What we have here??

Oh yes, the cover!! So pretty, the red dress, so lush and sensual. Then the cage, the man trapped inside, the creepy area. Purrfect! And I think, this is the best cover of Gena's book so far! :D
Last Kiss Goodnight is another spin off from my author goddess, Gena, and seems like the Alien Huntress that got the spin-off.
I wonder when she will continue her main series (LOTU and Alien Huntress), but this cover is definetely keeper! I will read anything this woman write! (except he More...

This is hard to rate, but I think 3 stars, because it was somewhat enjoyable, and had some yummy scenes. LKG is the first of a new series by Gena Showalter. In the preface, she writes that God helped her through a dark time, and based on this plot, it was a VERY dark time indeed. (My sympathies for her painful illness.)
Contrary to some reviews, the Bible verse at the beginning of each chapter didn't bother me. It seemed fitting for such a dark plot, actually. Verses were also scattered within t More...

I am somewhat torn as to how to rate this book. There were things I really liked, things I found lacking, and things I seriously had a problem with. In all honesty, Last Kiss Goodnight is my least favorite of Gena Showalter's books and the fact that I've come across a book of hers that I didn't particularly like makes me feel a little sick to my stomach.
I have worshiped at the Showalter alter for years and have become intensely engrossed in all of the worlds she has created. There were things I More...

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
I adore Gena Showalter's books. I'm obsessed with LOTU, devour the Alien Huntress books, and am smitten with her new YA. So, when I heard that Gena was writing an Alien Huntress spin-off I was beyond excited.
First off, as always and expected from Gena, Last Kiss Goodnight gives us a fascinating world, lovable characters, & a unique story.

What it's about: Gena Showalter wrote a fantastic series, the Alien Huntress books, that have two of my favorite books in it: Awaken Me Darkly and Savor Me Slowly. This series opened readers' eyes to Aliens, Otherworlders and the organizations that control them all. Last Kiss Goodnight is a part of a new series, called Otherworld Assassin, and overlaps with the Alien Huntress world. Solo is a brute: He's an alien who is Black Ops, and he was captured and imprisoned in a zoo featuring Ot More...

AMAZING!!! This book was so hard to put down for mundane reasons like work, preparing meals for my family and being a mom! ;-) It is an absolutely riveting read! Love, love, love it and am so glad it's the first in a new series! Can't wait to read more and hopefully get to know Blue, John and Michael.
If you get the chance, pick it up and give it a read! It has a bit of everything... being from other planets, love stories, action, adventure, good vs evil - everything you need to keep you riveted More...

While I much prefer the books she writes for Harlequin (they're more explicit, more heartpoundingly exciting, and light and funny, while at the same time, dark and twisty) I quite enjoyed this new series beginner. The story was well developed, (and the overall tone of the novel was much "darker" and less light-hearted than what's she's produced at Harlequin), and while the heroine could be a bit too "woe is me" and there was a lack of action and excitement at times, it still kept me interested a More...

First of all I would like to address the cover of this book, which is gorgeous! I love the bright red dress and everything else in black and white. I’d have to say one of my favorite Gena Showalter covers and she does not slack in the cover department.
I love Gena Showalter I really do! Her books tend to be smart, funny and action packed. This book is a spinoff of her Alien Huntress series, which is among my favorite series. This book however left me a bit disappointed.

I found myself getting impatient with the pacing of this story. It seemed we would take two steps forward and one back. I liked Solo but was more ambivilent about Vika- kept just wanting her to DO SOMETHING ALREADY! I'll certainly read the next in the series as Ms Showalter has proven herself time and again. Maybe Vika was just an anomaly.

I spent the first half of this book wondering if I had missed something - the lack of context for X and Dr. E confused the hell out of me - I felt like I was supposed to know more than I did. I think I am up to date on all of Gena's work but I'll have to double-check as I still feel a little confused. Regardless, I liked this quite a bit. The book seemed a bit sweeter/cuter than her other series but I still enjoyed it despite the less steamy sex scenes. The relationship between Solo and Vika was More...

I'm a huge fan of Gena's and have been for a long time! I have a hard time deciding if I like her LOTU, Atlantis, or Alien Huntress series. When I saw this one was going to be a spin off of her Alien Huntress series I was ecstatic.
I read the book when I was on vacation and I really loved it. I was on a cruise ship and this along with my kindle is all I brought with me. I didn't even touch my kindle, I dragged these around the ship with me.

In this world, alien life forms from all over the universe have come to Earth. Through battles, cities have crumbled and been rebuilt. Aliens have been abused, attacked, and barely been accepted. Over the years, some things have become more accepted but for the most part, humans and aliens don’t interact that much.

My Review:
Honestly, I don't even know where to start this review or even how to rate this book overall. This book was so completely different from what I'm used to with Gena's writing....and not necessarily in a bad way. It just truly wasn't what I was expecting. Honestly, I think that this book would be better marketed as a mainstream fiction book rather than a romance, although the romance is big in it. The book just seemed bigger than the romance overall. It reminded me a ton of Erin Morgenst More...

I don't know how to rate this book. And that is a hard thing for me to swallow when I am talking about one of Gena Showalters book. Because I have always loved everything that she has written. I even loved her Young Adult book Alice in Zombieland. Alice was a book my 12 yr old daughter loved to death. But this one....I'm just not sure.

