I was overwhelmingly impressed by the levels of complexity that had to have gone into thinking up and writing this story. Gareth Stokes is a master story teller who seems to have an innate understanding of plot structure and placement. I simply could not put this book down, laughed uproariously at many sections (the humor in this book is out of this world, pun intended), and made speechless by the stunning conclusion. I simply cannot wait to read more of Mr. Stokes' works!
More than 5 minutes worth of excitement.

I am not exactly a sci-fi fan but recently I read two novels in that genre I really enjoyed, one being 5 Minutes by Gareth Stokes.

This is a novel of epic proportions which deals with events in Russian history of the early twentieth century and stretches far into the future to the planet Excel and the Five Moons. The inhabitants of these places are descendents of “old Earth,” mixed in with robots, talking spaceships, and characters which are part human and
Quite possibly one of the strangest books I have ever read. There were times when I was wondering "why am I still reading this" but then, it would suck me right back in and I couldn't put it down.

Some of the characters made the book absolutely compelling and some of them made it absolutely despicable...but somehow, it worked.

I enjoyed this book. The story line is all over the place but it's a fun read with a strong female protagonist.
Couldn't get into it. I'll try again another time.
This book was like eating a piece of gum, tastes good, no sustenance, and leaves you wondering why you are still chewing it and why you haven't spit it out yet. It started off interesting but then lost all flavor.

I'm a greedy reader and enthusiastic reviewer: author of 5 Minutes (Science Fiction) and Universal Language (Mystery/Thriller). I'm especially fond of sci-fi, thrillers, and supernatural/fantasy. I've really enjoyed discovering new indie authors lately, and when I get around to updating my bookshelf, I expect to have more indies than trad-published authors on my list. I should also add that I'm mo ...more
