I did it!! I finished the book before I saw the movie at 5:00pm today.

MOVIE:
You know what? I loved the book and the movie. Charlize Theron is a wonderful actress and she went hard as the Evil Queen "Ravenna". Chris Hemsworth *Swoon* I love him and as "Eric" he was perfect. I can't see anyone replacing him. Now onto Snow White... Snow... Oh, Snow... Kristin... Snow... WHY? To be honest I still don't think she brought anything to "Snow White". What??? how? and why? The movie ended and everything is well. Why two more movies? how in the fuck will they pull this shit off?? I don't get it. I honestly don't get how there will be two more movies. It's insane.

BOOK:
The novel is a tie-in to the motion picture. What does this mean? it means that the author Lily Blake took the script and worked it into novel form. Lily Blake! you did a spectacular job converting the script into a book. I applaud you tremendously! The book was fast paced, full of action, and I couldn't stop reading it. Why can't more authors write books like this? the character development was perfect, the story line was set, and the writing was freaking awesome. Even though this is a novelization of a movie, it has become one of my favorites of 2012. This book was 220 pages, did you hear that kiddos? 220 pages! not 500, not 900, not 1000, 220 pages. And what a bomb ass 220 paged book that was. If there are any others besides me out there reading this, take pointers from Lily's writing, she knows how to give you everything in a small amount and I hope to read one of her own books soon. This is my opinion, you may hate the book and the movie but that is all you. I enjoyed both but I loved the book more. Also, there are differences with the book and the movie. Some things are explained better in the book and there are more scenes. All thanks to the writer.

Read the book before you see the movie! :)

I've seen the advertisement for the film on TV many times and it looks amazing, but going to the cinema is so expensive so I can't afford it which is why I decided to pick up the book instead.

And I'm so happy I did..

As you can tell from the title, this is a re-telling of the fairy tale Snow White by Brothers Grimm and it was also made into a Disney movie.

I am a huge fan of fantasy kingdoms, castles, royalty, swords, quests, and evil queens. All of which are included in this story.

Snow White's father King Magnus was killed on his wedding night by his wife Queen Ravenna, and she imprisoned Snow White in the castle dungeon. Ravenna is a witch who needs to suck out the youth out of young girls to stay young. Then when Ravenna asks the mirror on the wall "who is the fairest of them all?" He replied "There is one more beautiful than you" and Ravenna is told that if she consumes Snow White's heart, she will stay young. She sends for Snow White, but Snow White manages to escape and she seeks refuge in the Dark Forest. Nobody who enters the forest comes back out alive, except a man called Eric, who Ravenna sends into the forest to return Snow White back to her.

I really enjoyed this novel. It was short, fast paced and well written. I really liked Snow White's character even though I didn't picture Kristen Stewart when I was reading about her.

My favourite character is Eric. He was very mysterious and had a very interesting back story and I really felt sorry for him. I feel that he was a well-developed character with a realistic personality.

I wanted to get to know Snow White's childhood friend William's character a bit more because he was interesting but I didn't feel like I got to know his character very well..

My favourite part was the relationship between Eric and Snow White.

*Update* I went to see the film at the cinema with a friend, and it was amazing! The book and the film are so alike, and they did leave some of the book out but no important parts, so overall it was fantastic. I prefer the book because I prefer reading than watching films. I didn't picture Kristen Stewart as Snow White, even when I was watching the film. I HATE Twilight and didn't like Kristen in it, but her acting was really good in Snow White, so if you've read the book YOU HAVE TO SEE THE FILM!!!

First of all, I haven't yet seen the movie...
Secondly, dispite giving this book 3 stars (I felt it was too rushed all the way through) I did enjoy it, and I still want to see the movie. (Chris Hemsworth DOES help swing this though lol)

A história começa tudo em paz, até que em uma batalha que é usada como disfarce, os guerreiros encontram uma bela dama aprisionada e o rei se encanta com ela e como sua mulher morreu, se casa com ela.Ela mata o pai de Branca de Neve(o rei) e aprisiona a menina no calabouço.

