The evil Prince John! I knew very little about him, other than that he was called Lackland when he was born, for he had so many older brothers that there was nothing left to give to the baby of the family.
However, in J. P.'s book he is an evil, horrible, almost psychotic figure who you could definitely believe was descended of the Devil. His wife, never an innocent despite her young age, was as manipulative and vindictive as John was malicious and bloodthirsty.

Well Miss Jean has done it again. This was a great book about "That mean awful King John" I have been looking to read more about him and I did. If you like mean nasty men here is the book for you.
I really don't think he was any more nasty than some of the other Kings were. You ill have to read it with an open mind as how the author does write, but she really did study about him.

Eleanor Alice Burford, Mrs. George Percival Hibbert was a British author of about 200 historical novels, most of them under the pen name Jean Plaidy which had sold 14 million copies by the time of her death.
