Until Next Time focuses on the theme of angels, but it is unlike any other angel book. Amy Lignor puts her own unique spin on a genre that has been visited countless times and she manages to successfully craft a story that stands out from the rest. Sadly this wasn't for me. First, I didn't expect it to be set in the 1800s: Me and historicals rarely get along. But mostly I was simply bored, even confused for the most part; going back and forth to the angel realm, her strange dreams, and the actual plot wasn't very clear. I did really like the characters though but that alone was not enough to get me to connect with the story. I still wasn't feeling it at all by 60%, so I figured it was time to put the book down.

The first thing that struck me about this book upon completion of it is that the prologue and the epilogue are separate from the story itself. For one, they’re narrated in the first person by Emily herself at some unknown time in her life and they’re in the present tense. Well, most of the prologue is anyway. Part way through it slips into the past tense for a while for no discernible reason before going back to the present tense. They also don’t really make sense w...more

The Gothic glamtastic cover sold me. The text...that pose, the cracking crusted heart....YES, yes and yes! The model sort of reminds me of Jessica Alba. (I'm just saying! *smiles*) And then it's an angel paranormal novel. It's always interesting to read a story with angels who have issues of the human variety.

I finished reading Until Next Time earlier this evening and am honestly having a difficult time writing this review. Each time I sit down to write out my thoughts I get all teary eyed again and have to shut everything down and go distract myself for a bit with something around the house. This wasn't a lighthearted easy read but rather a wonderfully bittersweet story that by the end left me reeling emotionally with tears streaming down my face. This book is really to me is 2 stories in one. You have the Angel and Warrior Emily and Matt. The other side of the story is Liz and Daniel humans on earth.
I personally loved the story of Liz and Daniel more than Emily and Matt.
When the story takes place as Emily and Matt it has a religious feel to it. The Saints guide Emily and Matt into their jobs on earth.
For a person that is not religious sometimes the Emily/Matt parts were hard to get through. It was not over powering religious though.

Until Next Time breathes new life into the sometimes over-done Angels theme, with its refreshing and bold concept. Amy Lignor cleverly weaves a spellbinding tale around old beliefs, bringing about new ideas and questions on the ‘other side.’ This is no beach read as the book demands your attention from the offset, with it level of detail requiring thought and concentration, and it is definitely on the older end of the Young Adult scale.

Has anybody else noticed I seem to have a special spot in my heart for supernatural like books? Because I do and I'm OK with that. I will tell you right off the bat I liked this book not because it's tremendously well written or because the story is that dynamic, but because it's like two stories in one.

When I was first approached about joining this tour, I looked at the cover first and was immediately drawn to the darkness of it. The lady on the front could be a stone angel that graces cemeteries, except for her human face and hair.
The title intrigued me ... Until Next Time ... Did that mean until the next life? Next relationship? Next situation? With a title so open to interpretation, I eagerly read the book summary and decided to give it a shot.

This is definitely an interesting story. I was intrigued from the first time I saw the cover, and then once I started reading I was absolutely hooked. I’ve read a few different angel stories lately, and they were all vastly different. I think that is what is so great about these types of stories, there are so many paths you can take.

When I first started this book, I didn't think that I was going to like it. It starts with Emily and Matt in the author's view of Heaven engaging in a battle that was meant as both punishment and training. The whole Heaven scenario in the beginning just felt contrived and unrealistic.

I want to start off by saying that I'm not the biggest fan of stories involving angels, but this book was a great refreshing take on the topic. Right off the bat we're thrown into an action scene that makes you want to know more about the characters because you automatically feel for them.

This series starts out with Emily and Matt getting ready to go down to Earth another time. Emily is an angel and Matt is a warrior. As a reader who is not generally a fan of angel based books, I was a bit wary going in to Until Next Time. They have a tendency to be a little heavy handed in the religion department most times. I'm happy to say that Amy Lignor's book was an exception to that rule. Although Matt and Emily's story is of course religiously based, it doesn't overshadow their own intriguing plot line. Totally captivating, a powerful and entertaining read that will make your heart pound. Amy Lignor's writing style is engaging and full of charm, making it easy to loose yourself in the magical world she created, and connect with all the fabulous characters. When I was first offered the chance to be part of the blog tour for Until Next Time by Amy Lignor, I jumped at the chance since not only did it look like a fabulous book but also I'm always up for giving an indie press a try. When I first saw the summary of Until Next Time by Amy Lignor, I was very intrigued. It seemed that the author had taken a different and somewhat unique take on angels. Until Next Time doesn't deal with angels on earth, but rather is about the souls of angels using human shells to learn more about the human race and emotions.