Eu tenho que confessar que gostei do livro, mas fiquei um pouco desapontado, esperava algo muito maior, tanto pela publicidade em volta dele como pela sinopse.A história no começo não é linear, ou seja, a história vai e volta, não segue uma linha de narrativa, mas não chega a confundir nada.Algumas partes no começo me fez lembrar o livro "Bruxas, Bruxos e os feitiços mais cruéis que se pode imaginar"(resenha aqui), por conta do cenário, e do ar de suspense nos contos de fadas.

"O lodo trazia veneno em si.Poderia dizer isso por causa dos ossos de pequenos animais que emergiam das profundezas."

Essa versão traz alguns elementos diferentes, a Floresta Sombria por exemplo, apesar de na maioria das versões a floresta ser o local mal da região nesta ela é realmente sombria mostra a revolta da natureza, todas as versões mantém a estrutura de madrasta má e a Branca de Neve, dessa vez traz na capa uma Branca de Neve guerreira, mas esperava que ela fosse mais guerreira, mas ainda assim é vítima e um pouco frágil, tenho curiosidade se ainda vão lançar um livro com outro personagem principal, eu sei que o conto é da Branca de Neve, mas seria interessante destacar e ter essa versão contada por outro personagem.

"-Esse não é o tipo de coisa a se dizer nesses tempos.O elogio se torna uma maldição.Juventude não se pode alterar, beleza no entanto..."

Apesar dela querer vingar a morte de seu pai, a madrasta também estava na busca de vingança da sua família, então caímos na pergunta: vingança por vingança quem tem a verdadeira razão se um está vingando o outro?Os personagens são os clássicos(anões, caçador, madrasta, rei, povo, etc), e neste contém as fadas, um toque a mais, eu achei que o Finn, irmão da madrasta é um completo idiota, faz tudo que ela manda e obedece, a relação de amizade com os anões foi bem rápida, é claro que estavam num momento de desespero, mas a confiança foi num estalar de dedos quase, vários acontecimentos foram bem rápidos, achei que a autora poderia ter detalhado mais algumas partes.

O livro tem somente 208 páginas, é uma leitura bem rápida, que por conta da diagramação maravilhosa e de capítulos curtos você lê rapidinho, indico para todos lerem, verem mais uma versão da Branca de Neve e se divertirem, e assistam o filme, eu assisti e adorei os efeitos!

Confesso-me que fui ler o livro após ter visto o filme por achar que este tinha muitas lacunas. Houve coisas que aconteceram muito rápido e o fim soube-me a pouco. Assim sendo, quando descobri que havia um livro do filme decidi ir lê-lo. Infelizmente, para mal dos meus pecados, só a meio do livro e após uma pesquisa na internet é que me apercebi que o livro é apenas uma transcrição do filme com uma ou outra nova informação e não o livro que deu origem ao filme.

Fazit:
„Snow White and the Huntsman“ von Lily Blake basiert auf dem Drehbuch zum gleichnamigen Film, der seit Ende Mai in den Kinos läuft. Aufgrund dieser Tatsache ist das Buch sehr nah am Film und wer ihn gesehen hat, kann ihn mit Hilfe des Buches noch einmal genau durchleben. Das Kopfkino ist auf jeden Fall vorhanden.
Diesmal möchte ich mit der Aufmachung des Buches beginnen, weil sie einfach so unglaublich schön ist. Auf der Klappenbroschur befinden sie schöne Sprüche, die sich auf Snow White und die böse Königin Ravenna beziehen. Vor jedem neuen Kapitel gibt es das Wappen des Königreiches und eine extra Kapitelseite. Normalerweise erwähne ich so was gar nicht, aber die Aufmachung sieht einfach toll aus!

Snow White ist ein sehr tapferes Mädchen. Nachdem sie 10 Jahre im Kerker gefangen war, gelingt ihr endlich eine spektakuläre Flucht. Doch sehr weit kommt sie nicht, da sie sich im Dunkelwald verirrt, wo an jeder Ecke neue Gefahren lauern.
Als sie den Jäger Eric kennen lernt, gilt ihm ihre tiefste Verachtung. Doch mit der Zeit erkennt sie, dass er gar kein so schlechter Typ ist und ab und an sogar ganz gut aussieht. Die gegebenen Umstände machen ihr klar, dass es etwas gibt, für das es sich zu kämpfen lohnt. Ihrem Volk würde es viel besser gehen, wenn sie sich Königin Ravenna stellt und sie zum Fall bringt.
Der Jäger Eric ist ein sehr gebrochener Mann, nachdem er seine Frau Sara verloren hat. Er ertränkt sich im Alkohol und verdient sein Geld als Kopfgeldjäger. Doch dadurch macht er sich alles andere als beliebt bei seinen Mitmenschen und zieht sich immer mehr in seine eigene Welt zurück. Nachdem Königin Ravenna ihn auf die Jagd nach Snow White geschickt hat, muss er feststellen, dass sie ihn belogen hat und flieht mit Snow White in die Wälder. Sie erinnert ihn sehr an seine verstorbene Frau und er macht es sich zur Aufgabe, sie zu beschützen, da er es bei seiner eigenen Frau versagt hat.

