Wake Island is a small coral atoll mainly taken up by a runway and an associated airbase. It was used as a stopover by commercial and military flights, then later became a purely military site for firing missiles. This is my World Tour book for Guam and associated US Pacific territories.
The author moved there aged ten with his family in 1957 when his father got a job at the base and lived there for four years. On his first morning he meets some other boys whose fathers also work at the base and
