Humor, mystery, male confusion and female mayhem are only the tip of the iceberg in the two fun stories that make up this delightful and entertaining book.

The first one has a yummy title, The Steadfast Hot Soldier which is quite accurate in describing the hero, John Midwinter. He’s a solder coming home to help out his mom. Sounds so sweet, loyal and benign, doesn’t it? Not so fast. His mom is not Donna Reed or Claire Huxtable but more...more

Take a dog groomer, a hot private eye and a totally un-cute dog and you have the makings of Wild Thing, a short novel by Tawny Weber. Andrea is the groomer, proud of creating her own business out of financial crises. Percy is the PI and the doggy is called Medusa.
Ah, but this Medusa doesn’t have snakes in her head, she has DREADLOCKS. Probably a good thing since she is a Chinese Crested and they have no hair on this bodies except head and tail! Medusa has gone missing and, which Percy was trying...more

Two sizzling hot stories in one novel! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:

THE STEADFAST HOT SOLDIER by Rhonda Nelson

Between his skill and size, Major John ‘Bear’ Midwinter, a U.S. Army ranger, is a natural warrior. Although he did not feel that he owed his mother anything, he had returned to his hometown of Hydrangea to ready his mother’s dance studio and apartment for sale. Bear does not even know his father’s name. His mother had been a gifted ballet dancer in New York when she got pre...more

I just loved "The Steadfast Hot Tin Soldier." There was just something sweetly compelling about Bear and Veda. One of my "dislikes" has always been interfering parents, but even Veda's super-annoying mother couldn't ruin this for me. I give this novella 5 stars. "Wild Thing" was a 3 1/2 stars. It was a pleasant enough read, there just wasn't any punch to it. I thought the elaborate dognapping plot was implausible and never did feel a spark between Andrea and Percy.

I loved the Rhonda Nelson half of this book. Rhonda Nelson's stories are always a lot of fun, and this one was no different. The novelette by Tawny Weber was trite, and forced and just plain pretty darned bad. One of those stories that makes me wish I didn't feel the compulsion to finish every story/book I start.

I loved Rhonda Nelson's story, THE STEADFAST SOLDIER.

Tawny Weber's story, WILD THING, was good, but seemed more like a romantic comedy than a Blaze.Tawny Weber

Loved the first story by Rhonda Nelson, but I crave military themed romances. In Wild Thing, the hero's named turned me off and I had a hard time seeing them together. The redeeming quality was the dog in this story.

I'd give Ms. Nelson's The Steadfast Hot Soldier a 4. Ms. Weber's Wild Thing just didn't capture my interest. I'd give it a 0.5.

Blaze has discovered that the big break-up isn't necessary.

Too short, but fun.

This was a fun, quick read with two new-to-me authors. I think I enjoyed story number two a little bit better but I think that’s going to be a personal preference. I just found it a little sexier than the first. Other than that, great introduction to new authors and a fun read.
