Hypnosis is fascinating because it works so well and also because no one really knows HOW it works. Unfortunately it's often dismissed as fringe-y and unscientific, but this excellent book by a Harvard Medical School therapist uses real cases, both successes and failures, to offer insight into how it's used therapeutically.
