Pertama, saya pikir ini historical-romance yg settingnya di Timur tengah sono dg sheikh's dan haremnya yg exotic. Turnes out it's contemporary novel, a harlequin.
Plotnya menarik, tapi kayaknya ini lanjutan dari seri Olivia Gates yg lain deh~ soalnya sering banget si Queen Demon, Ibu Haidar disebut2 sebagai dalang segala konspirasi dalam kerajaan. Tapi karena hanya diceritakan dari mulut org lain, dna bukannya muncul sendiri jadi kerasa missed gitu deh. Mungkin bagi yg uda baca seri sebelumnya b...more

This book did not caught my attention in the beginning despite of the exotic plot and description. I’m not quite sure why, but that’s how I feel about this book. Perhaps the pace is too slow and I wish that there’s more action between the hero and the heroine in this story instead of just emotional ups and downs. I also feel that there’s missing pieces that I can’t really put a finger to, but i suppose...more

Just when I think Olivia Gates can't give us a more luscious alpha male, she goes and creates another distinctive, unforgettable one who shares everything with all her heroes, yet stands out as a totally different man. I don't know how she does it! I loved Haidar and his uncanny mix of irresistibility and vulnerability, not to mention that he's smokin' hot! And Roxanne was as usual, a strong, independent, witty heroine who stood as his equal, yet wasn't beyond groveling when she realized how muc...more
THE SHEIKH'S REDEMPTION by USA Bestselling author Olivia Gates is a Harlequin Desire release for June 2012.
Roxanne was back in Azmahar after eight years. She had walked out of an intense relationship with Prince Haidar Aal Shalaan and had vowed never to come back. The economic instability of Azmahar brought her back. As a political and economic analyst, she was the best there was. But it also brought her face to face with Haidar. And she found out that the spark still flew between them! Now the...more

The Desert Knights miniseries is off to a captivating start with a story overflowing with profoundly affecting emotions between its engaging couple. Olivia Gates is a master when it comes to portraying feelings backed by genuine reactions, and THE SHEIKH'S REDEMPTION adeptly showcases her gifted talent.
When Roxanne Gleeson shockingly walked away from Price Haidar Aal Shalaan eight years ago, he vowed to never let anyone get close to him or believe in others. When the Kingdom of Azmahar, the home...more

This is a nice romance but it has a lot of love scenes that skipped over. I feel like a lot of the story I
have missed by not reading past books of this series. Also feel like thier is more to the story line in
more books coming. In fact I just found out that Jamal's story is coming September 2012.
Haidar Aal Shalaan's and his twin brother Jamal are not close. In fact they have not been since they
were children. Haidar has been favored by his mother, Queen Sondosss of Zohayd. She knew her sons were...more

Good book. I wasn't sure at first if I would like it, because Haidar was such a cold, vindictive guy. He had returned to Azmahar as one of the men in the running to take over the country. He saw this as a way to make up for his mother's evil ways. He was also going to get Roxanne back in his bed. Roxanne was back in the country as a political economist, to help the country recover from the disaster the previous ruler had caused. She knew she would end up seeing Haidar again, and wanted nothing t...more
Olivia Gates's latest masterpiece! And yes, it's nothing short of that. The Sheikh's Redemption has unique characters, so real you think you know them, and so detailed inside and out, you think you can see everything they do, and feel everything they feel. It's amazing how Ms. Gates writes, to transport you right into the characters minds and hearts. Haidar is yet another of her to-die-for sheikhs, but he's also different from them all. He has this...vulnerability, this humanity to him that I fo...more
OMG! How HOT is Haidar???? And how's that for alliteration? ;)
But yeah, Haidar is so hot, and powerful and fun and accessible, you just want to drag him out of the pages and eat him up. And the continuing stories of those luscious Aal Shalaan brothers in this book had me involved and not knowing what will come next. The heat level was off the charts, the interaction between Haidar and Roxanne (and him and RASHID!!!!) was so emotional and mesmerizing, and OMG so WITTY I found myself memorizong wh...more