„Snow White and the Huntsman“ ist eine weitere Neuinterpretation des Märchens „Schneewittchen“ (ursprünglich „Sneewittchen“) der Gebrüder Grimm. Hier wird sie als tapfere junge Frau dargestellt, die für ihr Volk ihr Leben geben würde, um das Land vor der Herrschaft der bösen Königin zu befreien. Im Vordergrund steht außerdem der Jäger, seine Geschichte und seine Einstellung zu Snow White als Prinzessin des Reiches.

Von Filmbüchern darf man niemals eine wirklich tiefgründige Einsicht in die Geschichte erwarten, so auch bei diesem Buch nicht. Da es auf dem Drehbuch basiert, erkennt man, wenn man den Film gesehen hat, viele Textstellen wieder. Das einzige, was noch mehr hervorgehoben wird, sind die Gefühle der Hauptcharaktere. Snow Whites anfänglicher Hass zu Eric oder die Zuneigung zwischen Ravenna und ihrem Bruder werden im Buch deutlicher als im Film. Was mir wirklich gefallen hat, war das Kopfkino, das ich beim Lesen die ganze Zeit hatte. Ich wusste aufgrund des Filmes genau, welche Szene gerade von statten ging und konnte mir alles direkt vorstellen. Der Film hat mir schon unglaublich gut gefallen – so auch das Buch.
Wunderschöne Aufmachung, tolle Story und Charaktere, die man einfach mögen muss, auch wenn ich mir ein bisschen mehr Gefühl zwischen Snow White und Eric gewünscht hätte – aber wie man so hört, soll es ja eine Fortsetzung geben. Da bleibt ja doch noch ein Funken Hoffnung ;) (less)

Questo romanzo non può mancare nelle librerie degli amanti delle favole.
In stile dark rievoca infatti la famosissima favola "Biancaneve e i sette nani" dei fratelli Grimm.

I have no idea how to rate this book so I opted with three because it wasn't boring and it was... well, okay. Not bad, not good. You know, that sort of thing.

Prima di conoscere la storia,il libro è un godimento per gli occhi,perchè la cover riprende la locandina del film e anche se è un racconto moderno,all'interno è stata creata una grafica per introdurre i capitoli che ricorda le favole di quando eravamo piccoli..anche solo il "c'era una volta" iniziale rimanda all'inizio tipico delle favole,quindi è stato fatto un gioco di antico/moderno.
La storia è piacevole,con brevi capitoli e parti più scorrevoli rispetto ad altre,ma assolutamente originale,sia per come si svolge,sia per i ruoli dei personaggi,sia per il finale.
Una delle parti che ho trovato senz'altro più interessanti è l'inizio,perchè nella favola Walt Disney non viene spiegato perchè la regina è così cattiva,ma grazie a questo libro finalmente vengono svelate le sue origini ,che l'hanno portata successivamente al lato oscuro.
L'autrice ci porta in un'atmosfera alla Tim Burton,dai toni cupi: basti pensare alla Foresta Tenebrosa,dove la vita è costantemente in pericolo e la natura è "matrigna"; ai guerrieri ombra o all'ambientazione.
Protagonista indiscussa è Biancaneve: bellissima,sensibile,sveglia e risoluta..l'unica che può risollevare le sorti del regno,mentre il principe azzurro rimane in seconda fila.
Biancaneve fa parte delle nuove eroine,che rispecchiano le ragazze moderne: prende in mano la sua vita,è romantica e combattiva.
La novità di questa storia è anche il personaggio del Cacciatore,che se all'origine si vedeva di sfuggita,qui sarà il protagonista maschile,la cui storia sarà approfondita..diciamo che chi era secondario,diventerà primario.
E' un romanzo leggero e interessante proprio per questo cambio di prospettive e di ruoli.(less)

Hace unos momentos termine de leerlo, no tenía grandes expectativas, de hecho no me llamaba en lo absoluto pero decidí darle la oportunidad, y el resultado final no fue tan malo.

