Curse of Ancient Shadows by Rod Tyson

Cat had a pretty normal life… or so she thought until her father went missing. She went to stay with her grandfather because her dad wasn’t around to pick her up from school. She hadn’t seen her grandfather in years and wasn’t sure what to expect, especially not that her family was cursed and the curse was after her. She had to decipher the clues and win the game that had been set in motion. Only one could live in the end, and the past events were not in

This was the first book I read by Rod Tyson and loved it's so much I had to read his second... then forgot to review this one, sorry Mr Tyson! I shall make amends now...
Curse of Ancient Shadows is really well written and edited, love the descriptive picture the author paints as our heroes enter spooky tunnels and walk the streets of the (very strange)small coastal community as an ancient brotherhood of knights forces our heroes to fight for their lives.
This is a great story for all ages with a f

When Rod Tyson, the author, asked me to review his book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. I read the blurb and the first thing that came into my mind was: Harry Potter! Ok, when you'll read the blurb, you'll realise that there's almost nothing to compare to the Famous Harry Potter series, but the mix of YA characters, magic, cursed people, ancient entity... Wow the main character had to pass through so much, just like Harry!

Anyway! When we start to read this book, we meet Cat, the main charact

Im gonna start by saying that i liked this book but i found it hard to follow. I liked the characters and I am pretty sure that someone in their tweens would enjoy much more than I did as I think it is more appropriate for that age and I do recommend it for the younger readers a lot. The reason I give it 3 stars is because I had a hard time following the 300000 characters (exaggeration) and all the story lines and also because it wasn't my cup of tea. But like I said some young readers would rea ...more

When I first decided to read this book I wasn't sure what to expect but I wanted to give it a chance. I'm glad I did.

Within the first few chapters I was pulled into the world and began guessing what was going to happen next. I finished the book within about a week I think and that's probably the fastest I've read anything in a while! Everything happened quickly which helped move the story along and keep me interested.

In this genre people come to expect certain things but Rod has managed to surp
The story is okay, the writing not too bad, but the characters fall a little flat. There is not a lot of development and the thought process seems to be a bit jumbled. We jump back and forth between a multitude of under developed and some what underwhelming characters. There are also a lot of characters, some of which seem completely unnecessary, and assist in what I perceive as rambling. There is just too much going on in this book, multiple stories being intertwined causing a jumbled confused ...more
