I cannot get over how perfect this series is. It's one of the few out there that I genuinely look forward to. There are plenty of good comics on the shelves these days, but few manage to nail character, action, and originality simultaneously, and I don't think any do it as well as BPRD. This is one of those incredibly rare series that builds its mysteries and then actually PAYS THEM OFF. None of these lame excuses like "the journey is more important than the destination." Yes, the journey needs...more

This collection is why I love the Hellboy universe. This collection expands on the origins of Daimio and Abe. Plus there a Wendigo in the story! Who can pass on a Wendigo story. I know I can't. the two things that made this volume worth reading was Abe Sapiens history is explored. When learn more about who Langdon Everett Caul is. The second thing is Cap. Daimio origin. Daimio is such an interesting character and now I'm a little in love with him. He might be the coolest character in the BPRD un...more

I've already said this in my reviews of the other B.P.R.D. hardcovers, but, while I don't generally like the B.P.R.D. as much as the regular Hellboy titles, that's really not it's fault but mine, and that doesn't mean I don't still love the B.P.R.D. titles. For my reviews of the individual trades see those trades, but this is mostly just a marker to say that the hardcovers are my preferred format at this point. They contain everything the trades contained, plus a little extra, and they're except...more

This is definitely my favorite volume of the new hardcover edition of the series. To me, it's where the story really starts to move: Abe returns from exile, Liz's visions seem inescapable, Daimio's past is revealed, and the ending is a bloody cliffhanger. It's also where the collaborative team of Mignola and Arcudi and Davis really starts to hum along, and the result is a tightly-woven story that promises an amazing ending.

It seems odd to use the word "Poignant" to describe a Hellboy comic, but that's exactly what this was. Taking a bit of a time out from the "Plague of Frogs" story to explore the characters as they deal with life, death and loss was really the right choice. All while maintaining the the horror/action beats that you would expect. It adds up to a great chapter that had me tearing through the pages.

Whether because I know the characters better than in the first two volumes or because the stories have become that much stronger is irrelevant, this is one of the best comic collections I've read. The world is one where actions have consequences, and where everything isn't always explained at the end like a TV sitcom.

This is my favorite of the B.P.R.D.: Plague of Frogs collections so far. We are treated to a whole batch of world and character expanding stories, set against the back drop of some far greater threat to come. I can't go in to to much detail with out ruining it but we see a devil's bargain, a strange island in the pacific, jungle curses, a new lease on life for someone, and one hell of a cliffhanger. Its some seriously exciting times.

I must also say that the story writing of Mike Mignola and John...more

The were-jaguar's share of Ben Daimio's story arc is collected here with perfectly paced horror sections and some truly inspired science fiction. The best.

Following a huge numbers of frogs in book 2, this collection offers more diversity and originality. Arcudi and Davis take the BPRD further along their dark and strange journey. And again, value for money makes this a no-brainer.

Damn!!!!! BPRD is one of the best team books out there. Only annoyance lives the story at a cliff hanger......

Fantastic; here's where Plague of Frogs really hits its stride.

By far the best B.P.R.D. stories I've read. Amazing art, some hilarious moments, compelling story, great characters and plenty of "WTF?!" moments - what more could you ask for?

More good stuff; creepy, visceral and inspirational. Really dug some of the stories. Overall, I thought the entire Plague of Frogs 3-volume collection was excellent.