No he visto la película pero la novela me gusto, no queda entre mis libros favoritos aunque si es uno que recomendaría, si quieren pasar un buen rato, entretenido, este libro es el indicado. So much potential.
I saw the movie and LOVED it, then I thought; "OMG, if this was a book, it must be AMAZING!" You can imagine how excited I was to see it there in my local bookstore, sitting there, waiting for me. Calling for me.
So I picked it up, fantastic thoughts racing through my mind!
It was rubbish.

Writing: Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. The style is more `narrative' and not detailed. There is no decryption to anything; it's as if the author expected everyone to know what everything looked...more

My bestfriend gave this book to me on my birthday so I started reading it right away :) It was quite an easy read. I finished withing 5 hours. Anyway, as everyone may already know its a book based on a movie that's base on a folk tale. The plot was promising though I think the story moved wayyy too fast. Snow White was trapped inside the dungeon for 10 years, it's a bit skeptical that she learned how to fight and hold a sword in just a few days. Il libro di Lily Blake, è tratto dalla sceneggiatura scritta per la versione cinematografica e forse è per questo che non l'ho trovato un granchè, anzi, mi è parso decisamente noioso : per la prima volta forse preferisco decisamente il film alla versione cartacea. Mi spiego meglio: in questa rivisitazione vediamo particolari ormai noti della favola originale, come la ragazzina, la strega che vuol essere la più bella, lo specchio che le da l'amara notizia dell'esistenza di una donna più bella di lei, un cacciatore che si lascia impietosire praticamente subito e qualche creaturina fantastica come i nani e fin qui, tutto normale. Ecco il problema. E' tutto troppo normale per una rivisitazione in chiave dark..troppe cose prevedibili, persino le storie dentro la storia, come i trascorsi del cacciatore, la presenza del fratello della strega Ravenna, non lasciano spazio all'immaginazione: si fa ben presto a delineare i personaggi, complici forse anche i dialoghi per nulla entusiasmanti.
L'unica cosa che davvero ho apprezzato è stato lo spazio dato al cacciatore: alla fine è lui che fa tutto il lavoro, no? E' lui che si deve avventurare alla ricerca della dolce donzella, e che alla fine rischia di prendersi addosso l'ira della strega..qui, oltre all'essere al suo carattere da cacciatore impietosito, esce il suo essere uomo, con dei sentimenti molto più profondi della pietà e con una grande forza, sia fisica che d'animo. Appare un uomo capace di provare amore e vendetta. Il cacciatore eroe. Alla faccia del caro principino che arriva quando praticamente è giù tutto fatto, giusto in tempo per sperare che la giovane si svegli con un suo bacio..(facile così, no?)
In conclusione "Biancaneve e il cacciatore" è uno young adult dalla scrittura scorrevole e veloce, ma che pecca decisamente in originalità e colpi di scena (al di fuori di quelli presenti nella classica storiella disneyana che ormai tutti conosciamo). Ve lo consiglio se cercate una rivisitazione non troppo "rivisitata", e decisamente non così dark come ci si aspetterebbe.(less)

I should have known better than to read a book based on a movie based on a folk tale, but I read it anyway. It had a lot of potential, plot-wise; I would be all about a well-written story in which Snow White escapes her evil stepmother and is trained to fight in order to kill the evil queen. Since I saw the movie, that's probably why I gave this 2 stars, at first. This was a shoddily written book. I could have done better at writing it. It should have been listed as a junior novelization, it's that poorly written, except some junior novelizations are quite good. I like the character of the Huntsman, which saved this. More back story could have been included on every character, including Snow White.

Having seen the movie last weekend I decided to read this as a fill-in whilst waiting for another book to come out. I had read about 60% of it before changing to the book I was waiting for, then went back and read the rest this morning. I must say that I really enjoyed it. I realise that it was a movie tie-in book and written from the script but I found that it was really well written and slightly different to the movie. You know what I love? Creatively re-told fairy-tales. You know what I hate? Terribly re-told fairy-tales made into crappy movies and then made into a book, written with poor prose. That pretty much summarizes how I feel about this (audio)book.