A start to another great series from Ms Gates. It is very closely linked to the Pride of Zohayd series and although it is not essential that you read that series first, I do strongly recommend that you do as it will help the characters and story fall into place.
Haidar returns to his homeland as one of the three candidates to become king. Roxanne, the woman who walked away from him eight years ago, is the political-economic analyst who has been assigned to help the country recover from t...more

The Sheikh’s Redemption by Olivia Gates
From an early age Prince Haidar Aal Shalaan’s mother had drilled into his head that he should and would be King. But circumstances at birth made it impossible. Nobody imagined how far his mother would go to make that happen. Now with the cloud of his mother’s actions hanging over him, Haidar has to prove that he was merely a pawn in her deceit, not a willing participant who had no knowledge of his plot. Through his arrogance he lost the one woman he loved,...more

I read The Sheikh's Redemption right at the perfect time. I have an addiction to Sheikh's and hadn't had my fix for a long time.
Straight away I was hooked to the masculine dominance of Haidar. I love the stern, possessive and confident types and although Haidar wasn't confident underneath all his emotional armor he definitely acted self assured.
Roxanne and Haidar are mean't for each other but due to a monumental misunderstanding they are no longer together...*insert dramatic music* Until divine...more

In these two flashback, one will understand the reason for changes that happened to Haidar and the reason it happened. Haidar, after leaving his country for the duration

This was the first Romance book I have ever read cover to cover. I was shocked that it pulled me in, everything else in the past had me rolling my eyes with the cheese factor. I gave the book four out of five only because there was some corniness. I still feel the way that things are described during intimate scenes are the cheesiest things going. However, there was an actual storyline here, and her intimate scenes were still a lot better than I've read in the past. It's such a short book and I...more
I read this book after reading Fifty Shades of Grey (bleh) and all through it I was thinking now *this* is what romance is all about, this is how you write about alpha-male dominating men, this is how you create a strong and likeable main character. I'd never heard of Olivia Bates before this book but I'll definitely look for more books by her.

The Sheikh's Redemption by Olivia Gates gives us that destination read we all crave. Gates does not disappoint in this enjoyable read that transports us to sands of the Middle East. Prince Haidar is smokin' hot and Roxanne can't forget him, theirs is a passion that will not die. Harlequin delivers once again, stories that are perfect for daily reads. There is just enough action, romance, and angst to keep readers happy. I am looking forward to both Rasid's and Jalal's stories. Rasid is scarred a...more
We start with an abused child, brutally trained by his mother not to trust anyone, ever. So while it may be somewhat hard to relate to alpha male Haidar, at first, we can remember the hurt child.
Despite his conditioning, he'd fallen in love with Roxanne, and she with him. Thanks to Mommy Dearest, their romance ended, years back, but when she returned to the small desert kingdom of Azmahar, the sparks fly again. She's there to help Haidar's estranged twin brother, her best friend Jalal, press his...more

Incredible as usual. Scorching passion, involving plot, meticulous details that make you feel you're right there watching a vivid movie, scintillating wit and dialogue and three-dimensional characters (and not only the hero and heroine, I mean every character in the book) that I can't wait to see again and read more about in the two upcoming books of the Desert Knights trilogy. I've already re-read the book twice, and it's now on my keeper shelf. Can't wait for Jalal's story in The Sheikh's Clai...more
Hello, Olivia Gates!
Hello, Harlequin Presents series Desire!
I have a great many friends that read these books but the truck load. Always, I have been curious as to what draws them to the quick reads of Harlequin that seem to cookie cutter and perfect. So, I took a chance and requested for review a few books. Let me just say, that with Olivia Gates, I was not disappointed!

Just when I think Olivia Gates can't get any better, she does! The Sheikh's Redemption has to be her most 'mature' relationship novel yet! The way Haidar and Roxanne grew up, resolved their personal issues and grew closer was one of the books. And Haidar has to be the most human and fun alpha male I've yet had the pleasure to read. That role-playing trick he played on Roxanne in front of her neighbors still has me chuckling!

perhaps it was just me, but the family's political plottings were just too much for me, and served to make this book just a tad confusing. the hero is relentless in his pursuit of the heroine once he sees her after an 8 year absence, and the heroine idoesn't want to succumb to his manly embrace, but of course, she eventually does. big misunderstandings, wicked family plots, etc.