There were some details that I didn't like, but otherwise, the couple and the whole story was a good introduction to the series. I felt that the ending could be a tad more expanded, but it was still a good ending to the book.
I think that, along with John and Blue, there are potential characters in this book that may end up getting their own books in the future. I can really see the Targon, Criss and her five brothers, Aundra (to some extent), and Michael get their own books in the future. Well, More...

For a while now I've been less than impressed with the work that Gena Showalter is putting out. LOTU started out on my auto-buy list, but I haven't bothered to even read the last few (imo, they've just started to sound too much like Kresley Cole which is a good thing...if I'm reading Kresley Cole). I thought I'd give this one a try though. It is set in the same world as her Alien Huntress series and, as far as I can tell, could have remained part of it. But whatever.

Well, I suppose this is what becomes of impulse buying books at the grocery store, LOL! Overall it was not bad, although honestly the first few chapters had me wondering why Gena was such a popular writer.
As the plot finally started to build, and the characters began to flesh out a bit, I did get more involved with the story. This is my first book by Ms. Showalter, so if there was some implied connection of this world to a wider Universe of her other series, it was lost on me, and that may have More...

Last Kiss Goodnight is the first in the Otherworld Assassin series, a spinoff of the Alien Huntress series. Solo is a block ops agent who is sold to a circus that features a zoo filled with Otherworlders; he wakes to find himself caged like an animal and on display for all to see. Vika is the circus owner's daughter, deaf by her father's hand and trapped in a violent life; she's been carefully planning her escape but needs to wait a while longer before she can put her plans into action. Solo and More...

As other reviewers have stated, I wanted to like this book, but it never clicked for me. My biggest peeve was the confusing worldbuilding. I believe that the book is set in the far future in this world, but it is never very clear. There are "otherworlders" living among humans, but there is no real explanation of how it all happened or what goes on in daily live. Cities are called New Atlanta, etc, but no explanation. It is mentioned that there are few forests left and the ones left are owed by t More...

and EXTREMELY quick review:
I would also say be advised that the first chapter with the heroine and setting up her future was probably the most brutal and effective writing, but may be considered a trigger for anyone who has seen or experienced domestic violence or abuse. So be warned in advance that there are references to this throughout the book. This is NOT a light, humorous novel set in the romance genre. If you go in expecting that, I think most would find it okay.

I generally tiptoe into reading a paranormal because, and I'll get this prejudice right out there, I hate erotica and in the vast majority of case paranormals are erotic paranormal. So I was happy to read this paranormal ROMANCE with a capital "R."
Set up for this series? We've got aliens from various planets raised on earth and turned into particularly effective Black Ops Team. And our alien heroes have issues.
The hero of LKG is Solomon Judah-- who is for all intents and purposes HELLBOY. I lo More...

first of all, I love the cover.. such beauty in a dark place..
I thank Gena Showalter for this spinoff series after the Alien Huntress series.
I've got a peek of Corbin Blue, from the Alien Huntress, the playboy athlete, that secretly is one of the otherworlder assassins, along with his brothers in task, John No Name and Solomon Judah.. can't wait for his story to come.
now, the first book tell the story of Solomon Judah, the Allorians, one of a rare kind. Solo has lived his life in solitude doing More...

First of all, look at that cover! Isn't it simply gorgeous. It drew me in right away. This book held so many elements of things I love that I don't know where to even start. It was very well written and edited (and as an editor, even when I read for pleasure I tend to catch things so it was nice to simply be immersed in the book.) We all know I love sci-fi romance, and this book was definitely that. The author set up a completely believable futuristic Earth that wove in aliens, magic, and advanc More...

A spin-off from Ms. Showalters Alien Huntress series. This series has a possibility of surpassing the original. Like the original there is lots of action and romance with arresting characters.
In this book Black-ops agent (and alien) Solomon Jonah is caught in an explosion and wakes up in a cage in a bizarre circus where aliens are the animals/freak show. His caretaker is the owner’s daughter Vika Lukas he knows she is the key to his escape but more importantly he recognizes her as his other half More...

I love Gena - absolutely love her. She had me at the first book of her LOTU series and it went from there. I will read anything that Gena writes...but this book was disappointing. I finished it and I felt cheated. Where was the snark? Where were the snappy come-backs? Where was the steamy sex?
This book fell flat on its pretty face. I always look forward to the next book in one of her series but I have to admit I couldn't care less what happens next in this one.

Here goes... While there seems to be a lot of negative reviews about this book, and mine is not going to be all that positive, I still highly recommend this book. I'm hoping this was a once in a lifetime kind of thing. A lapse in judgement. A temporary condition that impared the left side of her brain. Her muse on vacation. A brain fart. Just, anything temporary.

This book takes place in the same realm as her Alien Huntress series. I have never read any of the Alien Huntress series and I was not lost Ms. Showalter did a good job of introducing the world to a first time reader like me. In this world, otherworlders have come to earth, and this book takes place after the war between the otherworlders and humans.

I feel like I just jump into Alice's rabbit hole when I read this book. I think the whole narration captivate me more than the characters themselves. I like the idea how it takes place in a circus. It's very refreshing as it is similar to a prison with all the chain, cage and torture but yet different as it's a entertainment display after all.
If you like Gena, you would like this book as well. It's not the best...but not too bad. It's very similar to Alien huntress series (well..it is a spin-off More...