Let's start with the good:

1. The narrator was excellent. She also read for Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Why We Broke Up, the Iron King, and many other audiobooks. Let's start with the good:

1. The narrator was excellent. She also read for Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Why We Broke Up, the Iron King, and many other audiobooks. She made even the dullest most pointless sentences, pieces of dialogue, and descriptions sound interesting, and managed to hold my attention most of they way through the audiobook (until I stopped for dinner, and then realized I really didn't want to start listening again.)

2. It was fast-paced. The plot never slowed... but there were parts where the unneeded descriptions seemed to slow down and break the tension, or unnecessary interior monologue broke the mood.

3. The bad guys were very bad, and the good guys were very good. It made it a classic hero-vilan fairy-tale.

Now for the not-so-good:

1. Poor writing. It wasn't Stephenie-Meyer Terrible, but every sentence started with "he..." "she..." "He said," "She felt..." and it felt repetitive and boring. There was no sentence structure besides basic subject-verb-direct object. Also, the adjectives, adverbs, and overall descriptions and vocabulary was boring, expected, and unfeeling.

2. Who names a princess "Snow White?" Really? I can see naming her "Snow" or something, but if you're going to re-tell a fairy-tale, at least give your heroine a name that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I realize that this is a complaint about the movie screenplay, not the book adaption... but still. It felt awkward to have all these names like William, Eric, Gus, Anna, Lilly, and... Snow White.

3. The bad guys were soul-less, and the good guys were perfect. Even bad characters have some redeeming value as to why you kind of wish they didn't have to die, but they're bad so you have to kill them. The bad guys in this story were just so bad, there was no way you could not hate them. The good guys were flawless: children obeyed their parents, men saved their women, women sacrificed for their families, and Snow White was a sweet innocent little angel. I'm sorry, but even good guys have a bad side. And if you're perfect, I couldn't care less what happens to you, because I can't relate to you.

So that is, essentially, why I stopped listening to the audiobook halfway through.(less)

Veamos..

Tengo que admitir que no me suelen gustar los libros basados en películas ya que por lo general son compilaciones de fotos de escenas y/o de la grabación de la película y de los actores en premieres.

También tengo que contarles que soy una adicta a los cuentos de hadas, desde niña obligaba a que me los contaran mis papas me contaban dulcemente un cuento antes de dormir, así que apenas veo una historia relacionada va directo a la lista de lectura.

I'm beginning to think that books based on movies are forever doomed. From last year’s Red Riding Hood to this new gothic fairy tale remake, these types of books are setting the bar excruciatingly low for their kind.

I want to begin this review by saying that I have not yet seen the Snow White and the Huntsman movie. I do plan to see it when it comes out on DVD I’ve actually heard great things about it, which is why I picked up the book in the first place. Unfortunately, the book sucks.

I want to begin this review by saying that I have not yet seen the Snow White and the Huntsman movie. I do plan to see it when it comes out on DVD I’ve actually heard great things about it, which is why I picked up the book in the first place. Unfortunately, the book sucks.
I mean, Blake’s writing is really good. Her gothic style is quite gripping, and her imagery is lovely. But what good is a finely crafted tool that writes empty messages?

The characterization in Snow White and the Huntsman is horribly poor. The only definitive qualities we are given to attribute to Snow—I’m calling her Snow despite the book’s lack of this apparent nickname—are her courage, her mysteriousness, and the fact that she slants her eyes when she’s angry. I would add her scrawny physique to this list (she’s been locked up in a tower for 10 years), but she apparently develops high endurance and stamina after escaping her prison, because she traipses through the Dark Forest for days and fights off huge monsters.
The Huntsman is no better. I don’t understand why Snow holds him in such high regards; it’s not like he has much going for him. Let’s review his qualities, shall we? He’s a drunk. He can track animals. Oh, and he’s saved Snow White’s life a few times. He’s also almost killed her, but that’s beyond the point, isn’t it?

Now, the evil queen—she’s something else. If Ravenna wants something, she makes every attempt to get it, paying no heed to the consequences of her actions. Her motivations are crystal clear, her cruel personality is well shaped, and she is most certainly Snow White and the Huntsman’s best developed character. I could have used a little less evil laughing, but I still believe that she is the highest point of this novel. And you know it’s a bad sign when I’m rooting for the bad guy.

