them realistic and believable. She didn’t take a cookie cutter approach which was refreshing. For example – there were times I thought Rose was too immature for 20, but then, taking into consideration how much she and her father had been through – it made sense.

2) Excellent Pacing. This author has mastered her narrative drive which I personally appreciate. Her writing is crisp and to the point – there are no pages of nonstop scenery slowing down the action!

3) Steamy Romance. I loved the relationship between these two lovers. It wasn’t co-dependent and creepy, but they really had deep emotions for each other. How that will be resolved in the future books shall be interesting. (If Rose can’t be Christian’s consort – every available female reader will want the job!)

4) Multiple Points of View. Maybe I’m biased because that is a writing technique that I employ myself, but I find it refreshing to not just be in one person’s head. Of course, it will depend on the novel but I think the author gave us just enough insight into each of the main characters to provide an appropriate amount of structure and to further the plot.

5) Just the right length. We’ve all read books that have either ended too abruptly or went on and on long after the plot was dead. Not the case for Scent of a White Rose. It was a pleasurable quick read that left enough intrigue and care for the characters that I will want to read the others in the series without being overdone.

Overall – excellent book and I recommend it if you are a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, The Blood Coven Vampire series by Mari Mancusi, Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampire’s Series, and of course, my first novel, Fate Fixed – I highly recommend the read.

The storyline : EPIC !! I gave myself two days to get my thoughts straight and write up this review but i'm still short of words . Lets start with what this story is all about . Scent of a white rose is the story of Rose Reynolds who lost her mom in a ' freak accident ' which has left Rose and her dad kind of devastated , but rose is'nt what she seems to be , she has secrets . Secrets that could probably change one's view about her . Scent of a white rose is also the story of Christian , Rose vampire boyfriend . He has his secrets too , secrets that can change his relationship with Rose , will it ??
Scent of a white rose according to me was a very fast and compelling read .. Such a page turner , i couldnt stop myself from reading it in a day . Every chapter left me with my jaws dropped . I was like . ' Oh my god , no this cant be happening ! ' or ' Whaaaat , no waay !! ' . I was on the edge of my seat all the time .
What i really loved about this book was its story telling technique . Being the leading lady , it was good to see that the whole story was not told from Rose's point of view . The POV's would shift from Rose to Christian , then to Christian's sire Evangeline and more . It was refreshing to see the story from different perspective's . It provided a lot of depth to the story as it was good to feel and hear wht other characters felt or heard . The book was filled with so many surprises . I loved each and every one of it .
All the characters in this story were admirable even if some were potrayed in a negative shade , they still manage to keep you hooked to the story .
The ending was absolutely brilliant . I wanted to go on reading * sighs * . The wait for the second book seems too long .

Thoughts from the book : I felt Scent of the white rose had a theme or a message , and that message for me was that every human being has a good side and a bad side . Its upto us to see which side do we favour the most . There's goodness in everyone , but if you let darkness make your choices then you will drift far away from light . It is not that you cant return but as they say once consumed by darkness its very difficult to see the light but its not imposible .

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who enjoys tales of the vampire's and demons . This one's a must read ! With the twists and turns its bound to keep you glued till you reach the last page !(less)

This is the first book in a brand new series and I couldn’t put it down. The author Tish Thawer weaves an amazing tale of vampires, love, lost, and secrets.

This is a novel that is extremely well written and very entertaining.
Rose is a college student, who has suffered terribly from the devastating death of her mother. Rose's father wants to keep her safe by keeping her under lock and key. Rose met Christian, the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with before her mother's death. However, Christian is a vampire. But, Rose knows his secret, and she wants to become a vampire too in order to be with him for eternity.

Anyone who knows me knows that paranormal romance is a genre I rarely touch. So I didn't know what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I found the characters to be well developed. I enjoyed the way the story is told from several vantage points, keeping it fresh. And it definitely kept my attention, keeping me on my toes on what will happen next. I truly enjoyed reading this book and it lived up to all the great reviews I'd read on Facebook. I thought Tish did a great job explaining the nature of drifting and how the vampire covens worked in Scent of a White Rose. I'm looking forward to the other books in the series. For this being her first publishing I'm completely impressed. The cover art is stunning. That alone makes you want to read the book!
