3.5 stars!

Received a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Back in 2014, I picked up an Amazon freebie. It has a shoddy title and the shadiest cover art. I was full of doubt and almost regretted downloading it, assuming it to be some plotless book with unnatural, dirty scenes (I still cannot comprehend a human-tentacles scenes. I cannot.). Short story. 39 pages

This short story I guess is introducing us to characters, so there are little snippets of most of the people except for Melisse, who is pretty much used and abused. Then she runs off to who knows where. The story is continued in the next book in the series. I'll look for the next book as this was interesting enough for me to continue.

I live in a land where giants have walked. Here, water springs cold and sweet from rocks cloven by legends in their passing.

Stone edifices mark the countryside, risen hundreds of years ago. Devils stalk the foothills and comely maids with webbed feet lie in wait along rough mountain passages.

France is my home and imbues all that I write...come with me, for a short while, and we shall venture among