Blake’s protagonists are not the only element of hers that fell flat; her plot was also very disappointing. I think that the reason I’m so angry about this is because it held so much promise. The ideas which she had to go on were amazing—I’m told that the movie’s plot is flawless—and I feel as though if she would have developed it just a bit more, Snow White and the Huntsman would have been that much better. Its measly 200 pages are certainly not enough to do it justice.

Did I mention the fact that Snow White and the Huntsman’s ending is awful? Because it is. Let me put you in context here: Blake has a bit of a love triangle going on between Snow, the Huntsman, and a certain childhood friend. Now, in the last chapter, Snow White clearly chooses which option she prefers. However, this option leaves (in a self-deprecating type way) and Snow just lets him go. She just lets him go without even telling him of her feelings for him. Where is that decided evil queen when you need her?

I’m giving Snow White and the Huntsman 2.9/5 stars. It had so much potential but failed to measure up to its expectations, lacking real characters, a decent ending, and the imaginative plot details trademarked by YA novels.

I wanted to read Snow White and the Hunstman because I knew I probably wouldn’t be seeing the film, but I didn’t want to miss out on all the hype and excitement surrounding it. While the plot was good one (and more compelling than the Disney version, if you ask me), I couldn’t really engage completely with the book. While the plot was good one (and more compelling than the Disney version, if you ask me), I couldn’t really engage completely with the book. I’ve had this problems with books based on films before, and I just think the length of the book (220 pages) didn’t leave room to allow a fully developed story. I think the book would be more enjoyable read alongside the film instead of a substitute for it, so I would still recommend this to anyone who saw and enjoyed the movie.

The Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman was ruthless. Absolutely ruthless. She wasn’t just obsessed with being the fairest of them all because she was vain, she actually enjoyed sucking the youth out of people and being in power. She did seem to have a reason for it, something that happened in the past, but this was only partially explained and there wasn’t as much depth to the Queen’s character as there could have been. It was the same for the Huntsman. He also had a painful past, but a lot was skimmed over and while I did like him, I felt like he and none of the characters were really fleshed out, which is why this book would be better read accompanying the film instead of separately.

I liked Snow White – she was less of a damsel in distress, and more willing to fight to protect herself. However, she didn’t actually do much throughout the whole book. Really she was led everywhere by the Huntsman, and even when she saved him from the troll, all she did was stare the troll down to make it go away. Stare it down. A troll. I have no idea how that worked. Her relationship with the Huntsman was strange and I didn’t really understand what they were by the end. Friends? Comrades? More? And when William turned up, a friend from her childhood, it was even more confusing! I wouldn’t have minded if it’d been resolved in the end, but it was all sort of just left open and never explained.

My main problem was that I felt like everything happened too fast. One minute Snow White was locked in the tower, next minute she was on the run, five minutes later she had already befriended the Huntsman. The meeting with the seven dwarves literally whizzed past. They were strangers, and then a few pages later they were mourning together like old friends. I did really like the darker aspect of the story though and the fact that Snow White actually rode out to meet the Queen. I also liked the fact that the Huntsman wasn’t just a tool of the Queen and that the dwarves weren’t kindly men but were actually quite fierce.

Overall, Snow White and the Huntsman was a quick read but lacked the character development I usually look for in books. If you liked the movie or are planning to see the movie, give the book a go.

I know I didnt read the book, but I think some of you might want a review of the movie instead. I'm horrible with remembering most names, so I'm just going to identify each of the actors by their role.

Loved it! People need to relax and accept kristen stewart(who was played as snow white). I feel that the only reason people hated Kristen Stewart was because she came from TWILIGHT...even though I didn't "love" twilight, I still put that feeling aside and judged Kristen for her acting skills in this movie. Tie-in books are hit and miss, usually miss.

“Snow White and the Huntsman” was a definite miss. I really wanted to like it, because I was so excited about the movie. The trailers looked amazing!

I read the book to tide me over until the movie comes out on DVD, as I won’t be seeing it in the theatre. But reading the tie-in made me not want to see the movie at all. The story, which seemed so cool and different in the trailers, was boiled down to a lackluster tale that went from A to B to C.
