My favorite part of the book was that it wasn't like typical romance novels where the hero & heroine meet & 3 or 4 days later they're madly in love & planning marriage/children. The main characters in this novel actually dated for 2 & a half years and never got over each other. While it has been a long time, I find it more plausible for them to find a happily ever after so quickly considering the intensity & length of their relationship prior to this story. Likable characters ...more

Good book. The tension between Harlan and Callie was obvious immediately - and not just because they had to work together. It was apparent that neither had gotten over the other. I loved Callie's grandmother's outspokenness about what Callie needed to do. With the two of them having to work together to find the fugitives and murderers, they had to put aside their differences. As the investigation and search went on, it was interesting to see who was doing what and who was really behind it all. I ...more

In Matthew's romantic suspense novel, U.S. Marshal Harlan Cole was determined to catch a fugitive. Teaming with his ex-lover, Wyoming Deputy Callie Glass on a murder investigation, old wounds are reopened, especially those inflicted long ago. Fighting down the fury and the heat in their blood, they travel deep into the back country on a manhunt where Harlan works hard to keep past secrets silent. As an old flame rekindles, the one goal that is established: keep each other safe. A good Thriller i ...more

U.S. Marshall Harlan Cole was escorting a prisoner to a Wyoming prison when the prisoner's accomplices ambushed Harlan and freed the prisoner. The local Sheriff and his deputy Callie Glass join forces with Harlan to track down the fugitives. Harlan and Callie had studied Criminal Justice together 10 years ago. They had an affair that ended badly. During the manhunt, Harlan and Callie were able to work on repairing their relationship. The hunt for the criminals keeps this story interesting.

I enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure at first but I really ended up liking it in the end. I think the author did a good job on the action and suspense part. I also liked the little humor here and there. I would recommend this book to others and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Cover says Thriller but I don't consider this to be a thriller. More family drama than suspense. Too much family drama for my liking.

Alana Matthews can't remember a time when she didn't want to be a writer. As a child, she was a permanent fixture in her local library, and soon turned her passion for books into writing short stories and finally novels.

Alana makes her home in a small town near the coast in California, where she spends her time writing, composing and playing music, and watching her favorite movies.
